Well, there are trade-offs, of course. For jazz band charts, I like to keep the parts to 2 pages for horns and drums, 3 for bass, and no more than 4 for piano. But I never do a DS or DC that will go back more than one page. If there are good opportunities for page turns, I don't mind going to
