The secret is to not allow the negative peaks to cut off. The positive peaks
can go above 100%. That's not a problem. But, it's the negative peaks
cutting off the RF that causes distortion and splatter.

I have had the same problem several times with my 5000. I'm not doing
anything and the audio just stops. I recycle Power SDR and it comes back.
Have not tried any different buffer sizes or anything else. I never had the
problem before 2.6.4.

Do you have your noise blanker turned on? The kind of behavior you mention
is common to all noise blankers, even software ones. I have it with my Flex
5000. I turn off the noise blanker and the problem goes away.

about five or six years ago, I thought it was the wave of the future and

My recomondation would be the ARR. It has a good noise figure and is very

Re K5HY's message, I reiterate my comment made at the session at Dayton. The
transverters should have one high power output (25 -50W) and ALSO a low
power output (1 - 5) to drive tower-mounted microwave transverters. I have
been told that the low power output will be 1 milliwatt, which in no way is
is abt -119. With the
ARR in the circuit, the noise runs abt -110.
It makes me wonder if my 5K is up to snuff.
I would appreciate it if others would make similar measurements on 6 meters
and post me the results.
