Hi David I sometimes see the same thing on my 3000. However, I just never worry too much about it. The difference between 74 and 100 watts is so small in actual RF signal. What do you see in CW? If you get 100W in CW, then it is an audio alignment. Have you done an audio chain alignment?

I know this not answering your question, but I considered buying a flex control but then decided against once I found what I really was wanting. I use a newer mouse that has a free-wheeling mouse wheel. You can switch it back to normal detent mode but I usually leave it in the free-wheel mode.
