i've been a pretty devout redhat user since around 2000. that being
said, i'm thinking of switching over to mandrake 10.0 because of a
couple reasons:
1) i'm a huge KDE fan and that is default desktop on mandrake (as
opposed to fedora core's gnome)
2) fedora core 2 seems to have been
USB compiled into your kernel,
have the USB core modules loaded, and have the usbdevfs filesystem
mounted.
Where should I start in solving this?

Actually, Ebay is the way that I was first introduced to Mandrake. I got
Mandrake 6.0 for like, six bucks. Worked great. In fact they accidently sent
me two identical CDs so I was able to give one to a friend. Both were
bootable CD's and I still have them today.
I think three bucks is worth

cd into the directory that contains the files, after you have copied them
back onto the machine and try
chown user_name ./*
That should work

I can no longer speak for Mandrake as I am no longer working for the company,
but here is my guess: There was probably a slight confusion over who is
responsible for making the new RPM's. I had been creating all RPM's for the
7.2 KDE updates until about 2 weeks ago. It takes time to
py servers and whatnot. Good luck and
