I need to start a job in the background (jobname &) but sometimes I need to
bring it back to the forground to "talk to it" and then put it back into the
background.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Just saw this on a Mac mail server list. You can relay test your mail
server by using your mail server machine to telnet to:
mail-abuse.org
It will automatically relay test your mail server on that machine and
provide you the results onscreen as it happens. Pretty cool!

I got tired of @HOME running scans on my system so I blocked them with:
ipchains -I input -p TCP -s 24.4.254.140 -d 0/0 80 -j DENY -l
ipchains -I input -p TCP -s 24.4.254.141 -d 0/0 80 -j DENY -l
Can they tell that they're blocked or does it just look like I'm not running
any services?

When I try starting my Apache web server with: /usr/sbin/httpd -f

I realized that when using the startup disk without a command it was
loading from my regular hard disk. However, when I used the rescue mode,
I got a kernel panic stating it couldn't find init. I really would
appreciate some help on this!!

I modified the startup script for mysql and now it hangs during the
machine bootup. I tried using my Mandrake startup disk I created during
installation, but it just gets to the same point and hangs (apparently
loads the same init scripts). What do I do now?

I'm running Mandrake 6.0 with all the patches. If I take the time to
upgrade to 6.1 what will it give me?

FEATURE(relay_local_from) it works fine, but it seems this would allow
others to send mail appearing to be from my domain, right?
I tried FEATURE(relay_hosts_only) and it didn't seem to do the trick.

hanging, and for some reason executing in a loop (my screen is filled with
scrolling error messages that I can't stop but if I look real close I can
see a modprobe error). I could debug this but I'd really rather start from

I have successfuly installed the K-Development IDE! It looks fantastic.

I followed your instructions and I'm up and running!
"Nuking" is the pinging of a machine with an illegal sized packet, or assaults on
other ports on the machine. Many windows machines will crash when this happens. I
don't know of any such problems with Linux.

Yup, that happened to me before too. My recomendation is:
delete your old kdebase (rpm -e kdebase)
reinstall kdebase from the RPMs in the Mandrake distribution
The only problem is that after you run KDE again, you might have to reconfigure
some minor details (I had to reinstall my theme. YMMV.)
You can also use imwheel, which comes with M6. It's a lot easier to set up,
and supports more applications. (unfortunately for me it scrolls Netscape very
slowly. Any fixes?)
