If you go back to the netscape plugin page and dig around you will see a
list of available rp versions for Linux. I _believe_, but am not sure, that
they are all .tar.gz files.
You might try rpmfind.net to see if there is an rpm available.

If you have the extra time and want to mess around with the icons yourself,
you can go to the 'real' website and right click on the 'Real.com' graphic
in the upper left corner and save the image to your $user account. Next,
open the image in the gimp and find the 'scale' tool (works a lot like

Roman,
I installed Real Player the old way using the real.bin file as root. I
don't know if the install is different, but it installed the executable
in /usr/local/RealPlayer7. I created the icon on the desktop the same
way you did and pointed the Real.kdelnk to
/usr/local/RealPlayer7/re
Roman,
I had the same problem and I fixed it by deleting all the offending
entries in the /home/[user name]/.kde/share/applink and /home/[user
name]/.kde/share/mimelnk/(and all folders within). It took a couple of
restarts to get rid of all the buggers but it works fine now.
I hop
I had the same problem, but I was logged in as a user. I installed it as
root and it works fine

By "link", do you mean the Kmenu or do you mean a link on your desktop?
Regardless, it sounds like a permissions problem with your realplayer file.
1. get into your console as Superuser
2. type in: chmod 755 /usr/lib/RealPlayer7/realplay
that should correct the permissions problem.
