The default setting of umask is set in /etc/login.defs and should be 022 (
umask 022 )
By usr of ftp you probably are not logging in as a normal user under linux.
Try the other way around, log in to the new box and then open an ftp-session
to the old box.

perl, kde/gnome/yast/hardware-detection. So any 10.1 package that is not
realted to these will probably run OOTB.
