The person offering the Speed Doubler software updater was NOT

Subject: powerbook 5300 inverter board use?
Hello,
I have a powerbook 5300ce with an active matrix screen. The screen shimmers
and this is especially noticeable with the lines on a dialogue box. Someone
suggested it could be the inverter board.
Could someone tell me what an inverter board does?
Can anyone relate their
experience with OS 8.1 vs 8.5/8.6 on the 2300c?
John,
I had a maxed out 2300 (56 megs of RAM) that ran fine on either 8.1 and 8.5.
When I upgraded to 8.6 it was a mistake. Besides being awfully slow, the

information I could find

Would anyone have a recommendation for a brand of usb external hard drive

I want one that will fit (at two different times, of course) two older
powerbook 5300 hard drives (the 500 mb drive is 12.5mm and the 1.1 gig
drive is 17mm high).
Some usb external hard drive cases I see on ebay don't
