you're off to a good start and listening to music (the main point!).

Regarding the Bach problem, I looked at the tags in iTunes (the only
tagging program I have on the Mac). It doesn't have an artistsort but
there was a Sort Artist. I didn't see any Bach tags for Sort Artist.

Really, then I'm positively surprised I'm sometimes to pessimistic
about everything 93%
Setup my new Touch last night via wireless and played a bunch of 24/96
FLAC files from my collection of DVD-Audio discs and only a song or so
hesitated at startup but then played fine thereafter. Most played
without any issue at all.

The AVR scenario I see this being an issue is if a S/PDIF port expansion
device is used as these tend to be auto sensing in nature. But you are
right, my request is targeting a small audience. My real beef here is
that a feature has been removed from a product that is advertised as a
replacement.
Volume control on my touch doesn't work. I can still change the volume
from my Duet remote. I've reset the Touch but it didn't help. Any
ideas?
