Hi Nick,

Go to the form-> select the field-> go to the properties-> ensure display
type is Drop-Down List instead of Edit.

Good luck.

Subject: Users typing Group names in drop-down lists

How can I prevent the users from typing in drop-down lists?

I have users who are typing in the Group name in the Group drop-down lists
in both HD and CHG tickets.

I have some tickets that have gone into limbo because the group doesn't
really exist (different capitol letters, and some other minor differences),
yet the system accepts the ticket.

Basically, if I can prevent the users from typing in the drop-down lists, it
would solve the problem. If I can create some workflow, that would allow
the user to type in the correct name, but specify an error when they don't
type in the correct group name (or it doesn't send it to the correct name),
that would work too.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Email Authentication failure error ARS 7.0.1

2007-04-02 Thread Siti Hawa Bee SHAIK FARID

Hi Shamhoon,

I'm not an expert but i just would like to share with you what i had done.

I ever encountered this error message before. I had checked the
configuration in AR System Email mailbox Configuration.

1) Ensure status is enabled, password for the mailbox, IP address, Email
server type(SMTP) and server port(25) are all correct

2) As my AREmail installation i had installed it with a blank application
password, so i had also verified in the connection setting in admin tools.
Goto Server Information -> Connection setting and ensure the Application
Service Password is blank as well.

3) Restart AR Email engine

4) Test send by submitting a case in remedy and once saved verify if it went
to the email messages form.

5) You can also try to start the aremail from C:\Program files/Ar
System/AREmail and click EmailStart.bat to check any messages.

GooD Luck.

2007-04-02 Thread Bradford Bingel
Yes. Remedy Developer Plus (RDP) list price is $8,950 per server. RDP
licenses for additional servers are also available at half price, $4,475 per
server. Any number of developers may concurrently use a single instance of
RDP, on whatever servers RDP is installed, so user licenses aren't
applicable. And Kim is correct . . . if you previously purchased Master
ARSuite you may qualify for a complimentary RDP license.

Michael,

Remedy Admin 7.0.0p2 was already installed when I installed RDP. It works
fine with objects/forms that don't have a lot of workflow associated with
it. The form I'm having problems with is the SYS:Action form. It runs for
a while loading the objects then before it can complete it gets a "JVM need
to increase the heap size in the registry" error. I have increased the heap
size to 1024mg and it's still not enough. Maybe this form is just too big
for RDP to handle..

Re: Application licensing question

2007-04-02 Thread Bradford Bingel
Simple answers:

1. Each application typically requires a "server license". For example,
you'll need a Change Manager application license for the server you want to
run the Change Management application. (You'll also need an AR System
application license, typically running on the same server, and multiple
applications can use/share the same AR System server license.)

2. User (client) licenses fall into two categories. "Fixed" licenses are
also known as "named" licenses, as they're typically tied to a specific
user, not to a specific server. "Floating" licenses are also known as
"concurrent" licenses, as they determine how many user may "concurrently"
access the application. They're typically assigned to a server (or server
pool), not to an individual user. Floating licenses are kept in a revolving
pool and metered out on a first come, first served basis. With AR System 5
and earlier, each floating license was assigned to a server; problem was,
when that server became unavailable, the associated floating licenses also
became unavailable. With AR System 6 came the concept of server pools,
which introduced a better way to manage floating licenses; if assigned to a
server pool, rather than to an individual server, if one server becomes
unavailable, the associated floating licenses don't necessarily become
unavailable. The concept of reserved license pools was also introduced,
which allowed you to reserve a set number of floating licenses for special
user groups (such as IT management or occasional-use executives).

3. Here's where it gets confusing. To license a user for AR System, you
need a fixed or floating AR System user license. To license a user for an
application (such as Change Management), you need a fixed or floating Change
Management user license, AND a fixed or floating AR System user license.
Also, a fixed Change Management user license can only be used with a fixed
AR System user license, and a floating Change Management user license can
only be used with a floating AR System user license. When you purchase new
application user licenses you have the option of purchasing an "incremental"
application user license (e.g., a fixed or floating Change Management user
license by itself, which assumes you already have the companion fixed or
floating AR System user license), or a "full" application user license
(e.g., a fixed or floating Change Management user license bundled with a
companion fixed or floating AR System user license.)

4. Pricing can also be confusing. A "production" license is a full price
license (e.g., a Change Management application license lists for $22,000),
intended for production environments. A "development" (or "dev") license or
a "test" (or "QA") license typically costs half as much (e.g., a "dev"
Change Management application license lists for $11,000) but can only be
used in a non-production environment. In addition, "standby" or "hot
backup" licenses, which let you set up a standby (passive failover) server,
are also available at half price, but are typically complimentary for large
accounts. In the past, Remedy would charge full maintenance fees for dev or
test licenses, but that policy changed a couple of years ago and now
maintenance for dev or test licenses is half of maintenance for production
licenses.

Ivan, to answer your question on an application license, that would be
equivalent to a "server" license. (Please note that Remedy does not use the
term "server license" and prefers instead to use the term "application
license". Since it's a license for the application to run on a server, I
call it a server license.) And yes . . . if you want to set up a
"non-production" Remedy environment for your development or QA teams, you'll
need to purchase separate server and user licenses. Bummer.

Nick, to answer your question on whether a floating application license
stays with a user, the answer is "no" -- only a fixed user license "follows"
the user. If an occasional user logs in and requests a floating license (a
background process Remedy performs automatically), if a floating license is
available it will be assigned to that user. Once assigned, it remains
"attached" to that user until one of two events occurs: 1) the user
explicitly signs out (which immediately releases the floating license); or
2) the user remains inactive, their Remedy session times out, and the
floating license is returned to the floating license pool. Please note the
timeout clock cannot be set to be shorter than 60 minutes.

If you need more detailed answers or have a specific issue to discuss,
including licensing strategies and additional pricing information, feel free
to contact me directly, off the ARSlist.

Don't fret, the hard part is knowing where to look and what to do. Email
and flashboards just need to be updated to use the same password as
arserver. The commands are outlined to do this in the article; just make a
backup of the config files before running the program to update the files (
server.conf and emaildaemon.properties).

If you do modify the files directly, you need to signal the owning process
to reread the new config values. This is typically done with arsignal for
arserver and a kill for emaild.

Just check out which fields are indexed with the unique flag set, and ensure
that you are not trying to add a value that already exists for that field.
Example:
I have created two character fields with first name and last name, and set
unique flag set for last name so that when we saved duplicate data with same
last name then it will generate an error message ARERR[382] because last
name has a unique flag set.

Please do check for the unique index is required for the fields. If possible
try to customize with minimum index to the fields.

Archana

Re: .Net Server Login issue

2007-04-02 Thread Bill H
Hi all!

Can someone who is successfully using the BMC.ARSystem.dll (7.0.2523.16350)
.Net Api check their msjava.dll file and tell me if it is zero bytes in length?
That would be appreciated! Yes I'm grasping at straws, but I am making
progress.

Thanks,
Bill

Other ASP.Net apps work just fine
BMC.ARSystem is latest version (7.0.2523.16350) of the .Net API (4 zip files
from the Community downloads)
Microsoft .Net Framework is v2.0.50727 and v1.1.4322; BMC.ARSytem is

  Bill,

Here are a few questions that may help you narrow down the cause. HTH.

Are you using Visual Studio 2003 or 2005? Are you using Vista? Are you
using a 64-bit version of Windows?

Have you tried creating a .Net Console application that just: logs into
Remedy, outputs a GUID (for example) to the screen, then logs out? If you can
get this to work at the console then it could be what you have suggested -
either the ASP.Net configuration or the .Net API installation.

To possibly eliminate the API installation, try going through the Uninstall
steps listed in the API readme, reboot, then reinstall the API. Are you using
the latest ARS .Net API?

Does your installation of ASP.Net work fine with every other project? Is
your ASP.Net installation setup to default to use .Net Framework 2.0 or 1.1?

If you don't have a lot of ASP.Net web apps already setup on your computer,
one thing to try is to uninstall ASP.Net, reboot, then reinstall. This may
clear up a few settings that may be missing or need resetting.

Finally, as a long shot, are you using a firewall other than the Windows
Firewall? If so, try shutting down the firewall to test. Of course, if you
are connected directly to the internet and not behind a router, unplug your
network cable first while the firewall is disabled.

  Stephen

  **
  Hi,

I'm trying to test the BMC AR System NET and COM API (version 7.0). I've
successfully used previous versions of Arsystem.Net without issue. With this
version, though, after registering the types (regasm.exe) and placing the
install dir in the path I'm unable to login to a server.

The specific error I'm getting is 'server.ClientCharSet' threw an exception
of type 'System.IO.FileNotFoundException' string
{System.IO.FileNotFoundException}. I am getting this error in an application I
am developing, but I also get the same error using the arsys_aspnet sample code
provided with the download. BTW, I don't have the problem with the
FieldLabelChanger sample program.

I'm pretty sure this is a client issue or ASP.Net issue. Maybe it has
something to do with my installation, but I've checked the registry and found
the BMC.ARSystem types. It is interesting though that I didn't find a
BMC.ARSystem.Server.Login type. I've also checked that the installation
directory is in the path by running the arconfig.exe from a command prompt at
the root of the drive and it works.

Finally, I might be way off base with my assumptions of the problem. So
anyone run into this before? Any ideas?

  Server is 7.01

Re: Distinct Counts

2007-04-02 Thread Axton

Kind of off topic, but I had an rfe for this that was not considered
(RFE0007086):

http://arswiki.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=16
Summary: Ability to perform grouping and aggregates - table fields

The gist of the enhancement request was the ability to perform
aggregates inside table fields; being of two parts - (1) grouping and
(2) aggregate column(s) (count, sum, max, min, stddev, avg, etc.).
SQL-99 defines both grouping and aggregates as part of it's standard:
http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~yuan/logicsql/logicsql.html#SEC9

If you have a business/use case for such a capability, please state it
in this thread or on the bugzilla entry. It can't hurt.

Example
Form A has records
ID Location
0001 North
0002 North
0003 East
0004 South
0005 West
0006 Giraffe

Your report sort will be on Location and grouped
The Statistics operation will be count and the Label will be $Location$ :
(the space and colon : separates the count from your locations.)

So your report will be

East :1
Giraffe :1
North :2
South :1
West :1

The first thing I would do is open up the properties of the Remedy Email

after applying a patch or upgrading. The password doesn't change, and
the account is set to never expire, I just need to sort of remind the

There are two places you need to lookone is in the Admin tool...I
believe it's called the "Application Password"...that's the one that the
email engine uses to connectthe other is in the .properties file for the

it is to reinstall the email engine and give it the new password on install.

Now...I'm looking to add an Entry point within a deployable application.
Well...due to the fact that my Form is not a member of that application...I
associate the AL that opens my form to a form that is in that deployable
application create the Entry Point Guide and viola...in the user tool...I
have an entry point associated with my Application...that displays my Dialog
exactly as I want it to. Problem comes in when I'm on the Mid-Tier. When I
click my entry point it opens the dialog as expected but also opens the form
that the AL is associated with in the background. Any suggestions or anyone

I believe if you have/had IT Masters application Master ARSuite - then
you can just get the license and pay support for RDP. That is what I

Michael,

Remedy Admin 7.0.0p2 was already installed when I installed RDP. It
works fine with objects/forms that don't have a lot of workflow
associated with it. The form I'm having problems with is the SYS:Action
form. It runs for a while loading the objects then before it can
complete it gets a "JVM need to increase the heap size in the registry"
error. I have increased the heap size to 1024mg and it's still not
enough. Maybe this form is just too big for RDP to handle

I just downloaded 6.3 today from the same place. LJ Head suggested
installing Admin 6, RDP, Admin 7 in that order.

LJ also mentioned that RDP 6.3 might not be compatible with ARS 7.x

Hi Michael,

I have Remedy Developer Plus version 6.3 p1492 installed with Admin
version 7.0.0 p2 and it is working. However, I have run into a problem
with large forms that have lots of associated workflow, I keep getting a
JVM error that says I need to increase the heap size in the registry.

What version of RDP do you have? I found ver 6.3 in the patch download

Here are some more particulars:
***
VS 2005
Windows XP Pro (localhost web server)
Net Console App works fine
Other ASP.Net apps work just fine
BMC.ARSystem is latest version of the .Net API (4 zip files from the Community
downloads)
Microsoft .Net Framework is v2

I'm going to try and uninstall then reinstall and see if that helps. You're
right Stephen, isolating the problem is the correct approach, thanks for your
suggestions.

  **

Any ideas?

Re: Microsoft Operations Manager w/ARS connector (U)

2007-04-02 Thread Papolu, Appajee
Lisa,

Another option to consider is to integrate MOM events/alerts with AR
System entry creation or modification -- using programmatic means. I
don't quite know whether it was a commercial product or in-house tool,
but am aware of AR System VAR/customer(?) that integrated MOM & AR
System using AR System .NET API. I interacted with them to get them up
to speed on this API or help resolve an issue or two they were having at
that time.

If your team has expertise in C#, VB.NET etc, then you might want to
check the AR System .NET API. In case you're interested, please check
out Remedy Developer Community downloads section, to find this API
distribution.

2007-04-02 Thread Vyom Labs - ITSM Support

Just check out which fields are indexed with the unique flag set, and
ensure that you are not trying to add a value that already exists for
that field.
Example:
I have created two character fields with first name and last name, and
set unique flag set for last name so that when we saved duplicate data
with same last name then it will generate an error message ARERR[382]
because last name has a unique flag set.

Please do check for the unique index is required for the fields. If
possible try to customize with minimum index to the fields.

I had initially deleted the cases from HPD:Helpdesk and when re-importing

Re: Strange Admin Tool UI effect. (Version 7.0.00 Patch 001)

2007-04-02 Thread Reiser, John J
Gary,

Just double click the grey area at the top of the window. It will
're-park' itself.
If you've already clicked the 'x' then you need to close/open a new
server window.

This feature could be useful for really deep prefix trees. Widen the
prefix area to see the deepest object and then 'un-park' it. Move it off
to the side and your objects' details expand to the whole frame.
Not really useful without a second monitor though.

Re: SOS- URGENT HELP entry violate a unique index

2007-04-02 Thread David Yearsley
You can put a Unique index on most databases with Null values because (in
Oracle anyway Null does not equal Null. I just add one last week with Null
Values.

>>> Rick Cook <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mar 31, 2007 8:41 AM >>>
Your form has a unique index that is being violated. I assume you know what
that means. Figure out which field(s) is/are indexed with the unique flag
set, and ensure that you're not trying to add a value that already exists
for that field.

Keep in mind that a NULL value is also considered a value - duplicate NULLs
will return that error, too.

You need the 10g client to run 7.x. I have a writeup on setting up

Remedy ARS version upgrade from version 6.3 to 7.0.1

Hi,

I wanted to upgrade my Remedy ARS version from version 6.3 to 7.0.1 but
I get the following error message during the installation :

/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't find path for shared library: libclntsh.sl.10.1
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory

I'm running ARS on HP-UX system and Oracle database version 9i Release 2
as non-unicode.

Can somebody please let me know what I have to do as the file
"libclntsh.sl.10.1" which the error message is referring doesn't exist.
But it looks like that this is a library for oracle version 10 ???

The only file I can found which looks like that is "libclntsh.sl.9.0"

Thanks for your support

Re: Email not sent out

2007-04-02 Thread Axton

It can be edited directly, but I do not know what reversible encryption alg
they used to generate the value that is used to store the password. I am
not sure that they use the same alg between the ar.conf and
emaildaemon.properties file, but they may. Do keep in mind that there are
numerous other places that this password is referenced in addition to the
email engine. I covered them all in the linked article (excluding any
references within application - e.g., ITSM7/CMDB).

If you do modify the files directly, you need to signal the owning process
to reread the new config values. This is typically done with arsignal for
arserver and a kill for emaild.

ANN: Open source Java API add-on ExpertDesk Plus released

2007-04-02 Thread Hugo Visser

Hello List,

I'm proud to announce that Mansystems has open sourced some of its utility
Java code under the Apache License. It's hosted on google code at
http://code.google.com/p/edplus

Here's a description of the library:

ExpertDesk Plus (edplus) is a Java library that simplifies AR System Java
API development, licenced under the Apache License.
It acts as an add-on to the existing AR System API, not as a replacement.
The features of the library are:

* Uses Java 5 generics and the collection framework, eg Iterators
* A single entry point, the Server class for common tasks
* Can be "plugged in" to existing code without major refactoring

Although it is a small library, we hope this will be usefull to other AR
System developers. In the future we'll expand the library with additional
usefull code.

If you have any suggestions or questions, please let me know.

For more info see the project website at http://code.google.com/p/edplus.

Thanks,

Hugo

Macro Question

2007-04-02 Thread Sullivan, Neil G CTR USAF AFRL/SNOD
AR System 7.0.0, Windows 2003, and MSSql 2005

I am running a macro that performs two different queries and combines
the results into a template via DDE. My customers are complaining about
the "no matching entries" boxes that appear during the macro. My
question is where do I place the command for "no matching entries" or
"suppress empty lists" within the macro. I've tried it after the query,
but that doesn't seem to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Validate field data - allowing some to be NULL

2007-04-02 Thread Heider, Stephen
Sue,

Have you considered using your RDBMS to perform the qualification?

For intricate validations I frequently find it's easier to create a user
defined function in your database, then run a Set Fields SQL command in
ARS to perform the validation. You can then call your function many
times throughout your ARS application without additional validation
programming.

Here is a SQL Server function that returns the number of gigabytes if
the number passed is between 1 and 1000 (change the range to match your
requirements).

CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[udf_ValidateRequestedDiskspace]
(
@Diskspace VARCHAR(20)
)
RETURNS INT
AS
BEGIN
IF @Diskspace = NULL OR ISNUMERIC(@Diskspace) = 0
RETURN NULL

DECLARE @Tmp BIGINT
SET @Tmp = CONVERT(INT,ROUND(CONVERT(FLOAT,@Diskspace),0))
IF @Tmp <= 0 OR @Tmp > 1000
RETURN NULL

RETURN CONVERT(INT,@Tmp)
END

In workflow: Set Fields, SQL, SELECT
dbo.udf_ValidateRequestedDiskspace('$Requested storage amount in GB:
$'). The next Filter would then check your field for $NULL $. If null,
then display a message to the user.

Strange. Make sure you have the "^" in the qual.

Re: View Forms

2007-04-02 Thread Heider, Stephen
Roger,

To test the connection across subnets, can you connect SQL Server to SQL
Server? Do you have the Oracle gateway software installed? Here are a
couple links detailing the gateway.

Microsoft SQL Server Gateway Features and Restrictions
http://docs.huihoo.com/oracle/docs/B19306_01/gateways.102/b14270/ch3.htm

Generic Heterogeneous Services and Transparent Gateways in 10 Minutes
http://www.orafusion.com/art_orahs.htm

I think that the issue [if there is one] will probably be with
database-to-database connectivity and not Remedy. If your local RDBMS
can see and access data from a remote RDBMS then Remedy should be able
to easily access the local SQL Views. The only issues I have seen with
remote database connectivity is with the Microsoft DTC configurations.
I am not sure if Oracle has a similar issues with remote connectivity as
SQL Server. I can say that from my computer I was quickly able to
connect SQL Server 2005 to a remote Oracle 10g database located on
another subnet (in another state). I did not have to make any special
local configuration changes to make the connection.

If you are experiencing continuing difficulties with connecting Oracle
to SQL Server, depending on your environment, it is possible to instead
connect SQL Server to Oracle? Would this provide the same functionality
you need?

On a related note, at my company we are in the process of setting up a
new Oracle 10g database to use for one of our main systems. All of our
other systems use SQL Server 2000. Because of the massive costs to
purchase additional (not upgrade) SQL Server 2005 licenses for all our
apps we are planning on switching to SQL Server 2005 at a later date.
However, one option that is being considered is setting up a single SQL
Server 2005 instance on a basic server that will only provide SQL
replication between the Oracle system. This is because SQL Server 2005
is really good with Oracle replication out of the box. Our [SQL Server
2000] apps would then connect to the SQL Server 2005 box natively.
With the connection speed between all our servers at full-duplex gigabit
Ethernet, there would be almost zero performance impact. ...just want
to spark ideas.

Okay maybe I did not give enough information, my bad. The two subnets
are within the same domain in the company. The view will be created in a
SQL database. Of the two Remedy systems the one is SQL and the other is
Oracle. The SQL Remedy system is on the same subnet as the view. The
Oracle Remedy system is not. Does that make anything clearer?

Roger,

If you can create a SQL View on your Remedy database server pointing to
any table on a remote database server then Remedy should be able to
create a View Form on top of the local SQL View. Are you able to add a
Linked Server connection from the Remedy database server to the remote
database server?

Are the two subnets within your company's WAN/LAN or is one of the
subnets from the internet?

We have several Remedy systems on different platforms. We are
integrating two of the Remedy systems with a new .Net system all in the
same domain. The two Remedy systems are on different subnets. The
question that has come up is can the two Remedy systems create a view
form to a view of a table that is in a database on one of the subnets?
If so, how does the Remedy system in the 'outside' subnet reference the
view in the View Form? I hope this makes sense.

Pascal,

You've answered your own question. The Oracle 10g client is required for
ARS 7 installations with a 9iR2 or 10gR2 backend.

Refer to the compat. matrix at :

Note that every Oracle DB column entry references: Requires 32-bit Oracle

Regards
Pascal

Re: .Net Server Login issue

2007-04-02 Thread Heider, Stephen

If
you can get this to work at the console then it could be what you have
suggested - either the ASP.Net configuration or the .Net API
installation.

To possibly eliminate the API installation, try going through the
Uninstall steps listed in the API readme, reboot, then reinstall the
API. Are you using the latest ARS .Net API?

Does your installation of ASP.Net work fine with every other project?
Is your ASP.Net installation setup to default to use .Net Framework 2.0
or 1.1?

If you don't have a lot of ASP.Net web apps already setup on your
computer, one thing to try is to uninstall ASP.Net, reboot, then
reinstall. This may clear up a few settings that may be missing or need
resetting.

Finally, as a long shot, are you using a firewall other than the Windows
Firewall? If so, try shutting down the firewall to test. Of course, if
you are connected directly to the internet and not behind a router,
unplug your network cable first while the firewall is disabled.

**
Hi,

I'm trying to test the BMC AR System NET and COM API (version 7.0).
I've successfully used previous versions of Arsystem.Net without issue.
With this version, though, after registering the types (regasm.exe) and
placing the install dir in the path I'm unable to login to a server.

The specific error I'm getting is 'server.ClientCharSet' threw an
exception of type 'System.IO.FileNotFoundException' string
{System.IO.FileNotFoundException}. I am getting this error in an
application I am developing, but I also get the same error using the
arsys_aspnet sample code provided with the download. BTW, I don't have
the problem with the FieldLabelChanger sample program.

I'm pretty sure this is a client issue or ASP.Net issue. Maybe it has
something to do with my installation, but I've checked the registry and
found the BMC.ARSystem types. It is interesting though that I didn't
find a BMC.ARSystem.Server.Login type. I've also checked that the
installation directory is in the path by running the arconfig.exe from a
command prompt at the root of the drive and it works.

Finally, I might be way off base with my assumptions of the problem. So
anyone run into this before? Any ideas?

Server is 7.01

Good morning,

You'd have to format the split builtin differently, and you'd have to
escape the |.
Furthermore, you'd have to chomp the line before you edit it (there is
still a linebreak on the end of the line).

$datafile = "test.txt";
open(datafile, "$datafile") || die("Error opening $datafile: $!\n");
foreach $line ()
  {
  chomp $line;
  @dataarray = split(/\|/,$line);
  print "$dataarray[0]\n";
  print "$dataarray[1]\n";
  print "$dataarray[2]\n";
}
close(datafile);

btw: this is not a real Remedy related issue I guess ;-)

/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't find path for shared library: libclntsh.sl.10.1
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory

I'm running ARS on HP-UX system and Oracle database version 9i Release 2
as non-unicode.

Can somebody please let me know what I have to do as the file
"libclntsh.sl.10.1" which the error message is referring doesn't exist.
But it looks like that this is a library for oracle version 10 ???

The only file I can found which looks like that is "libclntsh.sl.9.0"

Thanks for your support
Regards
Pascal

Hi Axton, many thanks for the link.

Sorry, but would like to clarify, can the password be edited directly in cfg
file or in the email daemon?

Dear Listers,

Good news, I had managed to solved this problem.

It seems that AREmail is checking on the Application Service Password.

Initially, I had installed AR email without application service password.
After everything is up and running, and due to security reason, I had set
Application Service Password at Server Information in Admin Tool. Then, the
problem surfaced.

So now my concern is, I cannot just leave the Application Service PAssword
<.BLANK >, am i right. However, if i were to indicate the password, then my
email messages will not go thru. So where else to configure for AREmail if i
were to indicate Application Service password?

Is there any implication if i were to leave the password as ?

Copy Anoop : Thanks for replying. l I had checked and did not find the file
u mentioned.

Are you getting any error message when you go to the advanced options on the

Dear Listers,
I email messages were all stuck in the email messages form. I had already
started the email engine and set the polling interval to be 1min but these
mails still stuck in here. Anywhere else to check?

The pype symbol is a regex metacharacter. If you want to match a literal
"|", you have to escape it with a backslash:

 @dataarray = split("\|",$Sentance);

Where $Senctence = ABC|DEF|GHI

ABC

Re: Help On Perl Code

2007-04-02 Thread Michiel Beijen

Good morning,

You'd have to format the split builtin differently, and you'd have to
escape the |.
Furthermore, you'd have to chomp the line before you edit it (there is
still a linebreak on the end of the line).

$datafile = "test.txt";
open(datafile, "$datafile") || die("Error opening $datafile: $!\n");
foreach $line ()
 {
 chomp $line;
 @dataarray = split(/\|/,$line);
 print "$dataarray[0]\n";
 print "$dataarray[1]\n";
 print "$dataarray[2]\n";
}
close(datafile);

btw: this is not a real Remedy related issue I guess ;-)

On opens you need "or" not pipe - Different level of binding.

open FILE, $filename or die "Can't open $filename $!\n";
