Re: Global Variable not Stored in Commit

2013-10-31 Thread Marek Ceizel
Hi Jason,

actually I just maybe wrote it wrongly that Globa Field. It's a normal field on
the calling form which should be filled On Close of the called form.
The Idea of stroring the value from table to a field before is nice but at the
end, where is the difference. On Close I mapped the value chosen from the
table. In that way I will just map the value from a filed. I don't think there
will be some difference.

however, problem is this is happening either in normal mode (not private) of
the explorer. but it's sudden and I cannot replicate that so easily :(

however, thanks a lot for tip :)

I think OTB a read license user is not supposed to see those forms. Someone may
have modified some of the permissions on those forms that allows users with
lower grade of permissions to see them?

Either that or there is something wrong with that particular users cache, if
that is the only user that is able to see these forms.

I guess the question is: What do you want them to see? Is it another page? Is
it a specific console? You can use the $GROUP$ keyword in your workflow to
determine a group and that they do/don't belong to and push them to another
form if necessary.

Better yet, create a panel and give only admins access to it. Put all these

Looking to modify some items on the 7.6.4 home page and looking for info (and happy Halloween, if your into that)

OK, I know this is a newbie question, but I was playing around with the 7.6.4
home page (or landing page) and wanted to modify the "Backlog of Incidents -
Real Time" to add in filtering in the groups that a user is member of.

What I know so far is that its using flashboards, the Flashboard and variable
is HPD:INC:KPI_Backlog. I am just missing what is calling the filtering. In the
OOB one by company.

Since I have not done some real coding for a few years, I was looking for a
start place on this play project.

As always thanks,

Roles and Applications - Remedy Asset Management

I'm about to pull my hair out. All of the sudden, our test account
(that includes Asset Admin permissions) suddenly is not able to "View"

This is in Staging. In Dev it works as normal. It's viewable for an
account with Admin permissions, so it's a permission issue right?

I've compared all of these objects on Staging to Dev and they are
exactly the same. I'm not sure why it's not showing up!!!

Remedy Asset Management Application

AST:Asset Management Console Form

The Active Link Guide Entry Point for Asset Management (actually, that
would be for the Asset Management Console link UNDER the main Asset

I've checked all the roles that are set for the Remedy Asset Management

Everything is the same.

Hey Lisa:

1.Was there a DB copy between some other environment and the Staging
environment?

2.Have you tried removing the permissions that appear to be there, saving
the test account, then resetting them? That resolves the kind of problem
you've described for uswell, not every time, but probably at least 40% of
the time.

3.Do you actually have enough Fixed/Floating licenses in Staging to cover
the type of license that is set for the test account?

Good luck!

Easier than going through Dev Studio… In your User Tool goto Tools / Customize

Better yet, create a panel and give only admins access to it. Put all these
fields including change request previous status and other notable ones in
there. That way, you don't have to keep modifying the form

Howard,
All of those panels are just basic Remedy forms, most with flashboards or
tables on them. Under quick links, select "Home Page Descriptor Configuration"
and search for the panel. Copy the form name from the Form* field and then open
Developer Studio.

Expand your server on the left, right-click Working Lists, and select "New View
By Form List"
Give it a name, click add, and paste the form name in the name box.
Select the form, click ok, and click Ok to save the working list
A panel will open that lists the form, menu's, and workflow related to it.
(Most of these panels don't have a lot of code.)

If you click the little blue starlike square in the upper right of the panel,
you can view the objects by type. This is helpful for viewing all the active
links by execute on action or sort order.

In this case, it sounds like you're looking for active link
HPD:HCB:WinLoad_100_RefreshKPIwithCompany which calls active link guide
HPD:HCB:RefreshBacklogKPI that runs the following active links to generate a
dynamic flashboard qualification.
HPD:HCB:Company_100_RefreshKPI_SetMeter
HPD:HCB:Company_110_RefreshKPI_SetMeterGlobal
HPD:HCB:Company_120_RefreshKPI_Backlog

Happy Halloween All,

OK, I know this is a newbie question, but I was playing around with the 7.6.4
home page (or landing page) and wanted to modify the “Backlog of Incidents –
Real Time” to add in filtering in the groups that a user is member of.

How can I limit AIE exchanges to existing CMDB records?

2013-10-31 Thread Danaceau, Chris
I want to limit records from a source that I bring into the CMDB to just those
that match on the key attribute (in this case serial number). Can this be done
with a data key or update query? Currently my model is to bring this data into
its own data set.

Should I instead target a data set thats a copy of production?

My goal is to not create new records from my source, but only to update
existing CMDB records. If there's an option to do it with the Reconciliation
engine I'm open to that as well.

When creating a CRQ, when I review the approvals that are generated (CRQ>Work
Detail tab>Approver table field), I find an approver present that shouldn't be.

That is, there are numerous approvers at specific phases that should be there
(and there are APR:Approver Lookup mappings to support them), but there is one
approver that shouldn't be there. I've searched the mappings for that
approver, but none support the change class or approval phase for this
particular CRQ.

Any ideas how to fix this?

When creating a CRQ, when I review the approvals that are generated (CRQ>Work
Detail tab>Approver table field), I find an approver present that shouldn't be.

That is, there are numerous approvers at specific phases that should be there
(and there are APR:Approver Lookup mappings to support them), but there is one
approver that shouldn't be there. I've searched the mappings for that
approver, but none support the change class or approval phase for this
particular CRQ.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks,

Rick

OMG...

Looking at docs.bmc.com , I looked at the comments at the bottom of the page here for Version 8.0 install:

http://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/ars8000/Optional+components+that+you+can+install?focusedCommentId=354779988&focusedCommentId=354779988

There is a comment that states:

Ashwini Mathad

Hi Basil,
1) No, ARWebReportViewer is not installed automatically with the BOXi installation; however, it requires BoXi server as a prerequisite. ARWebReportViewer is a component of the mid tier and it is installed with the mid tier.
2) In the AR Installer of version 8.1, you do not have an option to select ARWebReportViewer. ARWebReportViewer is automatically installed with the mid tier. If you want to install ARWebReportViewer on another machine, you will have to install mid tier too.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Ashwini

Are they serious?  This means I need to install MidTier on my BOXI server in order to get ARWebReportViewer ?  One of the key reasons for me putting my BOXI server on another machine was so that I didn't have to install MidTier on it.   This can't be right.

Anyone else struggling with this or can verify this?

Hello all:

Pulling my hair out on this one.

Environment: ARS 8.1, ITSM 8.1 BOXI 4.0

I have a separate BOXI server from my mid-tier and I want to install ARReportViewer on the BOXI server to render Crystal reports.  However, when I download the suite installer "ARSuiteKit_MidtierWar_windows_8.1", uncompress it, and try to install just the ARWebReportViewer, it doesn't give me the option to just install the viewr.  It is like it doesn't recognize the fact that BOXI 4.0 is installed on the server.  (see screen shot attached... hope it comes through).

the install options I get are:

ARSystem Servers

ARSystem Mid-tier

ARSystem Client

If  I continue with Mid-tier install, thinking that the option is somehow buried underneath it, it wants to install the complete midtier.

Any ideas?

We actually opened a support ticket this morning for this exact issue. No
response yet.

Any ideas I have cannot be posted in public !

We just did our ARS v8.1 server implementation 10/5 which launched our
first endeavor into the Mid-Tier world. A host of minor changes to
accomodate 'the browser' behaviors have been completed. The Reporting
Console has been conquered ... or it's just letting me think it has. Have
to say, Scheduled Reports are very nice, somewhat limited but for a first
cut at Scheduling, not bad.

The last thing open is Crystal Reports we used to initiate in the client
tool (and still do) via active link buttons. It is my main focus right
now.

Re: How can I limit AIE exchanges to existing CMDB records?

2013-10-31 Thread Smerz, Christian
Chris,
The Query tab on CI Class Mappings does offer a certain amount of filtering but
doesn't quite get you what you're looking for.
You can however pursue the option you suggest in your last sentence. In your
recon jobs you can have identification run but not "auto-identify" records that
do not match in the source dataset. The merge activity will only "promote"
identified records.

For the AIE import to your secondary dataset.
There are options on the Data Exchange (not the mapping) Main tab, labeled
as Data in Target - options are Create a record and Update existing
records. More info is described on Page 141 in the BMC Atrium Integration
Engine 7604 User's Guide.

Christian's suggestion is a must for the reconciliation between the
secondary and primary datasets.

Re: Global Variable not Stored in Commit

2013-10-31 Thread Jason Miller
In terms of the AR API I do not know what the difference is but from
experience using values directly from table fields sometimes doesn't work
as expected. Maybe the row is being unselected (unnoticeably) right be for
the Commit action?

I agree it *should* work. Often times doing a Set Fields from a Table Field
before using in workflow is required when doing an AL/Filter loop on a
Table Field however it is one thing to try with your Commit/Close Window to
rule out these kinds of issues.

Beyond that I am assuming the Table Field is visible, you can see the data
in the TF and that the row is selected before the Commit/Close Window? That
should rule out most permissions issues. If the TF is not visible then
there a few things we can explore there.

Does it happen for everybody? One user or set of users? Is it only in IE?
Can you pound on this functionality in Firefox a little to verify it is a
browser-specific issue?

Jason
Hi Jason,

actually I just maybe wrote it wrongly that Globa Field. It's a normal
field on the calling form which should be filled On Close of the called
form.
The Idea of stroring the value from table to a field before is nice but at
the end, where is the difference. On Close I mapped the value chosen from
the table. In that way I will just map the value from a filed. I don't
think there will be some difference.

however, problem is this is happening either in normal mode (not private)
of the explorer. but it's sudden and I cannot replicate that so easily :(

however, thanks a lot for tip :)

Installation problems with ARS 8.1.00

2013-10-31 Thread Reiser, John J
Hello Listers,
ARS 8.1.00
MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (remote)
OS Windows Enterprise 2003

I am having the worst time trying to get a bare bones Remedy ARSystem server
installed.
I have admin rights for the user running the setup.exe file. That windows user
also is the db_owner of the ARSystem_test database which was created during the
installation process.
It takes forever to complete, the starting services time is the longest. When
it does complete the install is flagged as failed because the ARSystem would
not start in a "timely fashion".
I have a ticket open with BMC Support and they have given me some things to
check that was pulled out of the installation logs.
The settings that they questioned were supposedly confirmed by the DBA but all
I can tell is that the MS SQL Server DB is "owned" by the windows account.

Because of all of these oddities I dare not touch my production system (7.6.03)
or my sandbox (7.6.04 SP3) for fear of breaking them too. They were upgraded
from earlier versions and have a legacy sql account as the owner but the
services run on the ARS machine with the same domain account as the one I'm
using for the test.

System policy does not allow for giving the sa account out and local SQL
accounts are discouraged so I am using a windows domain account to run the
install, own the DB and run the services on the ARSystem server machine.

Has anyone seen any gotchas like file system permission restrictions on a
windows server or some other idiosyncrasy that could prevent the installation
from completing successfully?

Thank you,

Re: Installation problems with ARS 8.1.00

2013-10-31 Thread Janie Sprenger
Hi John,

I had a really hard time completing the upgrades from 7604. Everything had
to be patched to 7604 SP4 first. That wasn't really hard. The main
trouble was that we also ran into an issue because the system that I was
upgrading had a failed RKM installation in 7604 that I didn't know about.
That failed install caused problems in the upgrade, we manually redid the
ITSM installation about 3 times, fixing problems as we went and then
resetting the installer and temp folder, etc. Ultimately it installed
successfully; however, once we really started reviewing the apps, we had
more problems with RKM than we could deal with and ultimately opted to
build a new 8.1 environment and port the customizations and data.

My experience with installing 8.1 was on Windows 2012/SQL 2012 with a
Windows administrator account. Both are VMs on the same physical host and
SQL was a local account. To be honest, the clean installs were super easy
and fast. I made sure any hardware pre-req that I could think of was met.
There was plenty of disk space and memory for the servers.

One thing I have noticed is that the Core and ITSM installers need quite a
large amount of disk space to unpack everything. While the ultimate
product isn't insane for disk space, the installation temporarily uses a
lot of disk space.

Another item I've noticed with the installers also prior to 8.1 is that SQL
databases that have transaction logging on will take longer for the
installer to run because it's of course logging all of those changes.

I would lean towards looking at where that DB is running, if it's in a
shared SQL environment and there isn't enough juice to run, the install
will just dog. I had that happen once, turns out that SQL admin had
something like 2GB ram allocated to the db, I talked them into jumping it
up to 12gb (since it was shared) and the install completed.

The other thing to investigate is network latency as I'm sure you know.

Oh, and are you doing any of the installs with the installers on shared
drives? The installers on shared drives tend to be a problem.

Re: Roles and Applications - Remedy Asset Management

2013-10-31 Thread Janie Sprenger
Yes, that option is in the Roles form.
Have you check if another test user with Asset Admin permission can access
the link? If so, sometimes I've seen user login ids get disconnected from
their permissions. Have you removed the Asset Admin permission from your
test user, logged in, logged out, then added the Asset Admin permission
back to the user - then log in.
The other thing I've noticed is that sometimes the local cache seems to be
wrong - certain field labels will be completely wrong. Sometimes, deleting
the browser's temporary cache and logging in again will resolve the
problem. Have you checked logging in from another computer?

Sorry if you've tried all this - just trying to throw out additional ideas
for you.

Re: Roles and Applications - Remedy Asset Management

2013-10-31 Thread Kemes, Lisa A DLA CTR INFORMATION OPERATIONS
Janie,

It happens on any account (that's not an admin). These accounts used to
be able to see the link, but not now. Dev is working normal and I've
checked everything and Stage looks just like Dev (as far as the
Application, form, Accounts, permissions, groups, roles.) But SOMETHING
has to be missing and it happened on Tuesday. Still checking.thanks
so much!

Yes, that option is in the Roles form.

Have you check if another test user with Asset Admin permission can
access the link? If so, sometimes I've seen user login ids get
disconnected from their permissions. Have you removed the Asset Admin
permission from your test user, logged in, logged out, then added the
Asset Admin permission back to the user - then log in.
The other thing I've noticed is that sometimes the local cache seems to
be wrong - certain field labels will be completely wrong. Sometimes,
deleting the browser's temporary cache and logging in again will resolve
the problem. Have you checked logging in from another computer?

Sorry if you've tried all this - just trying to throw out additional
ideas for you.

OK, I found where I can set the state. It's blank in Dev and in Stage.
I changed it to Production on Stage (and Dev) and then saved the
application.Refreshed the cache and still working the same way. Dev

This is an OOB application (Remedy Asset Management). The only thing we
do to this app is add some custom forms to it (to assume the roles).

I might have to call support soon. I just don't see any difference with
Dev. Ugh!

Hi Lisa,

Is Staging in a server group by any chance? Do the permissions work in the
User tool? I've had issues where if you refresh the mid-tier cache too
soon after a code change the roles seem to not work. If you wait until the
server group has recached and then flush all is good. This was on ARS 7.5
patch 7.

Re: Global Variable not Stored in Commit

2013-10-31 Thread Rod Harris
Hi Jason,

Yes, I have noticed this strange behaviour when using table fields where
you need to do a set fields before they can be used. It seems to optimise
them away if you don' t do that. I think it happens when using server side
table walks though, not active links so much.

For this issue I would take out row selection as the issue by setting the
column value into another field and returning that.

Re: Roles and Applications - Remedy Asset Management

2013-10-31 Thread Kaul, Seema
Hi Lisa,

Couple things, you may want to check:

Asset Admin, User, Viewer permission groups are mapped to CMDB computed groups,
CMDB Data Change Group and CMDB Data View Groups. Open the Group form and make
sure the asset permission mappings are still with the computed groups.

Also in the Role form make sure the mappings for CMDB/Asset permisions are in
tact to the CMDB roles.

Can someone please provide an example of java API that can be used to retrieve
data from a form based upon a composite qualification?

e.g. Form A and Form B

Retrieve Data from Form A where FormA.Field1=FormB.Field2

Thanks in advance

Hi Andrey

Yes, it is possible.

However, this is not really a Remedy/AR/ITSM question. It¹s more related
to which web server/load balancer technology you are using.

You can implement SSL using the web server or load balancer. Most remedy
environments that care about some type of high availability will use a load
balancer, and if this is in use, you can terminate the SSL connection there,
for simplicity, only requiring SSL management in one place.

Also, consider that there is some additional overhead with SSL, so consider
whether the trade off for performance vs additional security is necessary.
It varies, some companies prefer all web apps to use SSL, others will only
insist on this for applications. Depending on what options you have, there
may or may not be much material performance difference, but there will be
some. Hardware based SSL should be faster than software based..

Hope this helps answer the high level question without knowing specifics
about your infrastructure, we cannot get into specifics reallyŠ But google
is your friend, and I believe there are posts on the list on this topic you
can dig up alsoŠ
