HiI had major problems with Java 8. After talking to BMC Support I had to go
back to v6. I don't know if this has been fixed in the meantime.

Is this correct?

2015-06-26 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi Alli am posting this on behalf of a friend. They are having problems with
time display on Change. The server is located in Germany, but when users in the
UK use the system the Start Date and Proposed Start Date show the server time
which is 1 hour ahead. So the call can theoretically be closed before it even
begins. They apparently logged a call with BMC but were told that is as
designed and to change this would be considered an enhancement! I cannot
believe displaying the correct time for a user can be an enhancement.
The list search is not working very well for me at the moment so I cannot find
a solution at the moment, but if anyone can help it would be greatly
appreciated.

Data Management Job Console

2015-06-16 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi All
would anyone have any ideas why a job would hang in the Data Management
Console? It is not even going past the Data Load process, yet works perfectly
fine on another machine. On Execution with Debug it shows Remedy Application
Service as the User and Load Run in the details. If you need any other details
please let me know. This is a Training Server running on Windows with SQL
database version 8.1 of ARS and ITSM with no patches.
Many thanks

You should be able to search the forms "AR System Metadata: actlink_sql" and
"AR System Metadata: filter_sql" looking for the double quotes.  From those
forms you can take the Actlink ID or Filter ID to the Actlink or filter
metadata forms to find the workflow to update

Subject: Set field SQL statement correction

Hi All,

We have migrated  our custom (non-ITSM) ARS application from 7.1
(Solaris-Sybase) to 8.1 (Linux-Oracle).
Currently facing issues with Set Field SQL action in various workflows due
to difference in SQL statments in Sybase and Oracle.
For instance in one of the activelinks,
on sybase
select Install_History from CM_Change_Mgmt where Change_Request__ =
"$Change_RequetID$"
which gets error on Oracle, to rectify it I made the below change
select Install_History from AOL_CM_Change_Mgmt where Change_Request__ =
'$Change_RequetID$'
single-quote

Since I don't know for the presence of "double-quotes" in the workflows for
similar actions, what would be the best way to rectify the set-fields
actions,push field, direct sql??

Regards,
Saurabh

Hi JoeI installed AR Server on a Windows 7 machine with no problems. I have not
installed the whole ITSM suite yet, that is this weekend's project. I will
update you on how it goes. I don't think there should be any problems.

I also heard from a reliable resource that you can install the AR System
server (and perhaps even the ITSM apps and Atrium products) on Windows 7
Professional as it has the same libraries that are required for the
installation as a Windows Server.

He was sure of the AR System but has not tried ITSM and Atrium on Windows 7
Professional. I'd like to know if anyone has attempted that. If that is
possible, I  might not even need to install VirtualBox and create a Linux
virtual instance.

If anyone has successfully installed the whole suite (AR System, Mid-Tier,
ITSM, Atrium) on Windows 7 Professional, I'd like to know the hardware
configuration of the machine you used.

Cheers

Joe

No reason why it should not work. As long as you specify the correct tag and or
set the locale you should be able to send an email out with whatever template
you want. Although you might have to check that the special characters get
displayed properly.

I will second this sentiment. This is a Admin's dream come true. Upgrade with

What's the data length of the field? If you add a field greater than 254 characters to a table, it doesn't display any data.

Hi  Heba Hashem,

Are you sure that you are looking at the same record in table as in backhand form ?

for instance include some unique ID field(Request ID) in table as column & then compare your table data with form data.

windows\system32 is always in the global path so you do not need to set that,
also since you are running the bat file from within Remedy, it does not set the

Surveys Locale related

Hi
I am trying to find the workflow that sets the locale for Surveys and currently
failing miserably! We have Surveys in multi-national languages, there is some
workflow that decides in which language  the Survey will be sent out, and I am
having no luck finding it out. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.

Re: Crystal Report Dynamic Parameter Issue

2012-06-26 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Seems to be an issue with how you have set up your dynamic parameter. If you
cannot run it from Crystal, then I would check that. At the very least you
should be able to run it from Crystal. What parameter are you using and how?

I am able to run other reports that do not involve dynamic parameters.
However, when I run the report that has a dynamic parameter, it does not
run either from Crystal or from remedy User tool.

I created the parameter and saved the report. However, when I try to run

How are you running the report? If through Crystal then try running it with the
same credentials(I presume you have tried that), if through Remedy, then
depends. Did you add it to the current reports?
Normally that happens when it cannot connect to the database properly. Check to

Re: Concatenate two strings in one string

I would suggest without the double quotes or it will literally put
$Field1$+$Field2$ in the result. If you want the values of Field 1 and field
2 concatenated then without the double quotes.
Or am I taking this too literally?

I receive surveys regularly. On the last survey I gave everything a 1. It asked
would I like to be contacted by BMC Support regarding my response, I replied
Yes. Never heard from them again. I had escalated the issue to the manager, but
nothing much happened anyway, so I just closed the ticket instead of wasting my

if you select image property in DS and then click on Image Reference you might
find the image there. I have not checked  whether the image you want is there
but worth checking.

thanks

Re: Crystal report issue on joining the forms in crystal

2012-04-25 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi Wirasat
You cannot join forms in Crystal if you are using the ODBC driver. You have to
create the join in Remedy and use that form to report off. If you want to
create a join in Crystal then you have to use the database drivers.

Re: Import from the command line

2012-04-12 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hello Misi
thanks for your reply. I wish the problem was that simple! For 1 or 2 files
that would be fine, for 200 - 300 files! it becomes a major hassle.
Unfortunately since the logs gets overwritten every time it is difficult to
find out if anything failed. It is weird that Definition import writes to the
console but Data Import does not.

Hi,

If you are scripting this, you can do it yourself easily enough:

Windows bat-file:
type C:\x\y\import.log >>C:\x\y\total.log

Unix script:
cat /x/y/import.log >>/x/y/total.log

Import from the command line

2012-04-12 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi All
I am running data import from the command line, importing multiple files. Is
there any way to concatenate the log files to a single file? Basically for each
command line the Import overwrites the log file. What I want is for the Import
to append rather than overwrite. I have looked at all the documentation and
have not found anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I cant claim to be an expert on issues related to timezones and DST
conventions, but I may have a theory for your issue. Some time ago I recall,
there was an universal adjustment to the switch.. If I recall right, the day on
which the time changes were changed. To reflect this in the digital world, OS
updates were required. I’m guessing, one of your two clients (the one that
shows
it incorrectly) does not have that update..

A user believes there is a bug related to daylight time saving in software.
I can reproduce it.
Steps:

1). If I have locale->TimeZone sets to blank, and creates an incident,
its "Create Date" is 2012-03-19 01:55:06 PM.

2). However, when I change the TimeZone to GMT-5:00 (EST) America/New_York,
"Create Date" of the same incident becomes 2012-03-19 12:55:06 PM. There is one
hour defference.

My time zone is GMT-5:00 (EST) US & Canada. These two time zones are
GMT-5:00. Do you know why these two GMT-5:00 setting shows one hour defference
for the same incident.

This happens to incidents created between new day light saving time (second
week of March) and old day light saving time (first week of April).

what form are you running the report on? Are you sure that the form is not a

Its an assumption at this point that it may not be the issue. I forgot to
mention that it could perhaps be renamed too. From the description of your
environment, it is unlikely that these may be the issues. No experienced Remedy
developer would delete or rename an already deployed form - but accidents can
happen.. That’s a unforgivable crime in our world when it happens :-)

Maybe you could use Ben Cherny's Meta-Update tool to perform a comparison with
what you have on your server, to what's usually available OTB as he has a
spreadsheet with all OTB forms documented. He was just discussing that on
another thread "ITSM 7.6.03 OTB forms that begin with CTM:Ppl% or CTM:PPL%"
that I had started... Not everything missing from the difference you see may
mean a problem as some of the differences could be because of the components
you have installed, opposed to those that were installed when that spreadsheet
was generated. Also the patch you are on would also make a difference..

In the end, flushing the cache should resolve the problem..

Thanks for the suggestion, Joe.  Your comment makes me question how a form
could have been deleted when we're using an out of the box Remedy build, and
there has never been any development performed.  I am the only administrator
and I've never done any development on our system.  Is there a way to identify
which form is missing, and is it really possible for a form to have been

Try flushing the Mid-Tier cache. My hunch is you may have deleted the original
form that table field was pointing to, and created a new form, to point it to.

Even if that is not the case, refreshing your Mid-Tier cache would never hurt.

Lisa
are you typing in the command as you wrote below?

open a DOS command box and type java, see what you get. If you get the error
you are mentioning then you do not have java installed on the machine you are
trying to run the command from. otherwise you will get the help from the java
command.
As for the import, you can run it from the ..\dataimporttool or the Developer
Studio directory, you can also run it from a custom directory but then you have
to make a slight change to the bat file.
If you are still stuck email me directly and I will walk you through it.

Lisa,
when you rem out that java line, nothing happens because that is what runs the
actual import of the data, the dataimport.bat sets up the environment variables
needed to run java and call the dataimport class and then takes all of the
parameters you specify on the command line and runs java, calls that class and
passes the parameters to it.

I have had a similar issue, slightly different from yours. The only way I could
get it to work was to delete the forms from the target server. This might not
be feasible for you if you have data in those forms. You could test with
deleting a single form and then re-importing your definitions.

Hello,

We are having peculiar symptoms when importing some definition files. (The
definition files were exported from a 7.6.04SP1 system.)

If I export a deployable application or a fairly large set of forms and related
workflow (say 40 forms), I am able to import the definitions into a NEWLY
installed AR 7.6.04SP1 system with no problems.  But, if I try to import this
same file into an UPGRADED 7.6.04SP1 system, the import fails.  There are no
errors and the import appears to terminate normally, but nothing is actually
imported.  If I decrease the number of objects to 4 or 5 forms then it will
import ok.  Again, notice that it works flawlessly with a NEWLY installed AR
7.6 but only fails when trying to import to any of our UPGRADED 7.6 systems.
All these upgraded systems appear to function and perform properly from a user
perspective.

While running the import against one of the upgraded 7.6 systems, I enabled API
and SQL logging, but there are no API or ORA errors.

Background:  All UPGRADED systems were from 7.1p6 to 7.6.04SP1, and Oracle 10g
to 11g.  All NEW systems are 7.6.04SP1 with Oracle 11g.  All systems are
Solaris 10 for AR and Oracle.  We do not use AR Server Groups.

Thanks for any insight you may have regarding this issue.

Alfred,

as far as i know, error codes 1 and higher are used by workflow. So,
i assume there is a filter on merge with a message action that uses
error 78978.

If you dont know, how to find filters which uses this error, here is a
sql statement to find that filter:

select f.name, m.msgNum, m.msgText from filter_message m, filter f
where msgNum = 78978 and m.filterId = f.filterId

Hi Christophyou can achieve this with a simple flag on the form, say for example a field Show, which has two values, Show 1 and Show 2. The first table shows all entries with the flag set to 1, when you move the items from table one to two, just set the flag to Show 2 and reverse it back when the opposite happens.Set the qualification for the tables appropriately. That would be the simplest method, I am sure there are many more ways to do this. Shafqat Ayaz     From: "Wagner, Christoph" To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORGSent: Sunday, October 23, 2011 12:55 PMSubject: kind of selection

related to filter objects now?  Perhaps due to the new Overlay feature?   Found this interesting and thought I’d share.  Nate.  Nathan AkerITSM Solution ArchitectMcAfee, Inc.5000 Headquarters DrivePlano, TX 75024Web:www.mcafee.com     _attend WWRUG11 www.wwrug.com ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are"_

Form DEF File needed

2011-10-05 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi All
it looks like the form RMG:AssocCItoTS or (Associate CIs to Time Segment in the
User Tool) on my server has got corrupted. I was wondering if someone would be
kind enough to send me a def file of the form? I don't think I need the
workflow, just the def file for the form would do.

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Have you tried changing the work space? I am currently working with BMC on this
issue. The work space gets corrupted somehow and you start getting all sorts of
errors when you open workflow and try to save things. Give it a try, who knows
it might even fix it!!

If it is not a system field, you could try something like this:

Export all of the data in that field along with the request id field to a
file as a backup.
Remove the field from the form (after noting all of its properties) and save
the form
Add the field back to the form with the same field-id and properties.
Import the data that was saved.
Test again to see if your patch and/or Sync UI will work.

Just a thought.
Ken.

On 2 machines, on any workspace folder, I get a warning ARWARN 489 At least one

However, Patch installation and Sync UI are failing due to error received while
modifying forms.

Hi List,

Can you share your thoughts on troubleshooting this error that occurs on
Developer Studio 7.6.03 ?

Whenever a new field is added or an existing field is modified on a form (any
type of form), I get the below error:
Save failed on
Field does not exist on Current form - Code: 314

However, the changes are saved successfully in spite of the error. But patch
installation and CMDB Sync UI fail due to this error.

AR Server: 7.6.03
ITSM 7.6.03
OS: Windows 2008
DB: SQL Server 2008 R2

ARAPILOGGING from Developer Studio shows Error 489 - At least one set field
failed in a multi-field operation.
SQL/API Log from AR Server doesn't show any error. API and SQL are completed
successfully.

Thanks

Re: Advanced Search Query

2011-09-17 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
If you have only one segment for example business times for a single company
you can ignore anything except the start time and the end time as they would
default. if you want to put all the parameters in then it is the name of the
segment. So if you have called it Business Hours, then that is what you put in.
If you have called it BusinessHours, then that would go there. It is the name
of the segment not the id.

I'm having a bit of difficulty with this calculation.

Are they asking for the "Description" or the "ID" field on the Business Time
Segment form?  I am finding that 7.4.6 takes some things very literally and
others not as much.

The ID would be:           AGBC305B2A1C59UHVyTgtsjnUgOY8v
The Description would be : Business Hours

All of the samples have no spaces in the Business Time Segment name.

Use the following syntax for the Application-Bus-Time2-Diff calculation:
Application-Bus-Time2-Diff "startTime" "endTime"
["businessTimeSegmentName1" "businessTimeSegmentName2" . . . ]]

So would it be:

Application-Bus-Time2-Diff "startTime" "endTime"  "Business Hours" "Holiday
Time"

Or should it be:

Application-Bus-Time2-Diff "startTime" "endTime"  "BusinessHours" "HolidayTime"

Or

Application-Bus-Time2-Diff "startTime" "endTime"
"AGBC305B2A1C59UHVyTgtsjnUgOY8v"  "AGBC305B2A1C59UHVyTgtsjnUgOY8v"

like the customer to see the set fields before they hit save.  ARS 7.1p7Windows 2003Ora11g  Lisa KemesAR System

Shafqat,
The method that I prefer would be to call a perl script that logs into the
remedy server (via arsperl) and pulls the information from Remedy…this bypasses
all of the potential issues you mentioned regarding special characters because
the content of the field isn’t being provided on the command line.  Once Perl
has it in a variable, it’s exceedingly easy to do anything with that value that
you might want.

Initially you are limited with what comes with the operating system.
In this case on a windows system that would be echo. You are echoing
the contents of the field onto the disc.
cmd /c echo $Field$ >> file
Thats about as easy as it gets.

You are asking for another way. All other ways are much more
expensive.

1) you can create an api (java, C, Perl ) and call it from a run
process.
2) You can create a filter plugin and call it.
3) You can create a web service to contact another process and have it
write contents.
All more complex to create and more complex to maintain...

Thanks to All Gentlemen,
After the .def file import, restart arserver.exe and tomcat.exe, flushed cache
on the mid-tier config tool. Now the Object List is officially back in business
on 7.6.04 SP1... working great.

Thanks, :-)

How do I specify the order in which the selected fields are displayed in the

Questions

Is the CSV file on the server or client?

Is it a static file or is the file modified over time?

What database? What version?

Possible Answers
Hopefully the file resides on the server?.. If so AIE would be an easy tool
to use to pump the file into a resident table within the ARS created for
that..

If the file is on the client you may have some limitations.. You could view
the file using the view field, and there are a few things you may be able to do
on viewing the file.. Something you may have to play around with.. Running AIE
jobs from a client if this file is on every user client is not really a
feasible
solution..

If you are using MS-SQL as the underlying database, MS-SQL had DTS (data
transformation services) that could read csv files to update database tables.
That could be another option – Having said that, DTS was taken away from the
post 7.x versions of MS-SQL, but I think Microsoft replaced it with some other
tool that does similar stuff..

Re: AR 7.5 - Filters. Adding a wait time before the filter executes

2011-04-16 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Why don't you write back to your stage form from the other two forms? for
example you could do a Push Fields back on After Submit from your other two
forms. Have the filter check both values on Modify. I think that should work.
Unless there is a specific reason that you don't want a Push back from the
other two forms.

Andre,
You could write one filter that does a setfield from your ‘other’ form to check
if it’s done, then have a second filter that fires a goto action before the
first one until it returns the results you are looking for….but I don’t think
this is a very good idea…

Hello,

Is there any way to add time to when a filter starts its execution?

I have a staging form that references 2 other forms and I need to add about 2
minutes of wait time to a filter that starts a filter guide. This filter needs
to wait until
the processing of the other two forms are completed (Submit and Modify records)

Is there something that can be done to delay the start of the filter?

I want to keep everything in Filters and Filter Guides if possible.

Thanks,

Re: Email Notifcation

2011-04-01 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Another approach. Maybe slightly long winded and may even not be practical.
Depends on how badly you need this solution.
Create a form. Every time a ticket is assigned to a group, create an entry in
this form. when sending out the email, you can they query this form to see how
many current tickets are assigned to a group, multiply the number of tickets by
20 and use the Business time functions to get a date and time when the ticket
will be attended to. You will of course have to make sure that you update the
form with the status of the ticket. Run a weekly escalation to delete closed
tickets.
Like i said a bit long winded, but should work.

OK -- a totally different approach.

(No SQL to do at all)

(Something to this effect)
In the email say:

We look forward to helping you out shortly.

Typically - these calls average about 20 minutes to help somebody get back on
their feet with their issue. However - sometimes we have a couple calls stacked
up - but that is fairly rare.

Our stats show 95% of the time we help people with 30 minutes of reporting the
problem.

We look forward to resolving your issue.

If you have business hours setup, you could even take the count provided below

10 open tickets.

When a new ticket comes in to this group a mail should trigger to the user

The scenario is if one ticket takes approx say 20 minutes to work upon the

ticket should send in a time say 11*20 i.e 220 minutes

so the end user should get a mail saying your call will be attended in 220

time for resolution)

Any idea how can this be done

Range of Error Messages for ITSM Suite

2011-02-11 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi
Does anyone know what the number range is for ITSM Error messages? I know that
the ARServer uses

1- 11099 and 2-20999 and 14-144999 for all its error messages
including plug-in etc.

Thank you

You could submit the first record and then rather than pushing from the 2nd
form, grab the id from the first form and then create the third form entry.
i think that will work.

Eli,

The `! causes the filter to fire as a phase 1 operation. The Request ID
doesn't get created until later in the chain. That's why notification and push
fields filter functions are phase 3 functions.

Hey
list!

its been a little
while since I've built workflow so maybe I just need a sanity
check.

I am trying to
create workflow that takes data from one form (button press or via escalation)
and creates a record on another form.  On submit of the second form, I am
pushing the 'Request ID' to a third form to trigger another series of
events.  The first filter that does push fields includes `! at the end of
the name.  However, the entire process fails because it is attempting to
push a null value (Request ID) from the second form to a required field on the
third form.

Isn't that the point
of - `! - ?  So you can force the push fields in phase 1, create the record
and execute additional workflow immediately thereafter?

We're on ARS 7.5
Patch 007, Windows 2003 and SQL 2005.

Thanks!

They want to be able to open the attachment, make changes and

As I remember, I do not think attachments could work this way.

Re: Kintetic Request vs BMC Remedy SRM vs newScale

2010-07-23 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
In my opinion and this is purely personal, I would go with Kinetic Request.
NewScale offers a nice web interface but the actual programming to do anything
is tedious to say the least( at least it was a couple of years ago when I took
their course). The catalog aspect of NewScale is also handled in KR and
probably a bit better. Why not ask for a demo from  both and see what you
think? I find changes in KR much easier than in NewScale.
If you ever need to change anything after the base install you will appreciate
the ease of Kinetic Request. Get hold of John Sundberg at Kinetic Request I am
sure he will be more than happy to convince you!!

If anybody has opinions about the first two, please respond.

How do they compare in terms of features and ease of
implementation/maintenance? Price?

About newScale...it's advertised as a Service Catalog, not so much as a Service
Request management solution, but I believe the client interface to request
services is a part of it. I have heard positive opinions about it. Can anybody
shed any light on how its different from the other two? I know newScale has
been integrated with Remedy ITSM, but it appears newScale is also marketed as a
complete, standalone solution for managing requests. Is it fair to say that it
still isn't an Incident/Problem management solution as it's not geared towards
troubles?

Thanks in advance.

You could also open the report in Crystal and do Verify Database. It is
possible that the table name has been messed up in the report, so checking the

Does your Remedy User client have ODBC use underscores checked?  This can be
found in the menu Tools ->  Options and in the Advanced tab.  Also verify that
your Remedy application server name is listed in Report Server field (and
includes TCP if necessary in the TCP field next to that field).

Thanks again.

So, as per this query:
SELECT Count(Column FIeld) FROM HPD_Help_Desk WHERE Status = 0

In my case this table has only one column and the rows will keep on
increasing whenever there is a submit to that form.
Don't want to query , just need the number of rows from that table to
be set to the field.
So, my query should look like below: ???
SELECT Count(Case_ID) FROM Table1

Please let me know.

When an integer field is pushed from display only form to a

I need a validation at the button click itself in the display

Date: Sunday, September 13, 2009, 4:00 PM

Hi All,

Arsystem 7.0.1 patch 2   SLM 7.0.02

Looking to run some SLM Measurement reports.   Besides the ones out of the
box.    We have been having plenty of issues with trying to run anything off of
the SLM Measurement.

We basically created a join between the Help Desk and SLM Measurement to get
the fields we want.  Which are Svt Title, met/missed and Incident #, company.
We made sure fields that need to be indexed have been, this basically brings
our Database to a halt.

Wondering if anyone has run into similar issues and how they have dealt with
getting the data.

Thanks

Tim

Re: Qualification EXTERNAL() Issue - Returns Nothing

2009-09-04 Thread Shafqat Ayaz

if you are entering the qualification as 'Task ID' = "TSK01" in an external
qual it will not work, you need to put the double quotes within two double
quotes so the 'TSK01' needs to be something like " " "TSK01" " " .
I have put spaces to show you the double quotes, you need to remove the spaces.
make your char field visible and then have a look at what the qualification
looks like and you will what is wrong. you can enter the qual as you have shown
in the EXTERNAL qualification field and just right click on the table and
refresh it, it will show the correct data, but if you do a Set Fields then you
have to triple the double quotes.
Let me know if this fixes your problem or you need further help.

Qualification I am using is something basic like 'Task ID' =
"TSK01" just to test it.

Weird thing is that when I enter the qualification string manually on
Table Properties it works perfect, but not via the character field.

Hi Alli have a very basic question in ITSM.group notifications, do they use the
group id or the group name? we have an issue where one of my colleagues wants
to put the group names the same as group id for example if the group id is 1234
he has named the groups 1234 as well, although the Long Group Name is set
properly for example Company->Org->Group Name. This is the name that shows up
in the Assigned Group field. The other problem is that he has named two groups
the same for different companies.for example Company1->Org->Finance and
Company2->Org->Finance.We are not using Multi-tenancy at the moment and it does
not matter if people from one company can see incidents raised by the second
company.
My question is: what is the accepted wisdom for naming groups in ITSM ( we are
using v7.1) and will this group naming scheme work for notifications.
Many thanks

Re: Flashboards issue in client, not web

2009-08-15 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
One of the reasons you might be having this problem is that you are not using
the same server name via the client as is configured in the Mid-Tier. For
Flashboards the two names have to be the same. If you do not know what name the
Mid-Tier is using, just create a char field and then do a Set Fields of the
flashboard field to this field, this will give you the name that Flashboards
expects you to connect with. This especially happens if you are connecting with
load balanced servers. It would help to know what error message you get if any.
Generally if there is a problem with the server names you will get a message
something like Server[Servername] is not configured in the Server List.

One thing to check is to make sure that you have the Default Web Path set in
the AR System Administration Console (Advanced tab).  If that’s not set, it
doesn’t know where the mid tier is and can’t render the flashboards (it uses
the mid tier to render flashboards).  The value should look something like this:

Off the cuffI would create a field and set the the current time in that field,
some fancy work with strings and find out the time portion within the field if
the time sets between 12am and 6pm then run a filter to notify this person.I
have not tried this but I think it should work and let you get out of the

Hi all,

I'm trying to run an escalation within a specific time between 1200am - 600am
everyday to notify a user. While I thought this will would be quick and easy,
it is becoming a bit more than I wanted. What I have so far is 60 escalations
created with having each minute specified on the hour for each escalation.
Basically, for each escalation, all the Weekdays are checked and Hour of Day
selected from 12am-6am and Time selected for 00, 01, 02, or 03, etc. I really
do not want 60 escalations running for this request.

Is there a way to run 1 escalation or even a filter within a specific
timeframe (between 12am-6am everyday)? It's crucial for the user to receive
the notification when his ticket is created right away, since SLA requires
it. Otherwise, I could just run one escalation checking for that user's
ticket(s) once every hour.

Thanks and I hope I made sense.

I realize that it depends on a heck of lot of variables but let us for the time

You click on say for example Requestor Console from the home page
Click on the Incident Managment Console
Click on Search from the Incident Management Console
Try to create a new request starting from the home page

if any of you have ever timed these operations and would not mind sharing the

This would be an interesting approach but MAY not work if while deleting the
unmatched field, it recognizes the field that it is attempting to delete as a
core field..

The same goes with changing field ID's using archgid.. may not work with fields
having a core field ID.. but would be interesting to try and use it.

believe that the way this is supposed to work is it looks at the
Assigned Group and notifies whoever has the the Incident Manager
Functional Role for that Group. These do not work at all.

Do you mean CTM:Support Group Assignments? This form was empty when i

notifications.

Can anyone get the OOB Templates to work? Do they require some
manipulation to make them work?

Also ive created a custom notification to email members of a support
group when a service target is breached. Ive set a temp field with
Group Id from Groups form and pass to email action. This only seems to
work for some groups and not others.

Any advice on these SLM notifications would be appreciated

Re: Repost:Strange Error SOLVED

2009-05-12 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hello All
A colleague of mine solved the problem at last.

the culprit was a filter on the form SRM:RequestInterface_Create

filter: SRM:SRI:CreateRequest_110_SetWorkInfoType

this filter had the initial qualification of
 'z1D_WorkInfoType' = "en"

Since the users experiencing this problem were in Israel and their setting was
"he" rather than "en", this filter was not firing and thus causing the Work
Info Type field to be set to NULL.

this filter as far as I am aware has been added in Patch 9 of ITSM.

Many thanks for all of you who helped and pointed me in the right direction.

Paul
My apologies if I did not make it clear, this is happening on the Windows User
Tool and not the web.

Nicky
i have not only cleared all the files, the user was made to delete all Remedy
related directories( obviously not the program files) apart from the arcmd
directory and re-create them, no help.

Repost:Strange Error

2009-05-11 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi All
We are getting a strange error only on some machines running Windows Vista. The
error is as follows.

ARERR[326]Required field cannot be set to a NULL value-SRM:WorkInfo:Work Info
Type

The issue is that it is occurring only on some machines and does not seem to be
related to the User profile. The users can log in from a Windows XP machine and
submit a ticket fine, but not from Vista machines.
Have deleted all .arf and .arv files from the home directory, checked all
permissions on directories on the machines, all are in order. checked the field
on all the relevant forms, all are fine, the permissions are fine.

If anyone has encountered this error or know what could be causing this, please
help!

Many thanks as usual in advance for any help/hints.

Strange Error

2009-05-11 Thread Shafqat Ayaz
Hi All
We are experiencing a strange error. It is only happening with some 4 or 5
machines currently.
The error is as follows

ARERR[326]Required field cannot be reset to a NULL
value-SRM:WorkInfo:WorkInfoType.

The problem as I said before is that it is occurring on only some machines, the
only thing different i have been able to find out is that these machines are
running Windows Vista as opposed to Windows XP, where this error is not
happening.
I can log in as the Users who are getting these error from another machine and
do not get the error.
I have checked all the forms and work flow permissions etc and they are all
fine. The only thing is according to the users these errors started after we
upgraded to ITSM patch 9.
Anyone seen this error before? or can point me in the correct direction?
Much appreciated.

just to let you know the steps we have gone through.
checked the local permissions, all directories are write able, deleted all arf
and arv files, checked all permissions for users and workflow in the Remedy
system.

The two things pending I am trying to find out from the users(they happen to be
in Israel), are, what is the value of the Work Info Type field when the
Incident is being submitted and what version is the User Tool.

ARS 7.01
Oracle 10.2
ITSM 7.1 patch 9 ( recently upgraded)

Many thanks as usual for any help.

of the top of my head how about using an Active Link instead of a filter. that
should use the client time rather than server time.

Hi
you could look at the keyword $DIGIT$. You can define this in the pattern field
on the Attributes tab of the field properties.
if you need further help drop me a line
