Re: Any idea why Trials In Tainted Space became unplayable?

I saw on the Fenoxo news update he talked about a game he played which was called Monster girl dreams.  The post said it is text based so I gave it a try.  It is made with RenPi, just press V when the game starts to turn on Sappi.  You can find it at  https://threshold.itch.io/monster-girl-dreams  Not everything is selectable, I had to use OCR and snap mouse to navigator object or whatever with NVDA to select stats at the start of the game.I managed to get through a fight or two before I got bored with how slow Sappi is.  Might be worth checking out for people with more patience. It plays like a RPG, looks like it has quests, items etc.   It also has a turn based combat system.  It even has a weakness system based on fetishes and stuff.I did not want to make a separate topic for this because I did not fully test it.  It really seems doable though.

There is also a Corruption of Champions html port in the works.  Check the mods page for corruption of champions on the fenoxo forums.  I only tried it briefly to see if it worked.  I could play it without issue.  It is not complete though.   It is being updated often and should be complete one of these days.

I am glad TCG one is actually accessible. I had a lot of issues when I tried playing.  I admit that I don't know how to play the pokemon TCG very well and I kept wanting to check my card descriptions, including energy count, while in game.  It would be nice if there was a work around.  Memorizing all the card effects and energy counts do not seem very appealing to me.  I am used to yugioh though, I doubt that pokemon have entire novels printed on their cards like some yugioh cards.  I will check it out next time I am bored.

That is sad to hear.  Any idea what happened to it?I don't know of anything besides the ones you have mentioned.  You can try TCGone, it is a Pokemon online TCG.  When I was looking for a card game to play a while back I came across it, there was a screen reader related topic in the forum and it looked like the dev addressed the poster's issue immediately.  I could not figure out how to play it though, but since there was a blind dude on the forums and he could play it it might be playable. I don't think you can play against AI though, that is why I never really tried to get the hang of it.Edit: Just remembered Forge, it is a Magic the Gathering game that was recently made accessible, you can check it out in new releases room.  You need to use NVDA navigator keys a lot though, its not as seemless to play and you cannot really play online against other people as easily.  Definitely worth checking out though.

Can someone please explain to me how to select multiple cards with the prompt during events. The exact situation I am having trouble with is when I select options that allow me to remove more than one card from my deck.  So all the choices are listed.  When I select a card it shows that one is selected, when I select another number from the list it just assumes I hit confirm and proceeds and only removes the one card.  Is there some special syntax required to select multiple cards or am I being stupid?

Check the other MK11 topic in general games discussion, lists to resources are in post one there.  I think there was also an explanation of what the numbers and stuff mean in combo guides.  You will not be able to find combo guide without the number format, it is done that way to accommodate everyone since the game is available on 4 different platforms and each has a different control scheme. If you just want the in-game move list you can try the IGN move lists for each character.  If you want longer more in depth discussions of combos check the other post, it has links to several pages with combo guides.

Nope.Seems like another fan game made in RPG Maker XP.  There are a lot of these.  Some of them are very extensive with Pokemon from gen 1 up to 8 with 24 gyms etc.  They also play like the GBA versions of the game where you move tile by tile.  Always wished someone would try to use the Ruby scripting language used by RPGMaker XP to try and make them accessible.

If your opponent has magic or trap cards on their side of the field they are placed face down.  You are not supposed to know what they are.As for the card types, it provides the card type in the description.  It will say spell card or trap card or whatever.  As for the monster stars, when you press "Y" to look at the detailed description you will see a number with an X before it, like X5.  That means it has 5 stars.

YuGiOh guide now available

A guide for the YuGiOh mud is now available in the articles room.  It does not discuss the rules of YuGiOh as such but rather explains how to make use of the mud itself.  It does however contain links to resources that will teach you how to play very quickly if you don't know the rules at all.  The guide is meant to be used as you play, some experimentation will be necessary before everything makes sense to you.  YuGiOh is very complicated, so don't expect to understand everything the first time you read it.  I do think that just playing is the fastest way to learn. Good luck and feel free to provide feedback.

Re: Why aren't more people talking about the YuGiOh MUD?

@Dark I agree that help for the game should be included in the help files, but since this is a simulation of the physical card game the rules are easy to find elsewhere.  This game is very extensive and it would be an enormous undertaking adding everything to the game's in game help files.  Poor Spivey would have a heart attack if someone told him he would have to add all that.  That is why I am offering to write a brief guide to get new players startedAs for the AI, well, that is another complex issue.  This game is based off of an open source engine which i used for the sighted version of the game.  Said engine/core was adapted to work for us in MUD form, due to the adaptation certain changes had to be made and with those changes the AI became incompatible with our version of the game.  Long story short, there is no AI opponent and there will likely never be one due to the sheer amount of work it would take to add it.  This is a PVP game and that is how it is likely to remain. In all honesty it would likely take you longer to figure things out if you played against an AI because an AI would not be able to explain to you why it is able to do certain things and why some of your things don't work the way you think they should.  There is no drawback to losing besides a number added to your wins and loss counter, but if that bothers you, you can always just make the match private.  No wins/losses will be recorded and no spectators will be allowed to watch the game.  I know why this sort of thing bothers you, I usually prefer an AI opponent as well, but it is just better to learn how to play against others from the start.Any new player just needs to ask for guidance in the chat and they will be assisted.  We always want new players.

Re: Why aren't more people talking about the YuGiOh MUD?

@Zersiax The reason why a guide might need to be written is because this game is difficult to grasp for most people.  If you take the visual aspect, i.e. field zones and link monsters into account it might need some explaining unique to the MUD.  Also a lot of the guides to yugioh have quick references to card types like looking at the colour of the boerder of the card.  It would just need a lot of extra figuring out from a new player to grasp what he is looking at when he does not have that quick reference.  It is all doable of course, I don't know what colours most of the new types of cards are, but I am managing fine.  I just think the amount of info to process before you can actually enjoy the game is immense.  You are right though, the info is available if you look for it, you will just have to look long and hard.

Why aren't more people talking about the YuGiOh MUD?

2019-07-27 Thread AudioGames . net ForumGeneral Game Discussion : Tensoon the Kandra via Audiogames-reflector

Why aren't more people talking about the YuGiOh MUD?

I have been lurking around the forum for more than two years now.  I have given most games a try and I think I have a good idea of what audio games have to offer.  This is one of the few games I continuously enjoy and always come back to.  It is extremely extensive and since it keeps up with mainstream releases of new content there is always something new to experiment with.  The game has a soundpack and still gets updated.  To me this is the closest I have come to a game that plays similarly to the way I played it when I could still see. Despite that no one ever really talks about it here, I don't think it even has a database entry despite being around for at least the two years that I have been around here.  I get that card games are not for everyone, but a battle monster game with 1+ cards is just too extensive to ignore I think.I am just curious why more people are not playing this.  A friend of mine mentioned to me during the week that he found it to be too complicated.  If anyone else reading this feels the same way, perhaps I could write a guide or something for new players.  Let me know if anyone is interested.Due to the complexity of the game it is very difficult to just pick up and play, but it is so rewarding once you take the plunge.

Re: Games which are quite good in your opinion but got less attention.

I am baffled as to why more people don't talk about the YuGiOh MUD on the forums.I get that it is a trading card game and everyone is not into that, but it is very extensive, it has decent sound packs for both mush and VIP.  On top of all that it gets updated frequently to the extent where we get access to the same content as the mainstream players at almost the same time they do.  This game has a steep learning curve, but it really pays off to learn it.New players are always welcom,  allinaccess.com 1234. Grab the mushclient Soundpack at https://github.com/Timtam/yugioh-soundpackJust in case anyone reading this does not know what YuGiOh is, its a card game that has a popular anime based on it.  gameplay involves building decks of cards with monsters, spells and traps.  You then use your deck to battle against an opponent.  Imagine crazy party battle mode but a lot more complicated and with thousands of different cards.

You can download it in 10GB chunks.  Just start the download in steam and pause the download when it reaches 10GB, then you can just unpause it when you are ready to continue the download.  Nothing will happen to the downloaded files when you close steam or even restart your PC.  You can really just continue the download later.  You will just have to keep an eye on the download to make sure it does not go over the 10GB.  I am pretty sure you can even limit bandwidth usage in the steam settings.  I have never tampered with that, so I am not sure exactly what you can change, but it might be worth looking at if you have capped internet.

@AlirezaNosrati  Well its real nice of Steam to do that, but MK is the only game I've seen this happen with.  Is this a new policy? All the games I wanted last year still costs close the the equivalent of $90 - $100.  That might seem too expensive, but like you said, the dollar is expensive here, somehow that translates to games being even more expensive than they are supposed to be.  If they are going to keep this up I might be buying a lot more games in future.

I would like playing against other blind folks at first.  How hard is it to survive online with a game like this.  I know there are blind competitive players, but how hard is it for the average joe to get to a level where you can still win often?

Re: Is there a Magic the Gathering accessible game ?

That tutorial is a bit dated, I will ask around and see if we can do something about it.  As for the public decks, they do work.  One thing that everyone gets wrong, including me, is that you have to copy the number along with the deck name. when you want to load it.  So if you want to load heroes after creating a room you have to send the command deck public/1: heroes.  I tested it to make sure.Unfortunately there is not an AI, you have to play against other people.  TSP is always online because he hosts the server or something, he rarely actually plays.  It is very rare that no one else is online.  You must have gone online at an odd hour for there to not be anyone besides TSP online.  I will stick around there for most of the day if you want to see what the game is like and need an opponent to practice against.

Re: Is there a Magic the Gathering accessible game ?

I am not aware of an accessible MTG game, however, there is an accessible Yu-Gi-Oh game.  The card database gets updated regularly.  It is your best bet for a proper multiplayer TCG game. You will need a MUD client like Mushclient or VIP and log into allinaccess.com with port 1234.  Alternatively you can download the client and soundpack at https://github.com/Timtam/yugioh-soundpack/There is also a soundpack for VIP, but I don't have a link to it on hand.  I am sure you will be able to find it on the topic in the new releases room though. If you have any trouble with this just post a reply and I will assist.Hope this is sort of what you were looking for.

Re: Soulcalibur 6 (or soul calibur vi) announced

Since this topic is kind of revived I thought I would explain how to use exploration in Libra of Souls just in case no one has figured it out yet.Firstly, there is not sure way of finding locations to travel to when looking for locations like there is in the normal mission menu.  Secondly, it is very important that you have a fair amount of gold before attempting to travel.  Even if your cursor lands on an area you can travel to, you will not be able to select it if you do not have the right amount of gold to get there. So, essentially exploration comes down to exactly what anyone trying for the first time would think it comes down to.  You just move the cursor around while constantly pressing the X or A button (depending on the platform) until you hit something.  However, here are a few tips that will make this easier:1) Don't move the cursor very far away from the starting point.  From what I can tell you have to travel through checkpoints, so the next place you can travel to will never be far from the starting point, so move the cursor in a spiral pattern around the starting point while constantly pressing the X or A button.2) Don't hold down the directional buttons, rather press them rapidly in quick succession making the cursor move incrementally instead of making it fly over half the map in half a second.   Holding down a direction makes the cursor move too fast and you will miss the cue telling you that you are close to a place you can travel to.  Which brings me to the most important tip.3) If you move the cursor in small increments and you get close to a city or area you can travel to the cursor will snap to that location once you press the A or X button.  It will sound as if you held down the directional button for a second when it does that speeding up the little movement sound the cursor makes for an instant when quickly traveling across the distance to the area you can travel to. Once this happens just stop pressing the D-pad and press the confirm button again and a prompt will pop up telling you the price of travel and whether there is a mission at the place you are traveling to.Doing this can get frustrating especially if you don't keep an eye on your gold.  If your gold runs out you will not be able to travel anywhere making you search in vain, just making it seems as if there are no locations in the surrounding area you can travel to.  However, with enough gold it should not take you more than 5 minutes to find a place to travel to, and since this is the easiest way to get new equipment and food and I recommend you give it a try.  I spend far more time doing exploration missions than I spend doing story missions. If you need an idea of what it costs to travel like this, a place close by can cost anywhere between 200 and 400 whereas a place far away can cost well over 2000.  I suggest having at least 1000 gold before attempting this the first time so that you will definitely be able to find a place close by.  You will eventually get a feel for how far away to expect places to be from the starting point.Hope this actually helps someone.

Re: Aardwolf soundpack?

@Dark the only the reason I have not done that yet is because my testing was not very extensive.  I only played with one class and the game has a weird magic system based off of Chrono Cross where you manipulate the room by casting spells.  There is a colour grid which shows you which elements are dominant in a room and apparently this is what caused blind players trouble.  When I played it the rooms colour grid was just displayed in text in the room description, but I played as a fighter, so I don't know how playable it is if you play as a magic user.  I don't know if you can keep track of the colour changes and they have a large impact on the game.  I will go back to it some time and post in the new releases if it is truly playable. The MUD is based off of Final Fantasy, and from what I could tell they even made the map layout look similar to the games'.  It looked like a very interesting idea.  You even had limit breaks like in FF7.

A mud that flies completely under the radar here is End of Time.  I tried that a while ago despite folks saying that it is not screen reader friendly.I found that fact to not be true.  I got tired of it very quickly because I tried it just after trying AA, Artwold nd Erion in the same month, so learning another mud was not an attractive prospect.  What I can say though is that the few quests I did were quite cool.  The game also has a very detailed character creation system with a lot of races and stuff.  It required a bit more player input when it came to descriptions and stuff than I would have liked, but overall I think it is a game folks around here should give a chance.I do intend on going back to that once I have a bit more time on my hands.

Re: Aardwolf soundpack?

I agree with Dark about Erion.  The thing that put me off from that is the small player base.  I managed to win so many of the global hunts just because I was the only player actually competing, there was no challenge.  It was fun though, they have a lot of little hourly events and stuff.  Word scrambles and the like.I don't have a lot of experience with MUD's, I basically have only played AA, this might be going a bit off topic, but what put me off the most about Erion was that I never felt obliged to do any quests.  In AA when you are going through the first few areas of the game you have a series of quests, one leading into the next and you feel obliged to complete them.  I am only on level 20-something now and I can't even say if if it is possible to skip those quests just because I have done all of them. With Erion I stumbled into places at times that seemed like it should be part of a quest, I run into a room with some king or whatever, or I find the ring of power and there is just nothing to interact with, there is nothing that triggers indications of quests.  When I stumble into areas like that in AA I can at least identify that this should be part of a quest later on, assuming no one talks to you.  But usually they do, you can always find the NPC that gives you the quest for the area. With Erion I just got sick of the quests being too grindy.  I started Artwolf, but I got the impression like it is going to be a lot like Erion where exploration is not very story driven, but more about just killing things because you were told to.It would be great to play a mud where the world is a bit more fleshed out like AA's.  If Artwolf has a decent amount of varied quests and interactable NPC's I will give it a try.

Re: New sonification software for increased accessibility

This idea seems very interesting, but I want to make sure that my understanding of how this works is correct. From what I understand this software will analyze changes in memory addresses (not sure if that jargon is right) and will provide audio or text feedback depending on the changes.  The specific addresses and accompanying text/sounds will be added by users in config files.  The addresses and changes in them will be determined by something similar to cheat engine where you constantly keep track of values and update the scanner to isolate an address.  So if you apply that to old school games which have been thoroughly cracked wide open like the old pokemon games or final fantasy, one might be able to isolate the address for health values or a specific wild pokemon appearing and then add a sound or text notification when that specific value appears or reaches a certain point such as low health or whatever. If my understanding is right this may be able
to make a lot of games more playable.  Even if my understanding is wrong, even if it stops with fighting games, this will be amazing.  This will make us able to start on equal footing with simpler fighting games like the upcoming Fantasy Strike.  That game will be a fantastic starting point for folks that are not familiar with what is required to truly excel at modern fighting games.  After losing my sight I have just not had the patients to learn combos with all their ridiculous animation cancelling and the like.

I saw someone asked about the PS3 emulator a few posts back.  I have an answer for you.It works, or is making fantastic progress, but unless you have a serious gaming rig it would be cheaper to just buy a ps3.  My 3rd generation i7 overheated and forced a restart immediately after the opening cutscene of the first game I tested.  I admit I have no additional cooling in my machine, just the 2 or 3 fans, but still, having a main menu make an i7 go over 70 degrees celsius makes it a bit worthless to someone not willing to fork over a fortune to get it running.  Also, the 100% compatible list is quite short currently, very few games are fully playable even if you have a computer capable of running it.

Re: anyone here ever heard of hellblade?

Now that is the answer I wanted.  Or rather, the amount of detail I wanted.  You just basically killed half the ps2 library by excluding games with exploration.  I played Digital Devil Saga earlier this year, and it plays exactly like MGS as far as the map goes, but the map is enormous and has several branching paths that sometimes lead to dead ends.  So, despite menus being accessible with OCR and perfect navigation mechanics, I can't put it on the list, because there is no way anyone is going to memorize that map.  If you basically only include games with self navigation mechanics, I will need to think very hard.  I can't say that I recall any of those other than the ones already mentioned.  I have been thinking about it all day.  I can't even remember half the games I own.  I will have to wait until I can get to my old games and actually see what I used to play before I can provide any input.  I mean
, there has to be something.  Even though I could see, my eyesight was not great, I stumbled my way through most games.  I got lost in Onimusha often and I asked for sighted help once or twice with those games.

Re: Collection of Accessible emulators for the blind

Hey folks.I did not feel like reading through eight pages of posts just to confirm, but I do not see a Playstation 2 emulator on the list.  PCSX2 is an excellent emulator with an easy to customize control scheme. Although I think you would need a more than entry level processor if you want to run these games smoothly.Accessible games I can think of off the top of my head are Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, Tekken 5, Dragonball Z Budakai and then there are a few I am unsure about like Onimusha Blade Warriors, and The Gauntlet Seven Sorrows.  I played games on this console when I could still see, so I don't know if all the games can be completed from start to finish.  I also saw that the NVDA OCR can read text in the games in this emulator.  The accuracy differs from game to game though.  I can think of a few games that might be playable if the OCR can recognize text, like Yu-Gi-OH duelists of the roses which plays yugioh on a board
almost like chess.  You have to power up your monsters with spell cards and the specific field type grants some monsters advantages or disadvantages.  I can't test this though because my copy of this game and all of my other ps2 games in fact, are in a box in my parents' garage.  I will get them when I go home again.  Maybe Christmas or something.  Then I can add some games to the list.  The same goes for my ps1 collection and if you have a really powerful PC, or just the console, I will also check out my ps3 collection and add the games.

Re: anyone here ever heard of hellblade?

Well, reading the list of criteria I can think of a few, but the issue is that I cannot guarantee that the games are what you are looking for, I don't know if I am forgetting a puzzle or something that might ruin the game. For example, yesterday I recalled Onimusha.  It was a whole series of games by capcom that are like resident evil with swords.  I had the fourth one in mind, it had a lock on system for battles, it has segmented areas, so you will be able to direct someone quite easily.  Even the puzzle boxes can be solved with a regular game walkthrough from gamefaqs.  Then I remembered that there is a puzzle three quarters through the game where you have to look at things on a wall, count them and enter the number on a door.  The number is random, so you would get stuck.Final Fantasy VI for the PC might be playable if the OCR can manage to read things, but writing a guide for that would be the undertaking of a lifetime.  There is
no indication of when you stop walking, so it navigates like pokemon but has no bump sound when you run into something.  Also, I never finished it all the way myself, so who knows what might pop up later in the game.Everything I had in mind yesterday does not stop making the running sound when you hit a wall.  I will go back and check a few though.  If I find something I will post it.

Re: anyone here ever heard of hellblade?

What I tried to say above is that I have a huge history when it comes to video games, but not so much when it comes to playing video games blind.  I don't know what a game needs to be playable enough. If someone told me that blind people consider MGS playable two years ago I would have had a hard time finding the statement plausible.  I never even tried playing that since it requires stealth and stuff.  I don't have any experience with playing with a guide like you guys do.  I have always hated guides and still do.  When I was in high school I played Silent Hill 4 and I remember it had all these super dark sections and I could not see what was going on.  I used a walkthrough for that, but I eventually dropped the game because it frustrated me too much to have to check the guide each and every step of the way.  Give me a checklist of what a game needs to be considered playable.  I am guessing fixed cameras and
sp; small areas.  What about auto target when fighting/shooting? What about menus and item inventory, is OCR essential? Does that mean it has to be on PC? Does a game being considered playable enough mean that as a blind dude you have to be ale to play through it from start to finish without any sighted help? I can think of a few games that are perfect, but they require eyesight for one puzzle, does that make it not playable enough? Please think hard about what it needs and I will see if I can make a list.

Re: anyone here ever heard of hellblade?

Okay, addressing all the comments. The voices do tell you when things progress the right way, even though they may contradict what you are supposed to do.  For example, they may so "no, don't go that way" when you are actually supposed to.  They are there as an atmospheric tool and nothing more.  I watched my friend get lost once and he backtracked for nearly 30 minutes in complete silence.I googled the permadeath, it appears it is a lie, people are actually quite annoyed that the game blatantly suggests it and then don't follow through. As for the puzzles, I don't know if you can stand in a specific place and then angle the joystick correctly.  What I can say is that I doubt this would work.  The game does not really play off in a building with square rooms.  I have no idea how you would locate a specific portion of any area.  I will check when he plays again though.as for the camera moving by i
tself to fix in the direction you are running, I don't know if it does this, but I doubt that it would not.  It is a 3-D game, if you had to always switch your focus yourself it would frustrate people.  Games with fixed cameras just don't get made anymore.  If that is what you want in a game, rather play JRPG's, they usually have this mechanic.  I recall that both tales of games on PC worked like this.  I used to fix my camera on North, then I could navigate the whole map with the basic four directions without up moving me north the one moment and east the next.I do think the puzzles would be the deal breaker here though.  I will check it out and let you guys know.  I don't know through how much effort you are willing to go through a game.  If I have to read a guide and count every step just to be able to move I don't really want to play it.  With that said though, I do see ow a game like MGS can be navigat
ed since it is basically built on a 4 direction grid that allows 8 direction movement.  But, if this is what you expect here you will be greatly disappointed.  I have a huge game library ranging from the early 90's and I could still play most commercial games this past May.  If someone makes a topic of what you need in a game to make it playable I can list a lot of titles that might be worth trying.  It might take some thinking though since a lot of games have one or two puzzles that would instantly make you get stuck, but I am sure I can contribute.  I think the list should expand, especially with the new OCR in NVDA.  For example, I was curious to see how well it can pick up content in games and I saw that it can read everything in Final Fantasy 9, including menus conversations, HP, MP and whatever else you might need in battle.  Also, that game has fixed camera angles and sectioned areas making it quite easy to navigate if you
play with a guide, even if it just lists the exits.  The menu even has a spot that tells you the name of the room you are in.  It is true that usually at least 3 or 4 rooms share the same name, it could at least tell you when you are moving in the right direction at times.  I never mentioned it though because I have no idea how anyone would navigate the world map since the camera is not fixed there, the sectioned areas fall away and so does the ambient noise.  You might be able to play the game half way before you get stuck.

Re: anyone here ever heard of hellblade?

Sorry for taking so long to jump into this topic, I saw it, but figured that no one would even try to buy this, but it seems like you guys are not convinced yet.  I have this on my PC.  I bought it for my housemate.  His PC can't run it, so I installed it on mine.I have been watching him play it a bit, and I promise it is not playable.  Navigation aside, the battles are very tough, and if you die a certain amount of times your save gets permanently deleted.  This is a game designed to be difficult.   It is one of their selling points and it actively punishes you for not being good enough.  The combat system relies heavily on well timed parries and blocks, and sometimes there are a lot of enemies around you.  There are times where I cannot tell how many enemies there are, much less from where they are attacking and when exactly they are going to swing or if they can even reach.  I did not try tweaking the sound settings
to try and make it work for me though, but that is mostly because I can tell when I am just going to waste my time. There are puzzles that require you to see things too, as in focus on them with the camera, not just know where they are.  As for the voices, they mostly either insult you, contribute to the story, or let you know that you are dying.  They will not assist with navigation at all.If anyone has any further questions, I will try and answer them.  I can even ask my friend to test things while he is playing, but I think it would be a waste of money to buy this.

I would love to play through Stein's Gate since I loved the anime.  I tried finding the accessibility patch but I came up short.  Can anyone provide a link?@Death, I see on the Letter Horro's wiki page it uses quick time events which might be an issue.  I will try and look into it though. Also, if anyone has a link to the Narcissu patch also please post that.  We might as well gather as much VN stuff in one topic as possible.

Re: Question about Erion MUD

Since creating this topic I managed to go up by two levels due to a double experience period.  I just ran and killed things the whole time and almost gained three levels.  I am aware of the eq search command.  I was under the impression that it only works for mob drops, and thus far those are usually like level 10 equipment that have weaker stats than my level 1 stuff.  I will explore a bit more though, I also like the random events that constantly happen in the background like the chocolate bunnies and all the scrabble games.I doubt that this will keep me here for long though.  I really would like a more quest driven game with decent combat, but all the other games that seem interesting have serious role playing which I am not too fond of.  I like playing games with other people, I just don't like being forced to play the game with them.  Especially when it is an RPG.  In Erion I would have like a rival or two, but I agree that
Aardwolf is too crowded.  It sucks when you know exactly what you want but can't  seem to find it.

Question about Erion MUD

2017-07-30 Thread AudioGames . net ForumGeneral Game Discussion : Tensoon the Kandra via Audiogames-reflector

Question about Erion MUD

I started playing this on Friday and it seems like a lot of fun, but I have a few questions regarding this game for those that still actively play it.Firstly, is this game always this baron? I played for quite a few hours this weekend and I saw one other person the entire time.  Even when I check who is online with the who command it is always just two or three hero level guys and an idle immortal or two.  I am playing as a thief, and I keep dying when I have to fight quest monsters that are hard difficulty.  It is not hat I fight poorly though, it is just that my skills sometimes just miss several times in a row because I have not practiced it enough.  It would be so much easier if there was a tank around to take some of the hits. This is restricted to missions though.  When I just do random quests they are super easy.  Because there is no one around I have already managed to win 2 global quests simply because there is no one to c
hallenge me.  I managed to become the third best house point earner for this month on my second day playing the game.  I just leveled to level 3 and I already have about 50k gold which seems like a lot to me.  I don't actually know, because I am too low leveled to actually buy anything decent.  I can't even buy armors from some of the newbie shops yet.If there really never is anyone around it would ruin this game a bit.  A lot of this game is meant to be players challenging each other.  Is it even worth it to still play this? Mindless hack and slash is no fun if you have infinite access to resources, but you have to grind off of bunnies to get to actually use it.Am I also right in assuming that the NPC interaction is kept to a minimal? There does not seem to be much point to exploring unless you have to find something for a quest.  I mean, you will never find some weird NPC at the bottom of a hole that wants you to get food
for his cat or something.  It seems like all quests are provided by quest masters.I guess I am a bit too used to playing alter aeon, but for the amount of effort the devs put into creating secret little nooks, it just seems like there should be more.  Can someone tell me if this gets better? If there is at least a bit of motivation to go on?  I have read this game has a slow start, but this a bit too slow, especially since I have to recall and heal fifty times during a mission since I am too weak to be an effective one man army and you need a ton of experience to level up and get better skills. This game seems like it has a lot of potential.  I just want to make sure that it is actually worth the grind.  If the biggest thrill I am going to get is to see if I can beat my own best scores or do my best to defeat the most agile flock of geese to collect some feather for for a reward that is a tiny fraction of what I can earn by just winning a global
quest unchallenged I guess I would rather seek greener pastures.

Re: A mudding guide for newbies, questions and suggestions please

Hello, so just a quick update on that issue I had with Mush not reading the last paragraph of new text.  TSP on the new yugioh mud's chat alerted me to the cause of the issue and explained it rather well.  I found an old article that might explain it a bit better than I can, so I will paste it below:note on promptsMUSHclient, and these plugins, process complete lines only. This means that certain lines, such as prompts with no newline at the end will be spoken after the next line comes in. There are several ways around it.For muds that support it, enabling Convert IAC EOR/GA to new line in the Output item of the configuration will translate certain telnet sequences into a newline for you. You may have to enable it mud-side (e.g. config +telnetga on smaug). If your mud doesn't support it, enabling this won't hurt anything. Most muds allow you to put a newline after your prompt, or turn it off entirely. help prompt will usually say ho
w.In character creation where this is usually an issue, you'll just have to review the screen in order to read the last line of output that may have come in.If you want to provide specific instructions on how to get to the config option: Convert IAC EOR/GA to new line, it is as follows: Game > Configuration > Output > Second to last checkbox is Convert IAC EOR/GA to new line.Stewy, on the same yugioh chat also mentioned that if you toggle auto-retype it will read the last line for you.  This is due to the client then indicating that the option has been toggled and thus adds a new line to the output.  One can use this to get through the character creation as mentioned in the quote from the article above.  It appears that VIP does not have this issue due to it automatically adding a new line after a certain amount of time has elapsed without there being one.Since I have picked up this issue in at least four MUD's duri
ng my testing, I think it is important that you add this to the guide.

Re: A mudding guide for newbies, questions and suggestions please

I am at it again.  I am still looking for issues I might find when starting a new MUD.  I went onto TMC and just added whatever seemed interesting to my Mushclient.  I encountered an issue I am hoping someone else might be able to resolve, because I am clueless.  With some of the MUD's I added my screen reader ignores the last paragraph of text.  It only reads it when I enter a new command.  This is not exclusive to my screen reader.  The capture output plugin also ignores it.  At first I thought this was unique to End of Time since I have never seen anyone here talk about it, but it does the same with the Square soft MUD and the Anime Planet MUD which I know people here have played.  I can still see the text by hovering my mouse over it though. This issue is not present with Aardwolf and Cyber Assault.  To make sure this is not plugin related I added several global plugins which I used to test all the games.
; VIP does not seem to have a problem with these games.  It reads the last paragraph without any issues.Any help on this would be appreciated.BTW Dark.  In order for the notepad to appear when using the capture output plugin one has to type cmo for the plugin to start capturing text.  Just in case you did not know and need to add it to the guide.

I had it set to screen reader, but I just left whatever else there was as is.  It is odd that it is unchecked by default.  I added the capture output plugin to my Aardwolf, but it does not open the notepad window automatically.  I have not played around with it much yet though, so I will see what I can figure out so that I can tell you how to add that part to the guide.  It seems to me that there are quite a few people that prefer Mushclient over VIP and I find it hard to believe that people would be so in favour of the client if it does not have a way to make it ignore ASCII.  ASCII is very annoying and clutters up everything.  I will also do some research on this and see what I can find.

I used VIPmud for about 2 hours last night.  I have not gotten into any of the advanced features, but I can say that it is a lot easier to set up than Mushclient.  I am not planning on buying it though, and the constant reminder that I am not using the paid version is very annoying.  I think that it would not bother most people and that it is definitely a good point of entry for folks that don't like tweaking things to their liking and prefer having a thing work right out of the box. With that said, there are a few features I wish to implement in Mushclient.  W will be using zMush since it is already set up rather well.  The issue I have is that I don't know what all the plugins do and if you add the wrong one (even if it is just to the list without actually enabling it) you get an error.  Therefore I think a rundown of the essential plugins would also be necessary to add to the guide. When using VIP mud I really liked being able
to switch between input and output by pressing TAB.  In Alter Aeon I used to press ctrl and tab to switch to a notepad window which had all the output copied to it.  Which plugin provided that feature? VIP also had a feature which you can toggle in the config which makes the client ignore the spam which I mentioned earlier, which as ASCII art.  Is there any way for Mush to do this without some scripting? Is there perhaps a plugin which adds this feature?  Also, I use NVDA with eliquence  at about 60% speed.  How fast would you recommend I put it in order to be able to keep up with combat in faster paced games?

I installed VIP mud.  It is easier to get to work than Mushclient, but I think it might be worth mentioning that when I tried to add a character NVDA does not read the labels of the different fields that should be entered.  So I can see there is something that needs to be entered, but I cannot see what the field is for.  I managed to figure it out by clicking on one of the other MUD's and see where they entered what and applied the new MUD's info that way.

Okay, I tried that, it works better now that I have added the mushreader plugin.  However, it still reads spam.  I will try VIP mud and compare.  I am curious though, how extensive is the loss of features if you do not buy the full product.  What will you lose? That might also be worth including in the guide if a person might consider the lack of certain features too much of a pain and would rather go through the trouble of setting up Mushclient from the star instead of paying for VIP.  That is assuming the features that is not included in the full version of VIP is present in Mushclient.

Re: A mudding guide for newbies, questions and suggestions please

Okay, so I decided to try Ardwolf since it seemed close to Alter Aeon which I am used to playing with a lot of supportive sound, but, here I will not have access to a helping sound pack which will force me to try out all the features in text.  For this I am also using Mushclient, and I am refraining from using clients provided by the MUD developers themselves.  I am also using NVDA as a screen reader.MY progress so far:Upon being asked to enter my password for my newly created profile the client stopped reading new text that pops up and only reads the new text once I have entered something.  For example, when I was prompted to enter my name, I did so.  When pressing enter I was told that some questions will be asked to help me set up my character.  No questions ever came, however, when I hovered my mouse over the client NVDA read the line that it missed before which was the prompt asking me to enter a password.  It now does this with all
new lines of text.  When I enter my password, only then the client focuses on the line requesting me to enter my password.  I hope that explanation makes sense.  I have no idea how to fix that.Another issue is that it reads a lot of junk like  # # # #.  I assume that is just because I have not reached a point where I can use a command that would make text screen reader friendly.Any advice on the above would be appreciated.

his topic with suggestions about something so off topic.  Just PM me how you can be reached and I will correspond accordingly.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9: Combination help

Checking out GameFAQs probably is the fastest way to answer these questions.  I can give you a rundown though.  Fatalities, work in three different ranges, close, sweep and far.  Close you have to stand right against your opponent.  Sweep, double-tap back when standing close to your opponent and far is basically the other side of the screen from your opponent.  For the combinations you will have to go to gamefaqs or google.  There are too many to list here. For the X-ray moves.  LT plus RT when the X-ray gauge is full will execute the move.  Different characters also have different ranges here.  For example, Johnny Cage has to be close to his opponent where Kitana throws her weapon to activate her move, so she can be anywhere.  It might also be worth mentioning that Cyber Sub-Zero has a special condition for his X-ray, he has to be in the air when using it.For special moves you will have to look up a move list o
n gamefaqs. There are too many to list.  They are usually two directions and a face button, like down, forward A to use freeze with Sub-Zero.  There are exceptions though, so look it up.  If you try to figure it out yourself you will miss quite a few.

Thanks for the replies and links.  I downloaded the dropbox folder and I will see what works and what does not.I have not had time to try any of them yet though, but I was thinking about my previous comment quite a bit. Even though it is going off topic a bit, why are most of the multiplayer games free for all? Is it because there are not enough players to always have enough people to play 5 versus 5 matches or whatever? When I was playing The Killer yesterday there was never more than 5 people online at once, though I am not sure how many people can enter the same match, it does not seem like there was a lot of players.  I am just curious why team oriented play is not more common.  Forgive me if I am not aware of some titles, but I don't think I overlooked a hidden list somewhere.  If I look at the amount of topics and discussions about red spot and survive the wild I cannot imagine the online community being too small to populate servers th
at only cater for team play.  I think the Killer servers were just empty-ish because the game  is new or something

Re: An attempt to revive Swamp campaigns

Thanks for the links.  I tried out the custom maps mode, the issue I had with that is that it does not allow access to the shop.  The shop just remains empty as far as I could tell.  I just made a script that essentially functions as a more personalized custom map that at least adds all the ammo types to the shop and that randomly spawns items.  It is hard to get the item spawn ratio right though.  I think making games balanced is hard.  I often wish I could code so that I can put my ideas to good use, but I think I would have sucked at balancing things out.I think it would have been really cool if someone made a MOBA map for swamp that kind of functions like a cross between Smite, Dota and overwatch.  It could use Zombie hordes as creeps that let you gain experience and you would have to constantly defend your towers and protect your base having several different abilities for different characters allowing for healers, tanks, nukers/ganke
rs etc.  In true Dota fashion you would only need one map, but a lot of characters, abilities and items. I played a bit of The Killer beta yesterday and I played Red Spot for about 2 minutes before deciding that it is too overwhelming to even start figuring out how it works.  These games function like free for all shooters.  I would love to play something more team orientated.  Playing in teams might also motivate long time players in helping out noobies instead of just taking advantage of their ignorance.

An attempt to rivive Swamp campaigns

Hi FolksI recently downloaded Swamp and it seems awesome, I was wondering if there are still user created campaigns floating about.  I checked all the posts I could find on the topic, but all the links listed are broken, and most of them contain at least one person saying that the campaigns don't work on the newer versions. Are there any campaigns that work on the new version?  It seems like there is a lot of interest for campaigns, but since the game has evolved so much it seems like they have died out completely.I just want to get used to the aiming using only sound thing.  I am not used to it, and it is proving to have a steeper learning curve than I would have thought.  It would be very useful to have a simple campaign to practice on before I play online.  I tried scripting something basic for myself, but I am not sure how the item placements, pickups  and the store works.  I did read the campaign guide, but since I d
o not know what is available online I also do not want to have my shop selling things too cheap, or selling things it does not usually sell. Can someone please direct me to any topic related to campaigns or even just scripting campaigns that are still alive?

Thanks for the quick replies.  I went to the exact link posted.  It was not working last night, but it is working fine now.  I think you are right, it must have been a temporary outage.

Re: CP Deck Manager

Giovani, CP stands for Crazy Party.I am new to this game, I have only been playing for about a week or two now.  So, I am not trying to be facetious when I ask: why would you want an external deck manager? The in-game deck editor works fine for me.  I admit I have not beaten all the arenas yet, so I do not even nearly have all the cards, but still, it does not seem like it would be too big an issue. It may become a bit much if there are more cards than I think there are though.  I could get all the poison cards by beating the arena 6 times which amounts to about 30 different cards.  However, in the game's description it says the game has over 2000 cards.  How is that calculated? Is there another way of getting cards other than just beating the arenas? Am I missing something?

You can also check the topic I started yesterday.  I asked similar questions and received quite detailed responses.  The topic title was "how to go about receiving recommendations".

Re: How to go about receiving recommendations?

Unfortunately I do not have access to an iPhone.  I am using an Android phone.  When I got the phone I did not require any accessibility software.  I will buy an iPhone once this one breaks or I win the lottery.  iPhones cost more than some 4k TV's here.  It's that exchange rate again.

Re: How to go about receiving recommendations?

Alright.  I have a lot to look into now.  I am quite glad some of the options mentioned are free to play.  I did not expect these games to be as expensive as they are.  I am not from the US and the exchange rate makes some of these games extremely expensive.  It is also pretty cool that most of the premium games have demo's so I can decide whether I like them or not.  The lack of demo' versions of regular games are what made me come here in the first place.  I can still play the odd RPG if they have high contrast visuals and mini-maps, but most of them do not have demos.  I spent a fortune on Persona 5 a couple of weeks ago and I really can't play it.  I can navigate it, but it has stealth mechanics which makes my slow and sluggish navigation fall a bit short.Thank you for the recommendations and warm welcome.  I am sure I will be dwelling in the shadows of this forum from now on.  Like a true Kand
ra, you should not expect to see me around much, but know that I am here.

Re: How to go about receiving recommendations?

I am definitely going to look into a few MUD's.  The last thing I want to ask for is a genre I don't expect to actually find.  Are there any single player games with multiplayer options similar to Heroes of might and magic?  A game with a lot of different factions that have tactical turn based battles and separate town building and resource management.  Similar to Civilization or Age of Wonders too I think.  I never played one of those two, but I think they have a similar idea behind them.I used to love slowly expanding my empire in might and magic.  Playing with necromancers and raising everything I kill to join my army.

Thank you for all the recommendations.  I have a lot to look into now.  Other than the MUD's mentioned, are there any games that play like MOBA's?  Games that are team focussed like Dota, league of legends or counter strike?

How to go about receiving recommendations?

Hi folks.  I am new here.  I just recently started losing my sight to an extent where I can't really play non-accessible games anymore.  So upon searching for accessible games I ended up here.  This site seems promising, but I have no idea where to start, and just downloading everything of a particular genre seems like too much trouble.I was hoping someone might be able to give me a few recommendations of games I might like based on what I enjoyed playing before I started losing my sight. My favorite genre is JRPG's like Final Fantasy.  I doubt that I would find something with that kind of depth here, but I love the old turn based battles and class based character progression.Other genres I enjoy are TCG's like yu-gi-oh, tactics games like disgaea and FF Tactics, turn based strategy games like heroes of might and magic, RTS games like Command and Conquer and Warcraft and MOBA's like Dota 2.I generally like any
thing with a bit of depth.  I do not like arcade type games like side scrollers.  I would likely give anything with a fantasy or sci-fi basis a chance.I also don't mind whether a game is free or commercial.  I just really want to start playing games again. The game list is quite daunting for someone who has never played these kind of games.  A user rating system would really help newcomers determine what is a good point of entry.  I would appreciate any recommendations.
