[Care2002-developers] Small change in the information workflow of this project
Hi all, Please allow me to inform you about a change in the information work flow. This is a developer's mailing list and there should be discussed the discussion about developments. More and more developers just complained to get too much information about the hard word what we do right now and asked us to unsubscribe in spite of giving us support. It raises up the question about the motivation of most of the followers of this developers list to be a part of this project. We do have more than 300 downloads per week, so it implicit the idea that there are many people around the world who are just (mis)use our work and do not give any feedback. Here is the top 10 of the countries: 1. Indonesia 31 2. Serbia 26 3. Egypt 21 4. Italy 20 5. Venezuela 18 6. Peru 17 7. India 17 8. Sudan 16 9. Pakistan 15 10. Saudi Arabia 14 Amount of feedbacs (either positive, negative or just an information): zero. Just to clarify: We do not have any problem with that and we are even proud about that statistic. But I want just remember that all have to accept the GPL v.2 licence and it is not allowed to sell care2x under another brand name with licence cost. Subversion is a tool what allows development teams to follow/track the source code changes. If you are interested in, please subscribe to the mailing list care2002-commits. Re: [Care2002-developers] latest svn commits
Hi Tim, Yes, I agree. Maybe we should see it out of the point that not all information what a developer's interest is the interest of users (latter with the meaning of those, who are planning to implement care2x in a hospital and not programming on care2x code). Over the last years (let say since 2004 I know it) all basic discussion are all covered under the star of development - and all are gravitate around the developer's mailing list. Well, over the years there were a lot of mailing ist created and most of them are never been used. So we had focused now the most important ones: https://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=53886 Tim, that is what you mean? Thanks Robert Am Donnerstag, den 01.07.2010, 10:41 +0100 schrieb Tim Schofield: I think one problem here is that we have got used to having all discussions on the developers list rather than the users list. Also they aren't interested in the svn changes that have been going through in the last couple of days. Hi Senthil, Many thanks for your suggestion. Well, it is a still open point where and how to put these development news to the other developers here. Our first impression was that a developers mailing list should be the point to inform it with this development news... There are not more than normal svn commits like you have now just the feeling of - just now you will be get informed. We are using trac. You can see it under: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/care2002/ just go to the ticket section: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/care2002/report/1 (RSS feed available) Okay, hands up: Who do not feel comfortable with this kind of information? Then we will change it :-D It is a real pleasure for us that you want to see the latest development - because this will be the step on version 2.7 what is more a operation cleansweep than a real new version. We just plan to give here a clear level for further development. Hi Frank, I am using here ubuntu 9.10 / firefox and do not have such issues. Does apache and mysql comming from ubuntu repository or from somewhere else? I think the solution will not be found by care2x itself when the same source code it is working under windows (probably xampp) quite well. I would spend my attention then more to apache/php settings and maybe file permission on the server. Re: [Care2002-developers] Care2x future
Hi Tim, Let's do it together, like we started it some time ago with the east african branch of care2x. As you said, the billing on 2.6 is different is different. But let it divide in several tasks. First the basic interface must be added so that a patient will be added as debtor on webERP, that is the first step. There will be later coming up more discussion in specific detail about stock, pricing,... where the main question could be how care2x should work with or without an interface with webERP. Exactely on that point there is the close cooperation with you is needed and thank's a lot for your suggestion to contribute here your skills. Hi Daniel, Thanks a lot for the flowers, but it wasn't me alone working on it ;-) Please note that it is just focused now the English language for now. There is Spanish language basic setting been done for this trunk of care2x but just completed in English. Somewhere in Kamerun, not sure, is also a team working on a French translation for this trunk. It would grateful to get some feedback from there how it is working ;-) Please note that this trunk is not compatible to the database of care2x ver. 2.6. and it is a devloper's snapshot. So please install the example database on the svn to see how it is working. If you have questions please feel free to contact me. I think you should still have me in your skype list from our last conference some time ago. It would also be very interesting for me if you could take a view to the embedded ARV/HIV module there and if that would fit to your MOH requirements. Re: [Care2002-developers] [Suspected Spam] Re: Care2x Customazation
Hi easy, Well, it doensn't madder, openreport is a fancy tool and there are some others as well. But for all reporting endpoints (the report itself) you have to handle big amount of datasets - also think about the somehow strange handling of date in java based engines. However, in most cases you will need a data transforming and aggregation before you have a flexible report. By flexibe I mean that one data set (let's call it now OLAP) can be used for several reports as well. The question of Vonela Mguli was a bit unclear in what abstraction the report will be required. So why not suggesting then the biggest reporting tool what would be available, then even forecasts could be integrated :-) Robert Am Freitag, den 21.08.2009, 08:44 +0800 schrieb easy: how about openreport? -- 此致 easy 莫愁前路无知己,天下谁人不识君。 在2009-08-20 23:25:56,Robert Meggle meg...@merotech.de 写道: Hi Yonela Mguli, Sorry for the delay in answering your question. More simple way would be to use just the reporting tool from pentaho and prepare some select statements on the department and show the result as you want to have. For most reports you do not have the need of snowflake or galaxy scheme - a direct connection to the production table could be fine. Sounds maybe easy, but the detail work will make you busy. Re: [Care2002-developers] [Suspected Spam] Re: Care2x Customazation
Hi, okay, you are going now for jasper. That's fine. Jasper is a report generator based on Java. Such an report generator getting data from a data source, e.g. mysql and feed e.g. these (maybe even aggregated) information to a table/chart. You can use iReport as designer for such reports. Well if you compare JaseperReports with BIRT, JasperReports has more power in generating reports on your workstation, BIRT has more power by generating HTML reports. A while ago I tried a bit with Jasper as well and I can just give you the advice: Go to the jasperReports webpage and forget it for the first steps :-) Download iReport and start it. As far I know there are some small getting started tutorials and follow it. In the pentaho forum there are several discussions about what is the best. One comment I will paste here: Pentaho includes JasperReports as one amongst a number of reporting methods. By adopting the whole Pentaho 'stack' you might find that as your reporting requirements grow you could begin to use other methods such as Mondrian OLAP to cross-compare any data against any other data and thus relieve you from the burden of writing new reports all the time. Re: [Care2002-developers] Care evolution
of every module, or it should be and external library. The Code…. Here are a lot of things that should be changed and and lot should be deleted. * First there is a lot of code that should be rewritten, think about sql code inside the module code, which is not a good practice. * Second there is no real separation of modules, module files are scattered all around the directory tree, which makes even harder to apply updates and change code around. * Third , the code needs some major clean up; there is a lot of unused code all over which makes further improvements difficult. And a lot of other things that I didn’t mention. UI Major improvements should be done on the ui side, from simple things as changing the tab interface from using images to simple js, to new visualization of the ward, to the possibility of connecting a specific user or group of users to a specific module – an example is the Glasgow Coma Scale. The notification system used in the labs, pharmacy, depot, technical is a bit outdated, a little ajax could make it much more usable. A new theming engine css based could help much more and ease the creation of new UI. Other scattered ideas.. Other things that could be helpful is we should start to use automatic testing, modules can be installable from a central repository, the possibility of connecting specific users to specific modules, etc. Another thing is that we should avoid static configuration in files like $OpenTimes in lang_lang_abteilung.php and preferably have them stored in the db. this mail could be even more lengthy, but I hope you understand my point : c2x should evolve and it needs our help to do it! gj. -- Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. Definitely it must cover the medical recording as well as some protocoll the results of laboratory - basically all kind of things what will assign any service or thing to an patient in a specified role. Quite the medical aspect. To inclucde here to an HIS an fully integrated management of accounting as well as other aspects of finance (stock, inventory, car park, maintanance costs) is another view to the work... and quite difficult. So we want to go for interfaces. One interface what we have now is the open door now to webERP. Another open door i concepted as well. The reports. Here we should go for Business Analysis tools and interface them as well to have - in case it is needed also for another statistical usages - also data mining and forecast aspects. Here we have tested Pentaho and it was working fine. In the main branch of care2x there was this eCommbill. A simple billing but not integrated in the way as like it is done in the east african with pricelists and that it will collect automatically all kind of billable elements from all modules of an paitent and show it on one page... that is just in the version with the nickanme care2utu. For those hospitals who always have the need of an front side billing inside of the hospital. Re: [Care2002-developers] scattered ideas
Hi Tim, I wasn't thinking of a one man development team, but one man leading it. Basically that kind of project management is often used in OSS sector. And yes, HIS or MRS is a quite complex part of software and we have to think in that way but not impossible. My experience in open source projects is that when you have a community discussion you get a wide variety of ideas. Often complete opposites. As I said in this development group before I would like to keep open doors. This kind of free speech had often good results in the past - and that is how OSS is working basically. Try starting a discussion on what templating engine should be used. You will get several ideas from different people each with their loyalty to a particular one. And some who will advocate not using one. Now that is one discussion into technically details. There are several opinions in the past, starting from using an CMS framework to Zend framework as to the points we are talking now - a complete new generation of building software by having a high frequency of transferring informations between modules and care2x core. Yes, there are several options possible and it is really difficult to bring here an Solomon decision, mabye here a more monopolistic decision would be needed. The main issue in that project are the uncontrolled growth in several countries in the past and when I am looking to the svn then there is just the implementation we did for East Africa is the once and only who are just try to publish it back. But that is another topic. Maybe the totally freedom of using own ideas surrounding existing frameworks in care2x instead of the motivation to improve the system as it is was the main issue in the past. When we are going now that way Gjergj offered in that development list before would close that gap in future. That must be the way how it is working. Trademarks, code reviews and quality control are another topics. Here I would think there is a team needed, each of this core team should have the responsibility of their own parts. The way how linux is working in general. Who really makes Open Source Happen now in our project? Actually we all agree that care2x isn't made by hundreds of developers, but small groups of dedicated developers (not more than 10) could bring the solution for the knot we actually have here. This isn't a bad thing, but if you wait for a consensus to evolve you will wait a long time. At some point somebody has to take these ideas, listen to them but then take a decision. I actually would not wait too long for that decision. Actually the main core team is already defined. We have just to look into the developer list history for the last 3 months who is active or not. The strange thing is that all of these active developers having the same idea in their mind. Just ideas, ready to discuss and still a request to comment :-) Robert -- Create and Deploy Rich Internet Apps outside the browser with Adobe(R)AIR(TM) software. Hi Gabriele, the PHP5 compatibility is now been done on development status, and quite stable. The next release candidate will have that compatibility. There are three kind of users here: developers, consultancies and those who want to see them self in the role of consultancies but just complaining and not having any medical background desist from the idea getting code here and selling it as service to hospitals. I got some private mails from developers/consultancies here in the near past ( 5 - just this week) to share sorrow about the tone in that list and even some with suggestions to protect this mailing list with permissions to have a close circle of known developers/consultancies. I really would like to avoid that because it is really not the open source idea I am following. Open Source means freedom, also in his speech and meaning - but when I have now the feeling that most of the possible commits are not being shared - to be afraid to get in such line of unqualified fire... nowstrictly following my own interpretation of that OSS idea to share even those suggestions I got: What all others here thinking about that idea to split this developers group in a public and private area? BUT you can be sure - everyone who commits is warm welcome and please forget those replies from those who never commit and splinless use of pseudonyms/aliases in their from-mailingheaders . So please ignore those... keep on smiling when you notice them and looking forward. CHEER UP! Every commit is warm welcome and forget these trolls just complaining! Actually I just know from implementations of Kathmandu/Nepal what I have supported by some ideas years ago. I do not got some informations what happened so far after kick off or maybe implementation issues and its solutions. Maybe we could get some requirements from those countries who did it also. Same message I would like to address tho those who I answered PM's at Mauritius, Solomon Islands (who used the tribe idea of East Africa patient registration for their different islands) and all others in Morocco, Cameroon looking forward to your comments - Robert - Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW! Hi, Sorry for the misunderstanding and if it could be understand that I decided it, that's not true. And yes, it's true what you describe: I know at least from one hospital in Kenya (Kijabe) that they have barcode reader for tracking and using own maintained care2x version for registration purpose what I do not know exactly. But those hospitals I saw in Tanzania they don't have. That's the reason why we just commented it out for those hospitals what using this version. It's just came to me as hospital requirement. ...apologizing the trouble caused Robert Am Donnerstag, den 10.07.2008, 12:02 +0300 schrieb Jose: Robert this is a very poor assumption. Re: [Care2002-developers] Care2002-developers Digest, Vol 27,
Hi Alvaro, From wich country you are? I had been several times in Tanzania to see how they are working. They have barcode reader as I mentioned before, I haven't seen it on those hospitals working with care2x. The original question was why it's not visible and that's the answer for it. Please note that it came to me as specific hospital requirement and so its just commented out. All other scopes of typically daily work of e.g. the OPD are covered. We haven't focused barcode reader because that was not in the priority list or even needed. If you are satisfy, you can use the system out of the box. If not then you might have the possibility to reactivate the barcodes. That's no problem, that's open source. I just showed the code we are working now. Please let me know when you've released the code changes - it seems we should be able to configure it at administration menu on care2x that all are happy :-) It's an developers mailing list, isn't it? I can do that as well when I will find time to implement it and will commit it. What are the diferences from Care2007 and Care2utu? uh, good question. Care2utu is what we did for Tanzania. several implementations are there that it can be used as outpatient clinic version of the current care2x. Including a own billing system what will collect items what can be charged to an patient (because those countries are used to get the money before the service will given, that a drug must be paid before the patient will get it - as outpatient) I noticed that in the last one there are some file directories (like Hydom scripts) that would be better somewhere in include or classes or plugins or modules. On the first one there are also some directories that are on the web root and could be somewhere in a sub-directory, like pharma and radiology. Is there a reason for those to be on the root level? no - what we updated are the real developer version - and Hydom Scripts is e.g. what had been done for specific changes for one hospital at registartion. It's a real developer commit... Also -- and this may have being missed by me for quite some time -- what is the diference between modules and plugins? Are there seperated API for each case? We implemented all as modules, plugins we haven't used. Not a criticism, just to understand how is organized the program structure without reading all the docs :) No problem. This is the same version what had been former comitted from time to time at the tanzanian branch of care2x. Now we thought it wold be good to from it out as independend kind of care2x. So it is more and less orientated to countries outside EU or US. Like Tz.. Actually we kicked also all other languages out what we were not able to serve. Re: [Care2002-developers] Care2002-developers Digest, Vol 26, Issue 22
Hi, Perhaps even a better way to start would be to take a look at the free/open source/freely downloadable book from Karl Fogel's Producing Open Source Software (available at: http://producingoss.com/en/producingoss.pdf) Thanks, nice hint. I would start by reading chapters 6 and 7 of that book. I am sure that you will be able to immediately find a lot of easy and very useful changes to make. About Care2x code: 1. Making Care2x always run in the current stable version of Apache, MySQl/PostgreSQl and PHP should be among the first priorities; That is, according to my information given. If not, then it's not a headache. Or what do you exactly mean? 2. Have a clear Howto install Care2x from bare metal (either windows or linux): - Either you will be using it for serious day-to-day patient management and in that case you need to know (or have access to someone who knows) how to properly install a running Care2x Server. Can you explain that more precisely? - Or you just found Care2x and are searching for a quick way to check it and, in that case, you have the live demo. In that case you should not deserve too much time from the developers community. Care2x is not a Game or a computer utility that one installs over the knee just to take a quick look and play a little before and abandoning it to the next mew thing. - So, please, no Care2x installations over Xampp or its cousins. For serious clinical usage, do you seriously think that it will substitute the rock solid foundation of a a properly installed support stack (Apache-Dbms-PHP) over a properly configured server? Care2x does not comes with xampp or it's cousins. The issue is that on the one hand you should be able to install a linux based system, or you can use a preconfigured xampp. In case you have IT department, there is no reason to use xampp. In case you don't have, why not? A couple of sugestions: 1. Now that it has become a child's play to install Ubuntu Linux either by itself, or on a dual boot machine, or even inside a windows partition, let's reduce Care2x environment variability (installation, support, maintenance) and agree that the standard Care2x Developers Installation should be made over, for instance, Ubuntu 8.04 Do you mean that it should be available via apt-get? 2. Let's start reducing Care2x code complexity. In some ways Care2x has grown beyond manageability: - We have AdoDB to make it work with a lot of DBMS but most of the time ended up installed it just to work over MySql or PostgreSql Yes, but that's not the once and only reason to use adoDB. It's also a question of speed. adoDB is faster and has some nice features for developers (debugging). I would not say that a native mysql connection would be a better way. Alternative we could think about the way how ZF is using it, but that would be a completely restart of the project. (It does not fit how the sql queries are used now) - We have now Smarty templating just to end with more complex code to make almost the same that was done before with the more simpler project code Forget smarty. It's worse. It's a nice template engine when there is a need of template engines. But care2x does not need precompiled pages. Especially under linux it makes sometimes really nice results if you do not have writing permissions set on the smarty destinated folders. Okay, it's given now, and we can use it. But I do not think that this will help to continue for that project. Almost we do not have more than 200 users at the same time on care2x working. - and the list goes on... making it so complex that now nobody is able to understand it enough to be able to change a few lines of code and commit it to the CVS. I would say that it is not as complex as you describe it here. But if you want to add a new module then you should think how the given classes are working that your code will fit to the survey. 3. It is obvious that it is unnecessarily hard to commit changes to the present code tree CVS. That was the problem of many other software projects. That was the main reason why many of them changed from sourceforge to google code, launchpad, or some other platforms. Actually SVN is even better than CVS.. but: It is obvious that a DISTRIBUTED CVS would, in 2008, serve much better the Care2x project: we have groups in Africa committing to themselves, we have groups in Latin America committing to themselves, we have groups in Germany committing to themselves, we see a loot of emails with code snippets and bug reports that never appear in the Care2x's FAQ, or CVS , or Wiki. ...CVS is working faster for smaller internet connections. That's for East Africa the once and only reason. Nothing else. But the East African sources are also mirrowed to the SF SVN. All these people cannot be wrong, and if they are not wrong than there must be anything keeping them from doing the proper thing, i.e., reporting the
Re: [Care2002-developers] Post Installtion
Hi, Can you check if the name of the database and the configuration in your /include/inc_init_main.php fits together? If that is okay, a blank white screen is also possible by not having writing permissions on your gui/.../templates_c/ folder. But that should be no problem on your WindowsXP, but you can check. All other possible cases could be on your http-php settings of your apache. Please try the steps I described and if that is not working we can go into your apache/php configuration. Hi Rafael, The last release manager, Claudio, left the project. I do not have time enough to come closer to that issue to update the versions there. Any volunteer who could take care about that job? Actually, by a comment of Gjergj, this issue is solved so far. First tests succeeded and will be maintained soon. Actually it is running under php5 stable now. Hi Kim, Weve started same nearly same work independent from you. The first step is little bit different; were looking to have an php based ETL module what will feed a webERP application via XML-PRC. If the work is publicly offered in this channel it can be verified in online demo when it is finnished. Hi Tim, Thanks for that nice words. But there is one what I can guarantee; the project will not die. T integration of the current care2x in East Africa are really proceeding. Hi, Just though I would put my two penneth into this discussion. I have been following this mailing list for a while now, and feel a little bit frustrated with this project. It seems to me that care2k has become a reasonable product by v2.5, and is on the way to becoming a good product. Then it seems it was decided to scrap all this good work and rewrite it from scratch. Why? It seems to me that the way forward is one of continuous improvement to the base product we have. It also seems to me that the project has become so wrapped up in the tools that it wants to use, that it has forgotten what its purpose was. That is to produce good open source software for use in hospitals. My advice is to take what we have that is working (ie v2.5), look for a way to improve it, and do that. When that is done, look for another way to improve it, and do that. Anyway, enough from me, just let me finish by saying _please_ dont let this project die, by spending years deliberating over this framework, or that set of tools etc Thanks Tim On 11/02/2008, Dott Claudio G. Re: [Care2002-developers] Care2x V 3.0 alpha
Hi Claudio, Elpidio, Daniel and others, Just took this email to make some ideas about the future. First of all let say also thanks from my side to Claudi, for the hard work he did. Everyone who is working on open source knows how much work it is and how much of positive conditioning is needed to motivate to continue. It's a fact that in the last years there had been quite interesting requests on my table asking for care2x and how it can be used. Some tested it, some are just interested in but most of all just checked it out, modified it and I lost the contact to them. So I guess they are fine but haven't got any feedback so far. Let's bring the example from Healthnet Nepal, there was a request 2006 from one system programmer there to modify care2x 2.0 HEAD-release to a private clinic in Nepal. Now he is not working at this company, he moved to an ISP as system admin in Kathmandu/Nepal. His follower of his old company showed me once the work he did asking for some detail questions how care2x works. So here I saw that they did really Nepalese customaries, but not usable for rest of the world. Also some diplomatic issues of his boss of getting afraid about competition when he will publish and release it for Nepal. (Latter just a feeling, if everyone in Nepal reading it, and my interpretation is not true, just feel free to correct it :-) So that's just one example that the work we are doing are correct. Most of all assigned here on SF.NET might could tell similar stories and some of the developers did once such a job and now still reading the developers list. I will not say that care2x is lost, but actually Mauri is right. Care2x is an application for Hospitals what is worldwide used. Everyone having own requirements what makes the availability of scalable (and also free!) software so extremely difficult. So care2x is not stopped. By conception and working on the care3x, we are really on a right trap and by getting all of these influences, ideas and concepts worldwide it makes clear what we need: Really flexibility and techniques used rooted to the soil (Web application - no linked compiled stuff from c++ or just resource killing java applets). So let's start from the beginning. A registration module what can be used woldwide, in Europe, Africa, Asia and all other continents. Then we should use the latest technologies like MVC to have a good control to add, remove or disable components and each of it must be individual changeable - and most of the modules should be able to migrate. Sounds not realistic, but it's just what we have.. a free care2x used now worldwide but when it's running, there is seldom a feedback that it is what it is: Just working. Re: [Care2002-developers] Integrating the DB's
Hi Gjergj Exactly on that integration idea I will work. Next 10 day's I have some other tasks on my desktop, afterwards we can think about real smart and usable interface for that work. As I mentioned for some months, I do not agree that webERP and care2x should merge or even smelt together. When we following so called SOA ideas we and webERP has quite better opportunities. Hi Gerhgj, All price information should be stored at ERP software. The services a patient got is located at HIS (care2x). So that makes clear what application is responsible for what. Just the stock amount should be e.g. transferred to the care2x application - other way round the services attached to an pid should be transferred to webERP. [Care2002-developers] New testing release on SVN available
Hi developers, First of all, many thanks to the work of Gjergj Sheldija, a really active care2x developer from Albania! Now there is a request of comment for developers. Actually the dump of mysql has been changed on two tables. It reflects care_test_groups and care_users. If you want to test quickly then just pick out these two tables out of the mysql_dump.sql of the path /installer/db/sql/ He sent it to me with just one description, short and precicely: i'm sending the new lab module the modifications on the sequrity ( user - department ) some patches on some care2x classes... Re: [Care2002-developers] Why not Php5 and beyond?
Hello K202 :-) Reporting is one of the most flexible, smartest and interesting implementation right after accounting. We have integrated to the East Afrcian version of Care2x several reporting pages just for the need of the so called MTHUA reports, a kind of report what is needed for government, ministry of health. Reports are sometimes changes at the statement itself (statistical issue by changed requirements) and this will also reflect the parameters what is needed for this kind of statistical analysis. What means that if the report table changes one parameter at formula, it could be that one or more parameters to determine the result are not given and it influence strongly back to care2x. There is a simultaneous project called DHIS. You can read more on http://www.hisp.info http://www.hisp.info/ about their aims. It's different to the aim of Care2x, they have focused their software to a really flexible reporting back end. My plan is to figure out till end of the year how DHIS can be interfaced to Care2x exactly for the need you described. If you cannot wait till end of that year you can look on the east afcian banch of care2x, there you can find the way how I realized the reports I mentioned before. Aim is to build an interface between these two applications, care2x and DHIS. Every East African hospital has same or even more registered patients to the system. Using common SQL queries you can run into a timeout (result matrix of second INNER JOIN produced a memory need of 2GByte - this in a combination of common PC's as server you will get really trouble). If you prefer to use this way of creating own report pages using temporary tables storing just data what you need you can take a look to the way I solved it here, but it can just be used by MySQL 5 or higher - reason: temporary tables. I prepared a basic class using this kind of tables to store the parameters what you need at the end. If that is what you need you can contact me. Robert P.S: About Seagull - this is another topic, but I can read out of your kind of writing that there is somehow ironic in it - and I can understand. But let me make some more tests before I will comment it here more precisely. Dear Claudio and all care2x users, We are using customized care2x system in Sri Lanka since last few years back (2005). As we are using in government hospital some modules are not necessary and some are needed to modify a bit. We started with OPD module and now we are using the Ward module, lab and dispensary. We have already registered around 20 of patients. As for the urgent needs I cannot wait until which reporting feature will use in future Care2x. Then I chose one, that is very simple but a little bid handy. It is simple to generate the pdf for printing. You can check the following link, and the demo. http://www.fpdf.org/ One issue is, as the system was using on government hospital, a lot of patient admitted in ward. It means a lot of transaction on ward. When browsing ward's patient, the system slowing down and there is a big work load for server to show all the nearly 100 patient. I tried to change the mySQL configuration, but that query is slow as usual. How we can make it faster to show the ward's occupancy patients. Finally, I have produced and using those reports for the management information and statistic.. 1. Distribution of OPD patients by number of Visits 2. Broad Disease Group Report by Gender( We categorized OPD patients into 17 Broad Disease groups) 3. Broad Disease Group Report by Age Group 4. Daily Patient Summary Report 5. Monthly OPD Patient Summary Report 6. Monthly Investigation Summary Report 7. Monthly Dressing Summary Report 8. Monthly Injection Summary Report 9. Morbidity pattern (by ICD10) 10. Re: [Care2002-developers] Why not Php5 and beyond?
Hello Nicaroury, Thanks a lot for this information. But I have the feeling that there is a little misunderstanding: Care2x is not a kind of software to enslave anyone nor that care2x is software used in the internet (but on a local network of a hospital). Technology aid, as you had mentioned, is one of the most important factors by software engineering. So I guess your ideas gravitating around the long term support of technology. This is the backbone of each software engineering and conception what must be considered. Well, we can just follow proprietary or independent integration concepts. And I would recommend latter taking real requirements into consideration. Robert _ Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Im Auftrag von Nicaury Benitez Gesendet: Donnerstag, 23. On 8/22/07, Robert Meggle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello Nicaury, Java is a nice, (mostly) platform independent language but will rise some other real troubles what you can see on other developments having really troubles now. The basic idea of care2x is to have a web based application, can be really easy changed to the front-end what meets the requirements of the user. On the opposite you can see java as application framework, where you have a feeling of handcuffed design freedom.. Sometimes there is a crystal ball and a fortune teller needed to be sure that the language (here: PHP) and the integration way (here: OOP // frameworks) is used in the next 10 years. I count on statistics. so e.g. NEXEN, a French website who greps the net to build some of it: http://www.nexen.net/chiffres_cles/phpversion/17286-php_stats_evolution_for_ june_2007.php According to that statistics 33 % of webservers worldwide are using PHP (or it's installed). So we can say that PHP is popular, there are millions of developers worldwide what are able to migration work. 2/3rd of it running PHP4 by the way (june 07) Funny: I can remember to the news 11 years ago where netscape decleared HTTP as death and will be replaced with the follower IIOP (no joke, we are now back at 1996: http://wp.netscape.com/columns/techvision/iiop.html ) who knows today about IIOP, not even wikipedia knows that speculation 11 years ago abut future of computer languages! :-) I will not argue that just PHP will be available also in 10 years, but listen to the history of IT: Not the best will survey, the most public will make the run .because then we would not have Perl nor Visual Basic Let's talk a bit about the realization way, a little bit about object orientation and also to give Sven an answer to his great hymn that his webERP is even running everywhere. :-) There are many developers today avoid using object orientated ideas, even in bigger projects. Well, object orientation is not really more potent than procedural programming, but quite easier to enlarge/simplify by having low maintenance on the same level. On the other hand there are other well known and strong PHP applications not using OOP, e.g. Drupal (http://api.drupal.org/?q=api/file/developer/topics/oop.html/6 http://api.drupal.org/?q=api/file/developer/topics/oop.html/6 ) . Reason was that PHP4 had OOP, but in an inadequate way. PHP5 improved it more to the level of java, but they had to change some internals on exactly that level. We have to think big: PHP6 will be ready 2008, what we need is an language what is spoken worldwide, platform independent, what will also run on quite small servers with really low resource requirements but fulfilling even academic level that universities are interested in to focus it to their researches and disciplines. PHP is in my eyes the best compromise to fulfil all of those visions. Re: [Care2002-developers] Why not Php5 and beyond?
Hello Nicaury, Java is a nice, (mostly) platform independent language but will rise some other real troubles what you can see on other developments having really troubles now. 2/3rd of it running PHP4 by the way (june 07) Funny: I can remember to the news 11 years ago where netscape decleared HTTP as death and will be replaced with the follower IIOP (no joke, we are now back at 1996: http://wp.netscape.com/columns/techvision/iiop.html) who knows today about IIOP, not even wikipedia knows that speculation 11 years ago abut future of computer languages! Drupal (http://api.drupal.org/?q=api/file/developer/topics/oop.html/6) . PHP is in my eyes the best compromise to fulfil all of those visions. Our Intentions now to introduce a framework was to have more affectivity to the programming work without paying a price due stability - to go one step to the directions of having Enterprise level and not producing Spagetti code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaghetti_code) when there are too many requirements overwhelm us. Since now, the use of PHP4'th OOP and the work of release manager saved us for such death-traps, now we want to think big of introducing frameworks. There are many of possible frameworks such as Seagull, Zend, Symphony. just to have the most popular ones. The differences between all of these frameworks are mostly if they have MVC architecture (Model-View-Controller-Modells - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model-view-controller ) and how you are confined to it. Latter argument (the need of MVC) I would discuss here.. I hope there will be some comments :-) Robert _ Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Im Auftrag von Nicaury Benitez Gesendet: Mittwoch, 22. Re: [Care2002-developers] Why not Php5 and beyond?
Hello Claudio, A framework should do that kind of work... but not the sql statements:-) SAPOracle is sometimes a lucky marriage for management using big-shoes-management. Really, I have no idea how many hospitals are setting up the requirement that there must be Oracle or MS-SQL. The adoDB what is currently used is compatible to the mostly used DBMS, that is not really an issue. More issue and work is that the SQL syntax is quite different. There are mostly no similar datatypes, not even VARCHAR. There is no way out, just one and this is the way Elpidio showed us in the class_core... we need so called bridge-pattern to encapsulate queries to persistent classes: $this-Transact($sql) instead of using $db-Execute($sql) So the issue is the SQL statement. There must be this internal persistent class what will transform the sql statements to the DBMS what is used. Something like that... and this needs a high discipline for developers and quality control, because not all will have all common databases for testing own applications. Look at this: mysql SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar LIKE '%foobar%'; pgsql SELECT * FROM foo WHERE bar ILIKE '%foobar %'; db2 SELECT * FROM foo WHERE LOWER(bar) LIKE '%foobar%'; oracle SELECT * FROM foo WHERE NLS_LOWER(bar) LIKE '%foobar%'; All results are the same, but sql is not standardized whatever they want to tell us :-) Robert P.S. On Monday I will also try to set it up under ubuntu with the php version available at cannoncial and, if possible, I will look for opensuse what's installed on another test survey. -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:care2002- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Im Auftrag von Claudio Giulio Torbinio - Email Gesendet: Samstag, 18. Hi Robert As you have experimented, care2x works under php 5.1 I the reason that maked me delete the php5 compatibility SVN... Moreover, due to my clients OS, i must work on Win platforms, and on Vista with WAMP, i have no problems. I can swith between both parsers (4 and 5), but care2x works good anyway. @ this moment i am trying to test care2x on Ubuntu with LAMP (parser 5.1) Think we can release it as 4 and latest version compatibile. The restrictions to PHP 5.2 Currently, i have a care2x version running under MSSQL by using this class: -- ?php //sql server data access class //common class name for all database types.. //thats the first criteria. //you will notice that the name SampleDataAccess is common in the SQL and MySQL class files... //there won't be a collision as only the proper file will be loaded based on the DB class SampleDataAccess{ //member function to return all data. //our example is to return all base table entries //and ONLY the LAST entered financial data value.. function GetAllData($orderby='', $dir){ global $_TABLES; //this is a nice example of a sql call that works flawlessly in SQL server, $x=array(); $sql=select a.id, a.name, a.descr, ; $sql.=(select top 1 b.dollarAmount ; $sql.=from {$_TABLES['encounter']} b ; $sql.=where b.base_id=a.id ; $sql.=order by b.dateEntered desc) ; $sql.=from ; $sql.={$_TABLES['base']} a ; if($orderby!=''){ $sql .=order by {$orderby} {$dir}; } $res=DB_query($sql); $nrows=DB_numRows($res); if($nrows0){ for($cntr=0;$cntr$nrows;$cntr++){ $thisRow= DB_fetchArray($res); array_push($x,array($thisRow[0],$thisRow[1],$thisRow[2],$thisRow[3])); } return $x; } else{ return FALSE; } } //thanks to php.net for this function array_push_associative($arr) { $args = func_get_args(); foreach ($args as $arg) { if (is_array($arg)) { foreach ($arg as $key = $value) { @$arr[$key] = $value; $ret++; } }else{ @$arr[$arg] = ; } } return $ret; } }//end class ? - Is just a suggestion, but we must begin to think @ the more used DataBases in Healtcare (Oracle, MSSQL), as soon on an incoming release.
