Sam left me at 1:54 PM today.He was weak and nauseated.The vet came to the house and put him to sleep in a kind and gentle manner...After he left, I snuggled Sam in his favorite towel and summer blanket oon the sofa. Delilah , his mother, finally came out of hiding- I lifted her to the sofs and showed Sammy to her. She licked his face, and his ears, then bounded awayI talked to her and I feel sure she understands! Belinda, would you please post Sam for me for the memorial? Sam totally adored you and still does. Delilah's actions show that she knows what happened and is both relieved and sad. She will need extra attention for a while. You did so good. Procrit is used to boost red blood cell production, so if that were helping maybe the IR would too. I know there has been success with anemia using it. Michelle can tell you more, and others have posted sites about it. I'm sure you can Google it and come up with some stuff. From what I understand about it, (I haven't used it, but I did order some from Revival), it is a bacteria that is administered IV, (Cindy and Smokey on the list used it subq with good results), that helps the body by launching an attack against it and consequently boosting the immune system to fight whatever else might be going on. I know one of the side effect warnings include temp fever spike. I think Michelle said she's given it to two or three of her kitties and only one had the problem with fever. Another member, Kerry Roach had gotten it to try for her kitty, Bandy, but if she's reported back on it, I haven't seen her post. I'm not sure there is a fixed dose. I have always been told (by people who are really into holistic medicine and by a holistic vet) to give 4-5 drops in water or put 2-3 on his head or in his mouth. Do this as often as you think necessary. It has very little taste. Let me tell you a little about the Royal Princess Kitty Katt: She had cancer and we found out how badly it spread in November. The previous February she had made it very plain that she didnot want treated and we thought she would live 2-3 months. Given what I found out in November I decided that she would not have to travel again (she hated cars). This was extremely difficult as was letting her leave this world without assistance but it was the best thing I ever did for her. If Sam is in no pain you may want to let him leave on his own. Thank goodness your vet will come to the house. That is a blessing for both you and Sam. Any way you handle this will be right. But you are going to feel considerably more at peace if you are sure what Sam wants. Please calm yourself (easier said than done) and listen to him. I suspect it is not quite his time. Give him permission to leave and assure him you willbe fine but do not rush him. Kitty lived 15 months when thevets, including some very good specialists, said 2-3 and they were high quality months. If you can not calm yourself and listen, consider an animal communicator. But you are the one Sam loves and trusts and you are the one he will talk to best. My holistic vet gave Kitty an Alaskan essence called Calling All Angels. When I googled that phrase I got this website http://www.andiesisle.com/Calling_All_Angels.html I go there a lot when things are very rough. Try it. I wish I had had it while Kitty was on her journey from this world. Just so you know, she was never in any pain. She just got weaker and weaker then left. Again, try the website. Immuno-regulin and epogen? I would say the combo steroid shots, but if she already thinks he has diabetes, that probably would not be a helpful thing. Yes, I believe so. Helene is a nurse. I think she has had him on procrit or epogen??? Oh Terrie how terrible! How awful for you and your husband. Was there any other explanation other than stress? I'm so so sorry. You have certainly been through hell with this move. How are the other kitties doing? Oh, you must be just sick over this. You'd think that this move to a property with 3 acres would bring nothing but joy. So sad that you've had to bury one of your babies so soon. I just don't get it. What does the boarding facility have to say about this? Poor Sam. At least we have water and heat. Due to the stress of my Siamese being in boarding I lost one that broke my heart. All were Vet checked prior and were in perfect health. They had been in boarding since the 27th of Feb. I hold the mobile home movers responsible for this. My home was supposed to be moved on the 1st of March which didn't happen. So the kitties were in boarding over 18 days until we lost my "Sam" then we yanked them all out and took them to the motel we were staying out. I could tell I was going to lose a few more if I didn't do so. Yes, wedid sneakthem all in the room. Told housekeeping we do our own cleaning and such. We paid an extra $150 for a deposit to have them. They knew we had Siameses but didn't know how many. A few of you know what I have been going through. It has been hell for my husband and myself. Things are starting to get better but my heart still aches for the loss of my Sam. I am glad to say I was able to bring him home to bury him on our new property. Thank god it was raining that day because while I was burying him I was crying my eyeballs out. He didn't have to die but I knew in my heart that it was stress and anxiety that got him. The amazing thing was on our way to see the cats before taking them to the room there was a beautiful rainbow that afternoon. My husband commented afterwards that it was Sam passing and going to the bridge. So reality is I'm back and hope to get my cattery built when the funds become available. P.S. Oh I'm so sorry to hear of Sweet Angel Sam and Ducky crossing to Rainbow Bridge - so many losses lately yet again - this blasted disease is so heartbreaking but on the other if our kitties had been in the hands of others their short lives may have been much worse so I'm sure they would rather have the life they had full of love and care with FeLV than an alternative minus FeLV. I know given the chance I choose the former. God bless you and everyone else for giving these kitties the life they deserve. The important thing is their life was full of love and care and it certainly was. I have just been crying reading Jen's latest message - you will seek reminders for a while. When Tidge passed I found sanity in creative arts after a couple of weeks if anyone wants to see the poem I wrote then let me know and I'll post it. It helped me at the time to get it out on paper. Jen I do believe Ewok was letting you know he's ok by being in your dreams I have had sightings of bramble since he died and also when I was in Crisis with Bramble I saw Tidge in my dream ssaying don't give up yet - and Bramble had another 2 months with me after that. Thanks, Patti. He does move around, but mostly lays ... kitties do sleep a LOT anyway. His legs are gradually regaining functionbut periodically he seems uncomfortable. I'll be happy to have his ECHO and EKG done coming Friday, 12/9, and have more of an idea about his heart. I am so glad that you have Sam, and have an intension to keep him unless it's a REALLY good home - I hope he will get to say with you for the rest of his life - or I would come pick him up to adopt him otherwise - I think you guys are meant to be together - and you and your friend Susan did such a good job! Every time when I am fortunate to enough to be reunited with animals that have been missing whether they are originally mine or not, I have a very difficult time to let them go to someone else - as I feel like god has given me the 2nd chance to take care of and I feel like I need to make sure they are well taken care of for the rest of their lives.. Hey - I was doing meditations also, like you wrote me about. That fellow Sam sure gave us a scare... and some exercise. It took him a few hours to sidle up to his old pal Blue, once he got to my house, but now they're buddies again. He's a little skittish - when strangers come in or whatever it's back to hiding under the couch. Sam is sitting in my living room window! If a good forever home is interested, we'll see. He apparently had been one block or 2 west of the foster home, then someone tried to catch him and he ran east. So when we found him, he was, 2 blocks east of the foster home, roughly, and across a major road (Main Street in North Little Rock - occasional heavy traffic, not always). We just didn't expect him to cross that Main Street, so hadn't put out flyers in homes over there, just at the Mini Mart! I had to slide out at bit and at some point Sam got scared and ran into the back yard. We attracted some of the neighborhood kids, too. Long story short, he jumped over a fence, went under a vacant house, where there was a live possum and an armadillo, so pretty soon he was outa there - I was glad! Headed for the next house and under it. By that time, Susan made it over to where it was all happening. Fortunately, the house he was under had only one opening, and had a pretty neat large crawl space. He kept hiding behind the big air conditioning stuff and we couldn't get to him. Susan - in spite of spiders, dirt and claustrophobia - crawled under and set a couple of traps laced with cat food, mackerel, salmon juice, and a cup of milk. We sat in the driveway just about all day, except for a 2 hour break, checking under the house and eating junk food. About 9:15 or so tonight, Sam just walked up to the access door. Susan said, he's right there! We talked to him and I reached my hand in and petted him, I think he remembered me - nd pretty soon grabbed him. He tried to get away, and Susan scruffed him and got him to the car and WE GOT OUR SAM BACK - YEAA! He was doing the Siamese meow-meow all the way home, and it was great to hear! Offering a reward, but not saying on the poster how much. Diane says she feels he's near water, and hiding. We've been looking. We've been out just about everyday, and get great help from the kids in the neighborhood. Got it narrowed down to a few houses nearby, where they've seen a Siamese cat, just haven't seen Sam. Oh.. poor baby, he is probably very scared - important thing is that kids do not try to find him or chase him as they may think they are helping but actually it will scare him more, and you don't really want Sam to move or get scared away and go some place else where it might not be safe. It's also helpful to put a flyer on an every single door of every single house instead of putting some on the posts on the street - every time I needed to look for a cat for myself or for someone, I did that way, and it has a much better success rate than putting them on post - then, you can make sure that they have your phone number with them at home and they usually keep the flyer for a while that way - it's a lot of work and it's definitely worth it - I had about 75% success rate of finding them this way. Also, on the flyer, if they see a cat similar to Sam, ask them to put the food out for him so that he will stick around - and you can perhaps set a trap there once you confirm that he is eating there - food availability is very so important for Sam so that he will feel safe and will stay the place. I would really like it if you can call Dr. Geri Ryan to find out about the meditation information - some might think it's stupid, but she said that it's very effective - I wrote down some, but I don't think I have all the wording correctly - Also, again please call Marta Williams if you need the 2nd opinion - she is very very good about finding a lost animal - she can actually sometimes, visualize exactly what path they took to get where they arrived - sorry for being pushy - but I wanted to make sure that Sam is OK and can be found asap - please keep us posted - I will pray. The meditation goes like You imagine a golden koyo (?), coming from your heart center, reaching out into the world, searching and for Sam. Latch onto like a magnet and guiding him safely home She suggested you meditate as many as you can (and your friends, too),she told me that it's amazing how well it works, and you can be re-united with your animals most amazing way. Oh, also...I caught this strand late...so I don't know all that you've tried, but...if you find that someone "thinks" they see Sam, and its close by...or at least near a neighbor who would be willing to keep an eye out for you.leave a dirty sock nearby (there are more scent glands on your feet than other parts of your body I'm told)...consitantly day after day. If Sam is around and frightened, the continuous smell of you might help to draw him near one place over and over again. Leave food near the sock as well. Be consitant WHEN you renew the used sock and foodesp. if you can time it around the time you would normally be coming home from work...or when Sam would normally be fed. (Only problem...the food could draw others who might scare Sam off, so whether or not you leave the food is your call.) Again, if someone "spots" him close by, try walking to that area with your shoes on, taking them off there and straight walking home. Cats DO follow scent, and if Sam is lost and scared...your scent (or whoever he is closest to in the family) might just draw him home. Just becareful to stay away from roads and the ends of driveways as much as possible...try to pick a safe route home for him...then leave an outside light on and a screened window "open" so you can hear him if he comes calling. Lastly, tell the AC to try to send a visual to Sam what you are doing to help him find his way home. Animals communicate, it is believed, not through words but more like an autistic child would. Great idea about asking AC to send an energy to bring him home they can send Sam an energy to tell him how to get home, sending a picture of how to get home (though, I think the problem might be that he does not think his foster family is not his home as he probably thinks of his former mother as a home, and I think thats why he has not gotten home yet. I think once he is spotted, if he is a skittish kitty ( which I get a feeling of), you might have to try to set a trap from him AFER establishing a feeding pattern every day for a while If someone calls you with any information, try to get all the detail as much as possible, time of the day (very important as cats do like to follow a pattern and you can then stake out to spot him, exact location, and if he runs away, find out exactly which location he came from and which direction he went, what was he doing when they saw him exactly? Near water can also mean trapped inside a wall near the water pipes, stuck on a roof with rain gutters, trapped in a damp basement, outside in the morning dew, outside in the rain, and any other various sources of water. In fact, it would be hard for him to not be near water to some extent, especially since he's lost, and has probably gotten a bit thirsty by now, and is most likely seeking out a drink if possible. I guess I'm just a critic, but really, near water doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. Thanks to all. Foster mom is only 21, worked at a Vet clinic, nice girl. She was packing to move, I was to pick them up soon. She didn't think he'd go outside (!), as he was upstairs, and propped the door open to move boxes out. Then she didn't tell me for a few days, embarrassed. Yes, I was very upset, told her she should have called ASAP! No, the lady doesn't know. I'm going to tell her son, but we probably won't tell her. She's 70, had knee surgery, and something a bout it (anesthetic) disoriented her mind somewhat - she moved in with a daughter. Probably doesn't need to know. A very mixed neighborhood - rentals, businesses, homes. People are nice, we've talked to them and passed out flyers. SIgh. Gloria, I read about lost pets once Jersey didn't show up almost 3 days. 1. Cats are getting accustomed to their homes. I have read about cats that crossed 100- 150 km to get back to their first house. So, how far the house of the old lady is from the foster home? Cats have perfect intuition and it is possible that he might get back there. 2. If the cat had a favoutite toy take that toy and make a noise with it when searching. 3. On the flyers put a reward but do not specify the amount. 4. It is possible that somebody is feeding that pet. Ask for people in the neighbourhood that have cats, dogs or love to take care of animals. Jersey had some fans in our neighbourhod that fed him from time to time. 5. Cats might hide in all kinds of unexpected places. Search everywhere- even look beneath the cars, garbage containers (there is food there), etc. 6. Presumably, being an inside cat he is not far away from the foster home. It is very important to let me know what is the physical distance b/n the lady's house and the foster home. 7. To make sure he is alive, call the DMV or the MVB. If I cat is hit by car they take it. 8. very important: Once he is hungry he might come back by himself. Tell the people in the foster home to keep an eye at anytime. I beieve this is the most possible outcome. 2-3 days, even a week later he might get home. Ok Keep me in touch...and Good luck. Gloria, When talking with people just say that he is 17. The breed is expensive and some people might want to make money selling the cat BUT if he is 17 years old they will know that the price will not be high. So, if someone is taking care of him he might prefer to get the reward rather than trying to sell it. Again, I believe that he is going to be back to the lady's house ot the foster home. Thanks, Stan - that's a useful and great list. The former home is 5.7 miles north of the foster home. The former owner was an astrologer. Gloria Gloria, I read about lost pets once Jersey didn't show up almost 3 days. 1. Cats are getting accustomed to their homes. I have read about cats that crossed 100- 150 km to get back to their first house. So, how far the house of the old lady is from the foster home? Cats have perfect intuition and it is possible that he might get back there. 2. If the cat had a favoutite toy take that toy and make a noise with it when searching. 3. On the flyers put a reward but do not specify the amount. 4. It is possible that somebody is feeding that pet. Ask for people in the neighbourhood that have cats, dogs or love to take care of animals. Jersey had some fans in our neighbourhod that fed him from time to time. 5. Cats might hide in all kinds of unexpected places. Search everywhere- even look beneath the cars, garbage containers (there is food there), etc. 6. Presumably, being an inside cat he is not far away from the foster home. It is very important to let me know what is the physical distance b/n the lady's house and the foster home. 7. To make sure he is alive, call the DMV or the MVB. If I cat is hit by car they take it. 8. very important: Once he is hungry he might come back by himself. Tell the people in the foster home to keep an eye at anytime. I beieve this is the most possible outcome. 2-3 days, even a week later he might get home. Ok Keep me in touch...and Good luck. You know, I will never understand what people are thinking when they opt to separate loved ones and their pets. If they care about this old lady, and she's gone to live with a daughter, (that's what you said right?), then why couldn't they make room for her kitty? People are really frustrating sometimes. Gloria, I think he is going to be back at the foster home because he has been an inside cat all his life and he will be afraid to hike around. Cats are territorial and he is not willing to enter other cat's territory. He can be in radius of half a mile around the foster home. That is suggestion N1. It is possible though to get to the lady's house. 6 miles are not so many for cats. Distrinute flyers at around both places. Talk with people. Does he have an tag ID? Even if he has, make sure you put downthe phone number clearly. Make sure you put a nice clear photo of Sam. if you see kids playing somewhere talk withthem also. They remember such kind of information and they spend a lot of time playingoutside. I am pretty sure he is safe because noone has any benefit of hurting the cat. the point is to find him. don't give up. sometimes cats return to their owners after weeks and months. Gloria, I don't know how your schedule is. Can you try to take someone and search together around the building of the foster house- basemet, etc. One week is not a long time but since he was not back, it means that he is getting food and waterfrom somewhere. Some people leave food in front of their houses for any wild animals they feed. Are there houses around the foster home, just go and talk with people. Good luck again and don't give up.
