Hi,

I'm pursuing this card a long time but the author has depleted his stock
years ago and still he has not made another batch, I ask him about twice
a year and probably the Luis' suggestion of building our own unit given
that all the info is available is the best way for getting one.

P.D. Tomorrow I'll ask him again about availability.

Hi,

Not really true on the USB to Parallel... sorry Ray... :-(
There is at least one model that works perfectly well (I have two specimens
running, 3 years now and zero issues).

USB2LPT Release 1.7
http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~heha/bastelecke/Rund%20um%20den%20PC/USB2LPT/

If not available, it is all open source you just build one.

Despite the fact that I've posted this help a few times already I have

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 to USB

2014-06-28 Thread Bill Guyger via FlexRadio
The SDR1000 must operate in 32 bit mode. That was the deciding factor for me in
my recent purchase of a 1500. That being said...if your laptop will
support virtualization you can download a XP emulator from Microsoft that will
run in Win 7 Professional but not home version. I had to do that to support
some RF design software that was heavily DOS based, but there seems to be a
fairly high latency when running something in the XP shell due I guess to all
the converting that the machine is having to do.

It was worth the price of the 1500 to not have the whipping of having to
operate with "patch work" software. Besides which the 1500 is much a slicker
radio.

[Flexradio] SDR-1000 setup problems

2013-05-03 Thread Bob Towers

Firstly, many thanks for those of you who responded to my pleas for help.

The general advice was to install PowerSDR 1.x, make sure the SDR-1000
runs with that, then install a version of 2.x. I installed 1.8 and
already had 2.3.5 on my PC (for my Flex1500). As soon as I ran 2.3.5,
the parallel port and cable worked fine, relays latched and so on.

The best explanation is that 1.x versions have one or more drivers in
them than do 2.x versions, though nobody could suggest what!

The main thing is that it now works and I can concentrate on getting it
all calibrated and aligned.

checked all the connections on the 25-pin lead, tried two LPT ports on
separate PCs, etc - but no success at all, there was no connection
between the PC and the SDR-1000. PowerSDR 2.2.6 just would not work:
no relays latching, nothing.

I vaguely remembered seeing a comment about loading up PowerSDR 1.x
and trying that. I downloaded and ran 1.8.0, hit the start button and
away it went. I connected up a cheap USB sound card in RX mode and had
a listen about the bands. It sounded pretty good, even with that cheap
sound card. I then ran 2.2.6 again, hit the start button and away it
went.

OK, it's only receive so far, but I'll get the Firebox connected and
running and then I'll have a go at the TX.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that there's a file or two needed
for the SDR-1000 in 1.8.0 which isn't in the 2.2.6 setup install.

Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated!

You are correct, and actually 1.18.6 also works if installed first.
later versions are missing some secret chunk of code. you should be good

trying that. I downloaded and ran 1.8.0, hit the start button and away
it went. I connected up a cheap USB sound card in RX mode and had a
listen about the bands. It sounded pretty good, even with that cheap
sound card. I then ran 2.2.6 again, hit the start button and away it went.

OK, it's only receive so far, but I'll get the Firebox connected and
running and then I'll have a go at the TX.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that there's a file or two needed for
the SDR-1000 in 1.8.0 which isn't in the 2.2.6 setup install.

Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated!

73 and thanks in advance

The problem is solved, I think. I had to power recycle the

One thing I learned in setting mine up: You _must_ use a 32-bit
operating system to control the transceiver through the parallel
port. 64-bit doesn't work at all, even if you have or add a parallel
port adapter. I've never heard of anyone using an motherboard sound
card with it -- there would certainly be issues with other devices
trying to access the card at the same time.

Best of luck,

[Flexradio] SDR-1000 and PowerSdr v2.5.3 notes

2013-01-03 Thread Paul Shaffer
I just got powersdr v2.5.3 working with sdr-1000 -- I haven't worked with
this in a long time. I have the flex radio usb adapter and a delta-44 card.
This kb article is very helpful:

http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50012.aspx?Keywords=delta-44

OS: window 7 64-bit.
Delta-44 driver: 5.10.0.5074

I already had the sdr1kusb.dll and deltapnl.dll files on hand so I didn't
have to hunt for those.

1. you have fixed the mouse wheel bug, good

2. works with the latest delta-44 driver, doesn't insist on setting the
level api which isn't there anymore, good

3. I used the libusb-win32-bin-1.2.6.0.zip file from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/files/libusb-win32-releases/1.2.6.0/.
They finally have a signed driver for this.

4. The powersdr UI is cutoff around the edges. I use 1920 x 1440 resolution
with large fonts, and this is probably a dialog scaling issue.

When will a WPF version of powersdr be available? I did a prototype of this
a few years ago and it's not that hard to do.

SDR-1000 is not supported on any 64 bit OS. That doesn't mean its not

I would take that as a sign!

This does not happen with my ICOM 746-Pro. Any input on what may be causing

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 makes clicking sound when not powered on butDC available

2011-04-20 Thread Tim Ellison
If PowerSDR is off, the PC and SDR1K powered up and relays are clicking, then
there is a probability that the relay clicks are causes by "phantom" voltages
on the parallel card since all the parallel card is doing is "bit banging" the
SDR1K.

If either the SDR1K and/or the PC are powered off, this should not happen.

If the SDR-1000 is powered off, check to see if voltage is leaking through the
switch. I don't see how the relays could click if there is no power on the
SDR-1000 at all.

Subject: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 bug in v 2.0.22?

I think that I have found a bug in the last official release of PowerSDR
v2.0.22 with a SDR-1000:

- Let's define a XVTR, for example LO offset 116, begin freq. 144 and
end freq. 146.
- Select the VHF band and the XVTR already defined. Enter any frequency
in the band: it works.
- Go back to HF using the HF button: if you enter any frequency either
using the keyboard, the mouse of the band's buttons you get the
exception "index out matrix bounds" or something close (I'm using a
localized version of windows, so the message is in the localized language).
- Also while in VHF, if I enter a HF frequency in the keyboard, it gives
the same exception instead of going directly to the corresponding HF band.

This doesn't happen in previous versions, neither in RC1 or RC2. I
don't know if the problem is SDR-1000 specific.
It happens with a fresh database. The OS is WinXP SP3.

I didn't entered in the bug tracker yet awaiting if it can be reproduced
by other SDR-1000 users.

[Flexradio] SDR 1000 & USB Microphone

2011-02-06 Thread Peter (G1FXE)
I currently use an SDR1000 & Delta 44 combination. My current Microphone is
plugged directly into the Delta 44. I have read various articles
recommending a Pre-Amp for this setup but have never got round to installing
one, I get by OK though.

Having said that, I've had for some time a good quality USB desk Mic and
would like to give this a try with my SDR. I've tried various mixtures of
VAC & Windows mixer settings but can't get the thing to work with PowerSDR.
Searching old posts there is some mention of USB headsets but no specific
detail of the setup.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

BTW OS is Windows XP SP3

Tnx,
Peter

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 X2 External Control connector question

2011-01-12 Thread Ray - K9DUR
Doug,

As you noted, the X2 outputs are open-collector. Logic "High" turns the
transistor on, which will result in a collector-to-ground voltage of a few
tenths of a volt. Logic "Low" turns the transistor off, resulting in the
collector voltage rising to whatever the pull-up voltage is in the device
being driven.

When dealing with open-collector circuits, it may be less confusing to think
in terms of current levels instead of voltage levels -- Low = no current
flow, High = Max current flow.

Please contact me directly to my e-mail for details.

I never really got this radio working for me. Lack of PC computer skills and
lack of time to really get into it. I also upgraded to an SDR 3000 which I
really like. So the SDR 1000 is up for sale.

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 with excessive echo in audio

2010-11-19 Thread Tim Ellison
With the SDR-1000 echo can be caused from poorly seated audio cables, RF
getting into the audio cables, ground loops (and there are lot of them
depending on the sound card being used), leaving the MON on, or a power supply
that is not well regulated (voltage drop on transmit).

Remember, if you created a new DB for the SDR-1000, you must go through a
re-calibration cycle. You can import a previous database, but it is a best
practice to do it every time up create a new DB. This "best practice" is not
necessary with firmware based SDRs like the FLEX-xx00s since the calibration
data is stored in the EEPROM.

Friends,

I have guided to reset database and restart app. He states that he has done
this. Audio is better but not as clear as I have heard him in the past.

Can anyone steer me as to how to get him back to normal? Seems he keeps

I am on Flex 3000 V. 2.0.16 with no issues here.

Any help appreciated.

Re: [Flexradio] SDR 1000 Bob's S meter

2010-11-12 Thread Barry Matson
Brian,

Thanks for your thoughtful response.

I switched back to an older configuration using Power SDR 1.18.6 on a
partition with XP Pro and the same SDR 1000 was operating quite normally
there. Both S meters were giving the same reading and sensitivity was fine.
I could pick up WWV on 10 and 15 MHz fine (WWV is a weak signal in
Australia). Re-booting back to Win 7 and PSDR 2.0.8 and also 2.8.16 gave
the performance I am concerned about again, and WWV was not there. Nothing
else was changed, including lighting. Changing the database does not help.

It is hard to believe that there is not something in the latest betas of
PSDR that is causing this problem.

I think that the different S meter readings may be a clue.

Cheers

Barry

The problem with, "it seems worse," is that you can't really tell. Maybe
your neighbor just put in a new light dimmer. I just found out that the new

all of 40m.

Re: [Flexradio] sdr-1000 stopped tuning

2010-10-10 Thread Alfred Green

UPDATE:

I pulled the rig apart, and it turns out that the reference oscillator,
QG-1, had died. I didn't have a replacement part, but had several 10MHz
tcxo's, so I installed one of them using the external reference info in
the KC. All is working well again.

I'm glad it wasn't the DDS, that would have been a bear to replace.

Re: [Flexradio] sdr-1000 stopped tuning

2010-10-05 Thread Kevin Feeney

I hadn't used the SDR1000 since I got my F1500, but fired it up
today and appear to have the same problem.
Oh good,(well, sorta, for me) I was afraid I was the only one. Kinda
quiet on this topic till you commented.

To me, this sort of feels like a problem with the Local Oscillator,
like I'm not actually injecting the right frequency (or any?) into
the mixers. When there are no signals in the passband, I've taken
another shack receiver and tried to hear the LO, but don't hear
anything near the frequency. I haven't had it come up with signals
since I thought of that, so I haven't been able to check for LO then.

That is what it looks like to me. I set the rx to 14.200, and used
my HP8640 sig gen to provide a -30dBm source, and swept it from 1 to
60MHz. No sign of any signal on the widest setting of the panadaptor
or waterfall. I would think that even if there was a problem on the
RFE board there would be enough bleedthrough to at least see something.
I was working on it again last night and for a while it did come up on
75 meters and I was able to confirm that I can hear the LO 9 khz down
on my TS2000.

I tried it on transmit, and there is no detectable output.

I don't see any output either, but I get a high SWR warning and the
output power shows like 596 watts. But nothing on the wattmeter
connected to the dummy load.
It seems like the DDS has got fried somehow. The way I have the
shack set up the SDR1K is a bit difficult to get to, but I'll clear
a space, open it up and have a dig around. I have the schematics,
but I don't know if any of the test points are accessible.
In poking around with mine last night, I am getting suspicious that
the DDS isn't fried, but being programmed out someplace weird. The
fact that you did a wide band sweep and got no response may be
different than what I'm seeing. At one point last night, I had 75
meters, going, and then changed to 40 meters. I had the *same* signals
and audio in the passband, but the signals were quite attenuated, as
if the band pass filters had switched correctly, but the DDS didn't
move frequency. More experimentation had me on 75 meters, but the
frequency would move a bit and then slide back to the same place, as
if it had stepped a couple of steps, then 'slipped' back. This was
making me suspicious of the data path in from the parallel cable.
Eventually I found that if I pushed or flexed the parallel port
connector, that I could make the frequency change correctly, or not.
So it's looking more like in my case that I have a problem in how the
parallel port data is getting processed and handed off to the DDS.
This may or may not also be affecting the relays.

Tonight I'll take the board stack apart and take a look at the
parallel port connector and the latches associated with the DDS.

The rig is the SDR1000-LP which I have had for a few years now, mostly
driving transverters and as a piece of test equipment. It has worked
flawlessly all this time. Win XP SP3, PSDR 1.8.3, FA-66.
I've reset the database, reloaded PSDR, replaced the parallel cable
all with no change.

So, before I pull everything apart, are there any suggestions for
something I've overlooked?
Maybe it is just jealous about the F1500, although it didn't mind
when I got the F3000!
I've been thinking about an F1500 or F3000 myself, but need to get
this working first. I guess I could suggest that you explore the
connector also for potential problems as I am. Do you know if any of
the SDR-1000 boards are still available? I'm not sure how much SMD
repair I'm up to.

Thanks for the comments Alf. (Wish I were out in Scottsdale!)

[Flexradio] sdr-1000 stopped tuning

2010-10-04 Thread Kevin Feeney

 Hi,

I joined the ranks with an SDR-1000 last winter and was happily
running 1.18.6 for months. Then summer came and I got involved in my
summer activities and didn't run the system for a few months. As I'm
moving back into winter mode, and firing up the shack again, I find my
flex doesn't work any more.

There have been a couple of symptoms, but the one I'm seeing now most
consistently is that the radio powers up, and the relays click when I
move from band to band, but it doesn't seem to hear anything, or be
able to change frequency. By not changing frequency, what I mean is
that the numbers in the display change, and the background markers on
the panadapter slide one way or the other, but the noise and spurs in
the panadapter don't move.

Once in a while, it will come up on 75 meters, and there are signals
in the passband and I can demodulate them properly, but I can't move
the frequency, even though the background and displayed frequency
appear to change. That is, the indicators of frequency are moving, but
the signal in the passband is staying in the same spot. On a couple of
other occasions, the system seemed to come up with a shortwave station
up the passband that i was just able to demodulate by sliding the
filter way off to the up side to try to demodulate. Again, the tuning
appeared to be doing everything I asked, but the signals in the
panadapter didn't move.

To me, this sort of feels like a problem with the Local Oscillator,
like I'm not actually injecting the right frequency (or any?) into the
mixers. When there are no signals in the passband, I've taken another
shack receiver and tried to hear the LO, but don't hear anything near
the frequency. I haven't had it come up with signals since I thought
of that, so I haven't been able to check for LO then.

I'm running 1.18.6 on a dedicated dual CPU PC that is isolated from
the network and hasn't had any upgrades since it was running
successfully last fall. I've tried it with both the parallel port
cable that was running successfully all last fall, and the USB to
parallel adapter. I've reset the database. I've tried version 2.08
just to see if that behaved any better, it behaved pretty much the same.

I don't know at this point if I have a hardware problem, an interface
problem, or something gone wonky in the computer. I'm looking for some
clues to help me troubleshoot.

This unit did have some problems last fall with the latches driving
the relays that were cured when I removed a solder flake that had
gotten between a couple of traces and had been operating very reliably
until I just left it alone for the summer. But the relays seem to be
moving appropriately as I change bands at this time, but of course
with no signals being apparent, I can't really check that - unless I
start measuring at the relays, which might be the next step. But when
the relays weren't moving before, I could still tune the system and
see the noise and spurs move around as I changed frequency, even when
the relays weren't allowing signal through. This looks and feels
different, like the LO is out in the weeds someplace and not
responding to commands. It doesn't make much sense to me that they
command to drive the relays are coming through, but to drive the LO
isn't working - I presume if the parallel port is being driven
correctly for the one, it should be working for the other.

I tried searching the archives, but didn't turn up much. Maybe I'm
searching under the wrong keywords. Is there a name for this problem
that I should search under?

thanks in advance for any pointers.

Kevin, WB2EMS

[Flexradio] SDR 1000 for sale

2010-08-24 Thread HARVEYWIZBANG
I bought this excellent late production unit just a few weeks ago to see if
a no knob radio was for me. Well this SDR 1000 sold me to the extent that
I have a 5000A with the 2nd RX and ATU coming so I'm selling the 1000 to
move up!

This Flex 1000 has the 8 pin connector and comes with the outboard
preferred FA-66 audio card. Included are the parallel and firewire cables as
well
as the cables for audio in and out. This 1000 also has the optional built
in tuner. I have the radio running on a borrowed old Dell laptop with a
1.2 gig processor with less than 700K of memory. I works fine for just the
radio but uses about all the computer has so running a logging program or
anything else won't go. I would put this on a computer with more horse
power if you have one available. (Quad core with lots of memory coming for
the
5000 here but a dual core with 2gig memory running XP would be fine for
the Flex 1000)

If you want to try SDR or just would like an amazing radio with 100watts
and a much more modest investment than either the 3000 or 5000 but
impressive performance (RX specs fall between the 3000 and 5000) this is your
perfect choice.

Fairly priced at $795 shipped to continental US only.

Re: [Flexradio] sdr-1000 problem

2010-07-14 Thread Ray J
First thing, have you tried resetting the database?.. this is
important with the 1000.. there is no information from the radio like
the newer hardware.. everything is stored in the database. one little
hickup and it will show strange affects.

I think the clicking you hear is the automatic antenna tuner.(if there
is one?)

What are the computers..? hopefully a minimum of 2.5 gig Pentium 4. and
win XP.

Are you sure you have the parallel port settings right.. have you
looked through the help sections? that sounds like the problem here..
Has the radio ever worked on either of the computers before??

This was becoming a big problem at the end of the sdr-1000 sales
because of computer hardware changes affecting how parallel ports
works. Too bad i don't think the flex usb cables are available anymore.
there is some rumors that certain usb adapters will work .. but i would
have to see it.. because most will not.

If you set up powersdr in demo mode with the fa-66 or the default card
there should be sound and stuff displayed in the pandadapter..

The problem Iam having with my sdr-1000 ,happens on both of my computers, while each is connected to the sdr-1000. , Iam using the fa-66 box, fire wire and parallel cable. I have reloaded power sdr 1.8.6 on both computers and also reloaded the fa-66 driver,on both. I have switched the parallel cable and the fire wire cable on both computers with new ones I had., with no change in the problem.

1. This is what happens, power up either computer ,no problem...by the way both computers have nothing but sdr software installed, per the manual, they are both dedicated machines to the radio.
2. turn on supply to the sdr-1000,but not turn on the front power switch..yet. I hear a low level clicking from the 1000,like a relay on/off on/off very low lever ,but there.

3. turn the power switch on the 1000 all seems ok, don't know if the clicking
is still going on,too much fan noise.
4. click on powersdr, the first time , booths, and the 1000 goes thru all its self checks and then I tell power sdr about the 1000, tuner, 100 watt pa etc and finally we end up with the power sdr screen on the monitor.
5. I click on the screen power button , seems a bit flaky, but finally turns the power sdr screen on and I get a flat green line across the pan adaptor and NO audio from the speakers.

6. power down the computer and the rig, re boot the computer, turn on the 1000
click the power sdr icon, power sdr boots ,but do not hear relays click as the
boot up continues, screen comes up click on power sdr button , same result ,
green line across pan adaptor ,no sound. again the powersdr screen seems a bit
flaky. I went threw the whole manual can't find any wrong settings in power
sdr, checked the parallel card settings on device manager , show the standard
default.
My first guess is the 1000 has a problem and needs service. second guess would be a problem with the fa-66? don't know how to check that further.
both computers work fine with my 3000, if I set them up to run the 3000.

also I just turned on my power supply to the 1000 ,power switch "off" on the 1000, hear the constant low level clicking.

I was going to set the 1000 up for one of the young guys in our club and get him started on sdr radio,so want to go forward with getting the problem fixed.
any help on this ,would be grateful.

thanks

[Flexradio] sdr-1000 problem

2010-07-14 Thread yash

The problem Iam having with my sdr-1000 ,happens on both of my computers, while
each is connected to the sdr-1000. , Iam using the fa-66 box, fire wire and
parallel cable. I have reloaded power sdr 1.8.6 on both computers and also
reloaded the fa-66 driver,on both. I have switched the parallel cable and the
fire wire cable on both computers with new ones I had., with no change in the
problem.

1. This is what happens, power up either computer ,no problem...by the way both
computers have nothing but sdr software installed, per the manual, they are both
dedicated machines to the radio.
2. turn on supply to the sdr-1000,but not turn on the front power switch..yet.
I hear a low level clicking from the 1000,like a relay on/off on/off very low
lever ,but there.
3. turn the power switch on the 1000 all seems ok, don't know if the clicking
is still going on,too much fan noise.
4. click on powersdr, the first time , booths, and the 1000 goes thru all its
self checks and then I tell power sdr about the 1000, tuner, 100 watt pa etc
and finally we end up with the power sdr screen on the monitor.
5. I click on the screen power button , seems a bit flaky, but finally turns
the power sdr screen on and I get a flat green line across the pan adaptor and
NO audio from the speakers.
6. power down the computer and the rig, re boot the computer, turn on the 1000
click the power sdr icon, power sdr boots ,but do not hear relays click as the
boot up continues, screen comes up click on power sdr button , same result ,
green line across pan adaptor ,no sound. again the powersdr screen seems a bit
flaky. I went threw the whole manual can't find any wrong settings in power
sdr, checked the parallel card settings on device manager , show the standard
default.
My first guess is the 1000 has a problem and needs service. second guess
would be a problem with the fa-66? don't know how to check that further.
both computers work fine with my 3000, if I set them up to run the 3000.

Re: [Flexradio] SDR 1000

2010-07-07 Thread EB4APL

Hi,

If the symptoms are selective, I mean band related, there are only two
places where are band dependent parts:

1. BPF board, where selection is made by relays. The probable cause is
a burned inductor, but not disregard a capacitor or even a relay contact.
2. RFE board, where selection is made by solid state switches. I think
it is a low probability place, because here the filters are after the
preamp IC1, and you should burn the preamp first.

Recheck the frequency limits where you get the low gain, because it
sounds strange to me to burn tho filters at the same time.

The filters are arranged this way:
1.- 2.5 Mhz LPF which is selected by K1 & K2
2.- 2-6 Mhz BPF, selected by K3 & K4
3.- 5-12 Mhz BPF, selectyed by K5 & K6
4.- 10-24 Mhz BPF, selected by K7 & K8
5.- 20-40 Mhz BPF, selected by K9 & K10
6.- 35-60 Mhz BPF, selected by K11 & K12

On my SDR-1000 the filter changes happens at:

1.- 0.0090002.50 Mhz
2.- 2.516.00 Mhz
3.- 6.01 12.00 Mhz
4.- 12.01 24.00 Mhz
5.- 24.01 36.00 Mhz
6.- 36.01 65.00 Mhz

I downloaded the schematics from Flex site when I bought my radio. If
you don't find it I can sent them to you and free the Flex staff to do
more interesting tasks.

Thanks for the info. I probably knew that, but had forgotten. I use my

Half a watt on 6 is usable with a good antenna and a band opening, but I
think the lucky recipient would be quite frustrated for normal use.

I have the SDR1000-LP, so I can't speak to the low power out if you

On receive it performs reasonably well, although is not as sensitive

really could use a preamp. My 6M7JHV at 60ft helps! The spurs are not

Certainly a useable rig, but get it in his hands before the E-season

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 ATU Code Improvement?

2010-04-07 Thread Gerald Youngblood
Bill,

On the FLEX-5000 ATU, every relay for selecting inductors and capacitors can
be individually set from PowerSDR(TM) over RS-232 and thus bypass the OEM
firmware. This allows us to make software instead of firmware improvements
on this model.

There is no hardware capability to individually control the relays in the
SDR-1000 ATU so we do not have the ability to make improvements there. On
the SDR-1000 ATU, there is only a single digital line that says "Tune."

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 questions

2010-01-17 Thread EB4APL

Barry,

The two jumpers select between differential and single ended reference
clock inputs to the DDS. The normal setting with the supplied
oscillator is to install both jumpers in 1-2 position. Otherwise, if
you are using an external reference oscillator, both jumpers should be
changed to 2-3.
The schematics are not clear in this zone, but the hardware manual v3.8
has a table in page 18 which explains this. Also the external reference
kit instructions also gives information about this.
I'm sorry, but my PIO board has not any soldered wire, white or
otherwise. Since I didn't know any ECO asking for this mod, probably it
is a repair. Could you post or send me a picture of the board showing
where the wire is attached?

Gents,

Thanks for your help with my cat situation. I had to step away for a day or two
as the frustration was killing me. I have tried everything and cat still will
not function. I wiped out all of the port setting, and then uninstalled
N8VBcom. I installed VSP manager. It was a breeze to setup. It does not work.
Again, I checked and double-checked every setting. 9A2RV was even kind enough
to send me a screenshot from either end of his setup that functions well. His
settings were a bit different than my old settings, but I decided to try his
configuration- nothing.

I am running XP with service pack 2. I have tried SDR versions 1.18.2 and
1.16.2. I run the latest version of MixW (registered.) The vac is functioning
properly. Serial to USB functions properly.

I use VSP manager now. The interface is easier and the configuration is
faster, but I don't see any real difference in operation between VCom, Com0com,
and VSP manager. However, thanks to VSP Manager's GUI, I was able to find why
a pair of virtual COM ports stopped working. At some point I installed
Blackbery Desktop Manager for my Blackberry. It silently "stole" COM ports 5
and 6 for itself. These virtual pairs had to be moved because of this.

This is why you should start using VSP Manager. You can't inadvertently use a

RJ,
This might be obvious, but does your new computer have physical COM ports that
use the same COM ports that you defined in N8VBvCom? I find myself falling
into these "obvious" traps way too often.

Friends,

Recently I was forced to move my Flex SDR-1000 to another PC. The radio is
working perfectly, except for cat control, or lack of. VAC is functional, but
for the life of me cannot get the cat to work. I have been through the drill
numerous times. I am using the N8VBvCom driver.
It appears to be installed properly. I have followed the checklist to the
letter. Have even tried using other com port pairs. I even duplicated every
setting from old PC to new, nothing has worked. Again, Flex and MixW are
configured according to the directions.. and I have played with numerous
alternatives. I know that this is a matter of one simple setting, but I'm
pulling my hair our.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 cat control to MixW

2009-12-11 Thread RJ Harris - W3HP
Gents,

Thanks for your help with my cat situation. I had to step away for a day or
two as the frustration was killing me. I have tried everything and cat still
will not function. I wiped out all of the port setting, and then uninstalled
N8VBcom. I installed VSP manager. It was a breeze to setup. It does not
work. Again, I checked and double-checked every setting. 9A2RV was even kind
enough to send me a screenshot from either end of his setup that functions
well. His settings were a bit different than my old settings, but I decided
to try his configuration- nothing.

I am running XP with service pack 2. I have tried SDR versions 1.18.2 and
1.16.2. I run the latest version of MixW (registered.) The vac is
functioning properly. Serial to USB functions properly.

What the heck

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 and 60 meter band

2009-12-11 Thread K9DUR
It is valid only for PowerSDR v1.18.0 or earlier. Later versions of
PowerSDR use an XML file instead of a Microsoft Access database to hold the
setup information.

It does not matter what type of radio you have, only what version of
PowerSDR you are running.

The database is only related to PowerSDR and not the radio hardware in this
case. If the version of PowerSDR is greater than 1.18.1, then there is no more
access database. It was replaced by an XML file.

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 and 60 meter band

2009-12-11 Thread Tim Ellison
The BandText table in the DB no longer controls the transmit bandwidth
parameters as it did in very early versions of PowerSDR. I would agree since
the radios do support the US allocation on 60m that the filters wouldn't be a
problem.

Actually on an SDR 1000 there's no firmware and the PowerSDR code completely
controls where it will transmit. I believe one can modify the band text table
in the DB to add a new band.

I'd think the band pass filters would be ok .. Flex supports 60M in the US,
that would seem to imply the bandpass filters are good enough I'd think.
