I'm wondering if any of you out there have any experience dealing with how the
US federal government names approved software that may be installed on their
servers. I'm working a Navy contract and I'm learning the ropes regarding
DADMS, their naming approach, id's and all that stuff.

Has anyone run into issues where search menus and other drop downs just
hang because of inefficient SQL queries? A lot of the menus (the Product
File Lookup form search menu for File ID for example), does a LIKE query
against a huge number of records. The thing is, this is OOB with the DSL
in LANDesk to the Product Name field on
PCT:Product Model/Version. The reason for this as opposed to PCT:Product
Catalog is because the names are most similar there.
However there is an issue. For example, the LANDesk field is Microsoft Office
Project Professional 2007, while the BMC DSL version
I don't think you would be violating some unwritten rule by ditching BMC's DSL
data. At my last position, we didn't use any of it either. We created
products on an as needed basis.
That said, you can add aliases for products. So, you would decide what the
standard name of the product
and manufacturers. You might therefore be maintaining
aliases in two places.

It is not so easy to use the custom DSL import forms. If all you need is
