When doing a 'sudo fink selfupdate' i run i a problem because alpha.gnu.org
is not reachable an therefore no CVS access to tar Version 1.13.25-1.
And it seems to me that there isn't a mirror for downloading it.
Any suggestions?
BTW: Why is it necessary to have tar, man, etc. as essentia

problem--I get those when I start KDE, too, but it runs OK.
Check and see if you do in fact have /usr/X11R6/bin/iceauth on your

I'm new to the list. I've tried searching the archives for an answer
to my problem, found a few hits, but nothing seems to solve the
problem.
I've been trying to get a successfull re-install of Fink going
after getting a new machine. My previous install worked beautifully.
Now, af
I have been able to install g77 successfully on 10.2. However, both f2c
and atlas fail to install. I suspect this has something to do with g77,
since it seems to depend on an old version of gcc. Has anybody had
success with any of these packages?

This depends on what you want to do. If you want to use rootless X for
the most part, then you want a window manager that is good for rootless
mode (which the default one, twm, is not). I like OroborOSX
(http://oroborosx.sourceforge.net) for rootless mode, myself, but I've
also tried rootless KD

I'm desperately trying to install emacs and gnupg on Jaguar. They
worked like a charm on 10.1.5 of course.
I've self-updated via cvs but to no avail. Both compilations fail with
syntax errors.
They are both essential tools for me. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

and modified the configuration file as suggested in the xdvi notes.
