Jeeze! 28-300 is more than a 10 to 1 ratio! I'm thinking to myself (with my aging gray cells) that it wasn't long ago that I eschewed zooms with more than a 3 to 1 ratio because of the (then obvious) drop in image quality. Is it really that much better now? Regards, Bob...

Yes,I recently bought a transparent FA 28-80 in non-working condition. It cost me more in postage (admittedly airmail to Australia) than my winning bid. However to be fair the title didn't say anything about it being rare or transparent, so lots of people may not have known it was there.

Because Actually, my curiosity was piqued by a comment made during a discussion of BW imaging made on the Photoshop list. The commentator suggested that those who have never made their own BW prints might be at a disadvantage when it comes to creating BW images in the digital workflow.
