I truly believe that TM was caused by stress in my life. I believe I had nothing more serious than a summer cold, but due to the stress in my life which was extremely high at that time my immune system was weakened allowing the onset of TM. This is not very scientific, but I believe this was

For a doctor, since there is no directory of doctors knowledgeable in TM, doctors affiliated with the National MS Society are suppose to be familiar with TM. They have a directory on their site.

I'm not sure if the 'splotches' I have are like yours but mine happened to start on my one foot. They were a reddish brown color and everywhere they were, my skin would just begin to peel off. Of course, I couldn't feel anything and I was given an RX for some cortisone cream which did help.
