They are in ALAC format. Editing FLAC metadata is a nightmare on a Mac,
which is why I went that route. This Touch thing - as cool as it is -
doesn't seem to be working out too well for me here

tracks with gaps. Some dacs treat this as no signal - although they

My HD is formatted in FAT32. I spent an entire day moving files around
Bad review. No comments on audio and they didn't even get the point abou

Just got the touch today and I'm having problems with the USB Drive.
I have a 320g drive with 150g of FLAC files
The drive is recognized by the Touch, Squeezebox Server is started and
I get the message:
Discovering Files: Complete
...but the touch does not list any of my music.

This is a key issue many reviewers
It's probably still scanning. When complete the scanner results will
show three complete messages.
You should be able to play songs from your Music Folder menu while it
is scanning.

That's what I thought, but its not. The problem was that I was using a
Mac HFS+
You don't need to run the hinky server to use Touch as a controller for
other squeezeboxes it has a Choose Player menu just like the
controller.
But then of course you have the regular sbs running somewhere.

these point. I think you have restated many of the issues well.
In a nutshell using an external server works best. Obviously, this is
not how the Touch was designed to be positioned, but for 24/96
An external *wired* server..

The Touch does not download files. You can play them from a local drive
or SD card or you can use the Touch with a remotely installed SBS to
