Re: [Blind-Computing] Problem in gold wave

2013-05-22 Thread Bob W
I am using goldwave version 5.58 and jaws 13.0 on an xp computer, so our
versions are quite different.

I tried going to 5.68 and got the same results you reported.

When I went back to 5.58 things worked fine.

Hope this helps.

Which version of jaws and goldwave? and which operating system?

Since freedom stopped supporting goldwave it's hard to match the right

Re: [Blind-Computing] How to find internet explorer information bar

2013-05-15 Thread Bob W
Hi Marilyn,
I would have sworn there's a keystroke to get to the information bar, but I
looked through the jaws help but came up with nothing.

You may have to turn your jaws cursor on with the minus key. Then do a ctrl
home to get to the top of the page and start arrowing down passed the page
title, menus, until you hear something about information bar, or activex.
Press your right mouse key (slash key on your calculator keyboard). This
should give you some options to deal with the activex problem.

If you don't find the information bar/activex stuff I talked about earlier,
press your pc cursor key, then turn your virtual cursor mode off with
insert+z and then try the steps in the above paragraph again.

Before resuming, don't forget to turn virtual cursor mode back on with
insert+z.

Hope this helps..

2013-02-28 Thread Bob W
Hi David.

I tried your suggestion of putting the ` key in with replacement text of a
space character in the dictionary manager.

You are right that when the ` key is encountered within some kind of text
nothing is spoken, but, when you press the ` key jaws says "space".

Therefore, this solution won't work for Carlos.

You could try using the dictionary manager in effect telling jaws to not say
anything when that particular key is pressed.

Re: [Blind-Computing] stopping the grawv key from saying grawv.

2013-02-28 Thread Bob W
Hi Carlos.

When I first saw your message I thought "well, that should be simple." But,
it isn't simple.
Maybe I'm just making it too complex.

While playing around I discovered that a key that is passedThrough (insert
f3) is not spoken, but you get this long, message before pressing the key.

So, you could press insert f3, listen to the message, then press the ` key,
and hear the time.
Not satisfactory? I don't blame you.

So if I were doing this I would:
Write a one line script that said

script PassKeyThroughQuietly()

PassKeyThrough()

EndScript
Put this script at the bottom of my default script.
Then I would tie the PassKeyThroughQuietly to the ` key in the keyboard
manager.

But maybe someone else will have a better way to do this. I don't!

[Blind-Computing] winamp's equalizer was: Re: Winamp Won't Play Next File in a Selected List

2013-02-17 Thread Bob W
Hi Steve.

Here's how to do some things with the equalizer.

All these should be done within winamp. I'm using winamp 5.61, if you are
using something else then maybe they'll work.

Press alt+g. If it says equalizer closed then press it again to open it.

Press ctrl+tab until you hear "winamp equalizer".

The letter n (as in nebulous) will toggle the equalizer to "enable" and
"disable".

The numbers 1 thru 0 on the top row of your keyboard will increase the
volume on each band of the equalizer. The letters q thru p on the top letter
row on the keyboard will decrease the ten bands corresponding to the number
above it. (If that doesn't make sense, ask and I can try to explain it
better.

The ` (grave accent) will increase the volume of the preamp, and the tab key
will decrease it.

Hope this helps..

Install a little utility called Hot Key Detective, which will list all the
hot keys on your computer. You can find it on the JAWS Users programs page.
If you have a hot key for Notepad, it should be listed. You can then focus
on it an tab to the change key button which will allow you to delete or
modify it.

There use to be a free program called Hotkey Detective which would show

I now use AutoHotKey to assign keys, which works differently, and would

It's fairly easy.

Bring up jaws by pressing insert+j.
Bring up the utilities menu by pressing alt+u.
Up arrow to video intercept manager and press enter.

You'll find three radio buttons: install video intercept; uninstall video

Tab past the help button and you'll find a read-only field giving your video

Re: [Blind-Computing] Enter key v shift enter key?

2013-01-12 Thread Bob W
Control-enter will also open another window but, I believe it doesn't invoke
another instance of i-e.

For example, most mornings I like to look at the New York Times. When I see
an article I would like to look at I press control-enter. I could just as
easily press shift-enter. Either way, the article appears in another window.
When I'm finished with the article all I have to do is close that window
and, voilah, I'm back in the original window where I keep perusing for
another article.

Hope this helps.

Intercept often involves uninstalling and reinstalling software applications
and/or device drivers. We recommend only experienced computer users attempt
to resolve Video Intercept problems without assistance from Freedom
Scientific Technical Support.

Common causes of Video Intercept failures are listed below.

Incompatible Software
If incompatible software is installed on your system before you install
JAWS, the Video Intercept will fail to install. JAWS attempts to identify
the software causing this problem. If the software is identified, you can
attempt to uninstall the software, and install JAWS Video Intercept. Once
JAWS is functioning correctly, you should be able to reinstall the software
without causing any conflicts.

Other Assistive Technology Software
In some cases, if other assistive technology software is installed on your
system before you install JAWS, the Video Intercept will fail to install.
JAWS attempts to identify the software causing this problem. If the software
is identified, you can attempt to uninstall the software, and install JAWS
Video Intercept. Once JAWS is functioning correctly, you should be able to
reinstall the software without causing any conflicts.

Incorrect Display Drivers
If incorrect display drivers are installed on your system, JAWS Video
Intercept will fail to install. You may need to contact the manufacturer of
your display adapter hardware for assistance installing the correct display
drivers. After the correct display drivers are installed, JAWS Video
Intercept should install without problems."

Video intercept can be found under the utilities menu in jaws. Should be

2013-01-11 Thread Bob W
This sounds like it might be a video problem, in which case re-installation
probably won't help.

If you can get someone to look at your screen and see if something is
wonky--font or text size for examples. Maybe check your video intercept to
see if it is working properly.

If all of this is okay, then you might try a re-install or repair.

Thanks.

FYI, if you have a solid state hard drive it is recommended not to run
defrag. First of all it isn't necessary on a SSD and secondly, it prolongs
the life of the hard drive if you don't run defrag.

Hi Shreyas,

Here is another explanation of defragmenting by the list owner, David
Ferrin.

From:
David Ferrin

Daily Tip:
Disk Cleanup
Defragmenting your computer periodically can greatly enhance the computer's
performance. While helpful, all defragmenting does is tidy up what is on
your computer; to get rid of unnecessary files such as temporary Internet
files and whatever is in your Recycling Bin, run Disk Cleanup as well. Think
of it this way: Defragmenting sweeps the floor and Disk Cleanup takes out
the trash. Click Start, Control Panel, Performance And Maintenance (in
Category view), and Free Up Space On Your Hard Disk. The Disk Cleanup will
run automatically. Once the analysis is complete, simply follow the prompts.
David Ferrin

Take care.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Problem with IE 7 Favorites

2012-12-28 Thread Bob W
Your problem might be that the favorite is being stored under another user:
for example, "all users" instead of whatever you log on as. I've seen this
happen, but it's been a long time ago.

Why not search your c drive for something that might show up in your
favorites. If the site shows up, see where it is located.

Hope this makes sense.

I was playing some newly-acquired CDs on my computer, last night.

The songs were played in more of a random order, rather than the order

I'd like to hear these songs in their original order.

Can someone please give step by step instructions? And please keep it

I didn't know this about the attachment thing if the setting is changed to

Hello Mike.

In the goldwave program (under all programs) there is an entry for "goldwave
setup" which will let you re-enter the settings for goldwave.

Hope this helps a bit.

I'm afraid that once those presets have been removed, they cannot be
recovered. At least, that has been my experience.

There is a new version of GoldWave out now, Mike.

The easiest way to do this would be to go and download the new version.

By the way, I'd like to take a look at those scripts.

Hello List!

I am interested in learning JAWS Scripting. Can someone tell me where I can
get a full manual of the JAWS Scripting Language. I iknow FS previously had
one, but I cannot find it now. I am looking for a full textbook-like manual
or book describing a step-by-step approach to writing JAWS scripts. Also,
it would be good to know if there is a Blog, MP3, or any other type of JAWS
scripting tutorial available of a low cost nature. I cannot afford any high
cost seminar or class at this time; however, I would like to know whether or
not such a program exist that I may be able to afford in the future. In the
meantime, I want to get started with learning JAWS scripting so I would
apprecriate any reading material at this time.

Thanks for your help in advance.

If that doesn't work press insert+q to find what program jaws thinks is

Good Evening,

When I try to go to

www.lowes.com

running both JAWS 12 and 13 with IE 8 on my Windows 7 machine, the site
loads in PC cursor mode instead of virtual cursor mode. The usual
tricks of F5 and Insert-Tab to refresh the screen aren't working and
left clicking on items isn't working. Rebooting doesn't help. There's
something about internet protected mode and maybe off and 125%.

The site loads normally with Window-Eyes 7.5.3 and some of the links
work. I was running it when the problem started trying to submit a
query to customer service since the specifications link for an appliance
I'm interested in wouldn't work. I didn't see anything indicating my
submission had gone through and the fields still had the data in them.
I unloaded WE and loaded JAWS 13 and couldn't get the query to go
through or at least the information remained in the fields. I finally
noticed it said PC cursor.

Links on Google are working with JAWS and it just seems to be the Lowes
site that JAWS is having a problem with at the moment.

The site is not loading properly with Firefox (probably 12.0.1) and JAWS
13.JAWS

I might have accidentally had caps lock turned on when the problem started.

Any helping in getting the site to load properly with JAWS would be
greatly appreciated.

This sounds like a blooper from the back bage of Consumer Reports.
Checking
my System Tray this morning , I noticed that my icon for MSE 4.0 stated
"PC
status : potentially unprotected". So I opened MSE and examined the Home
tab using the JAWS cursor, and here's what it looked like:

  graphic 399 Microsoft Security Essentials
You haven't run a scan on your PC for a while. This could put your PC at
  risk. Scan options:
  Quick
  Full
  Custom
  Real-time protection: On
Virus and spyware definitions: Up to date Scan now
  Scan details
Scheduled scan: Daily around 11:00 AM (Quick scan) Change my scan schedule
Last scan: 5/26/2012 at 10:41 AM (Quick scan)

As you can see, the page clearly states that MSE performed a quick scan
yesterday, 5/26, at 10:41AM, yet the message at the top of the page states
that myPC might be at risk because I haven't run a scan for a while. What
the heck is going on? Is this a bug in MSE, or MS's idea of a practical
joke? This has been happening about twice a week, so I just ignore the
System Tray warning. Has anyone else experience this behavior with MSE
4.0?

Hello there; you may find the following helpful.

Windows Zip File Utility

One feature that is built into Windows XP and above, which is not built into
past versions of windows, is the Windows Zip File Utility. This utility can
be used to decompress
(unzip) .zip files. What is a .zip file? A .zip file is like a suitcase that
contains one or more files. The file or files are compressed so that the
total size is smaller than they would be normally.

With the Windows Zip File Utility you can do two main things:
1. Extract Files; Windows will take the files contained within a .zip file
and put them in any folder located on your hard drive.
2. Compress files; Windows will take a file or group of files that you
select, and compress them into a single file.

How to for Windows Zip File Utility

With the Windows Zip File Utility you can do the following:
Extract some of the files within a .zip file,
Extract all files within a .zip file,
 Create a .zip file

Extract some files from a .zip file.

To extract some of the files but not all of them, do the following:
1. Find the .zip file on your computer.
2. Once you are on the .zip file, either press the enter-key, or you can
press the applications-key, arrow down to explore and press enter.
3. This will bring up a separate window with the files listed that are
contained within the .zip file.
4. Select just the files that you are wanting to extract. To do this, first
place yourself on the first file in the list that you want to extract. Then
while holding down the control key, arrow down through the files and press
the spacebar on the files you want to select.
5. Press alt+E for the edit menu, arrow down to copy to folder, and press
enter.
6. This will bring up a copy to folder dialog box. You will be put on a copy
button.
7. Tab two times and you should hear, Select the place where you want to
copy these items.
8. You are in a tree view of your computer, arrow down one time and you
should hear, My computer open.
9. Now you can arrow up or down and select the folder that you want these
files to be extracted to. If you arrow up one time from my computer, you
will be on My Documents. If you arrow down from my computer two times, then
you will be on your local C Drive. Remember, if it says closed, just right
arrow to open that folder.
10. If you would like to make a new folder to extract these files in so they
will be easy to find, then just place yourself on the folder where you want
to put your new folder. For example, let's say you want to make a new folder
that will be in My Documents. From My Computer, arrow up one time to My
Documents.
Tab one time to the make a folder button and hit the space bar. This will
automatically make a new folder and put you on that folder within MY
Documents.
Just type in what you want to call this folder and hit enter.
11. Now that you are on the folder that you want your files to be extracted
to, just tab to the copy button and press the spacebar.
12. You're done! The files have been extracted to the place you wanted.

Extract all files within a .zip file

To extract all of the files within a .zip file to a specified folder, do the
following:
1. Find the .zip file on your computer.
2. Once you are on the .zip file, press the applications key for the context
menu.
3. Arrow down to, extract all ... , and hit enter.
4. This will bring up the extraction wizard that will help you extract the
files. On the first screen, just hit the spacebar on the next button.
5. You will be placed in an edit box where you can manually enter the
directory where you want the files extracted. The default directory already
entered for you is a folder by the name of the .zip file, which will be
created within the same directory where the actual .zip file is located. For
example, let's say that your .zip file is called test.zip and it is located
in My Documents. The default directory will be in a folder called test,
which will be located in My Documents. If you want to choose your own
directory, then tab one time to the browse button and press the spacebar.
6. After you know where the files will be extracted, tab to the next button
and press the spacebar.
7. The extraction process will start. Once done, just tab to the finish
button and press the spacebar.
8. Your files have been successfully extracted to the directory you wanted!

Create a .zip file

If you are wanting to take a file or files and put them into a .zip file,
then do the following:
1. Locate and select all of the files you are wanting to put into the .zip
file.
2. Press the applicati

Hi Gerry.

Since you sent your message, you obviously don't have to start from the very
beginning.

So, figure out what you do know, and what you want to know. Then ask
questions and I think you'll be surprised how helpful this group will be.

The more explicit you can be, the better answers you'll get.

What happens when you try to open the attachment?

What is your email program?

When you say "music" attachment do you mean a mp3 file for listening, or
something else for sheet music?

The more information you can give in the original email, the more help

Somehow, I must have missed something. Recently, when I tried to use my
Desktop shortcut to reach Microsoft Security Essentials, I got a message
indicating that the link was no longer valid because the program had been
deleted or moved. I checked on my main C drive and there was no folder for
that program, even in the 86 folder.

Yet, something is still scanning my system regularly and there are links
indicating changing the scan schedule, full or quick scan and so on.

The only thing I can think of is that Microsoft replaced Security Essentials
with something else. It seems to be working but that does concern me a bit.

My research indicates that it has been replaced by something called Windows
Defender. Is this right?

Does anyone know anything about this program? I thought that it was just a
basic anti-virus program at one time but there seems to be anti-malware
elements and the virus definitions are being updated.

Any help would be most welcome.

Hi
I just figured out this yesterday. For some reason my computer seemed
to be reacting slower and slower over the last few months. Well, I started
checking the settings in JAWS 13. After turning the key interrupt feature
off the computer is back working as fast as it ever has. Smile. I suspect
others may have found out about this trick before me. However, I wanted to
put it out there for whoever it might help.

God bless,

2.  Select New -> Shortcut

3. In the "Type the location of the item" field enter the following
Rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Sleep

 4. Click/enter Next

This will create a shortcut with the name rundll32

Re: [Blind-Computing] no sound at startup on windows xp

2011-12-01 Thread Bob W
Hi Mitch. I hope you can read this message.

Hopefully your volume has gotten turned down or muted. Otherwise, the update
may have done something to your sound card.

To see if your volume has gotten turned down do the following (you'll have
to do this without speech, so be extra careful).
1. Press windowsKey+r to invoke the run dialog.
2. Type sndvol32 which brings up the volume control.
3. Hit tab once to get passed the balance control.
4. Hit your home key and see if that gives you sound.
5. If it doesn't, hit the end key to see if that does. For some reason I've
had both keys work on different computers.
6. Hit alt+f4 to close out the volume control.

If you can get sighted assistance, run steps 1 and 2 above and see if they
can see anything wrong (check the wave volume as that may also be turned
down).

Hope this helps.

Any ideas how I can bring it up? Once I find it I'm going to change her

Any help appreciated.

Re: [Blind-Computing] oe moving messages to folder query

Hi Julie. It's real easy to get those folders in oe mixed up.

You said: "Always before I could type control+shift+v and type the first
letter of the folder and then either type enter or tab to okay and press
space bar to move the message to the particular folder."

After you type control+shift+v and before you hit the first letter of the
folder, you have to do a right arrow to open the "local folders" folder. At
least, I have to do that on my computer.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Blind-Computing] About Temp folder

I always use a program like CCleaner to clean out the temp files. I figure,
let the folks who know what they are doing do it right.

I would never delete the temporary folder since some program may come in

Re: [Blind-Computing] looking for autohotkey or autoit3 users

2011-11-16 Thread Bob W
Hi Mike.
There are so many functions that I can't even begin to describe them: heck,
I can't even begin to use most of them yet.

They include gui functions to create, display or update windows on the
screen. They have a multitude of math and string functions.

I'll post something from the autoit3 website. Hoping this will answer your
question.

AutoIt v3 is a freeware BASIC-like scripting language designed for
automating the Windows GUI and general scripting. It uses a combination of
simulated
keystrokes, mouse movement and window/control manipulation in order to
automate tasks in a way not possible or reliable with other languages.
AutoIt is
also very small, self-contained and will run on all versions of Windows
out-of-the-box.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with shortkeys lite, but, based on the example you

Windows7

Hi All,

Has anyone found a replacement for ShortKeys Lite that is accessible with
JAWS 12 and 13 and that will work on 64 bit Windows 7? I have a note that
the free utility many of us enjoyed on XP was put out by Insight Software.
It looks like the company has ShortKeys 3 that isn’t free that will run on
Windows 7. I liked the Lite version so much that I purchased ShortKeys 2,
or whatever the paid version was at the time, but found it didn’t play
nicely with whatever version of JAWS I was using back then, so am a bit
reluctant to spend time trying out the latest incarnation of the paid
version.

ShortKeys Lite is a key extender where, for example, one can type ^st and
one’s full street address will appear instead of having to manually type
the whole thing. There are a bunch of other uses and I miss not having it
on the Win 7 machine, but, as far as I can make out, it isn’t compatible
with Win 7.

I’d cheerfully pay for something similar that is accessible on the new
computer.

Thank you,

Margaret

Hi,

I have a long email to write and I hope someone can help. If it helps, get
your beer, smoke or tea and activate the say all command and sit back and
chill while I type this lol.

First off, I have an hp machine running windows seven pro 64 bit, which was
a Christmas gift fror me last year.

A few weekes ago, I was going to do some work on my laptop from scratch,
which involved me setting it back to factory defaults.

While it was going through the motions of setting it back to factory
defaults, a message came up and said it was unable to boot.

I turned it off completely and when I turned it back on, it said boot
manager device missing/opporating system missing. I was like huh? Thinking
to myself, don't tell me that is what I think it means. I called hp,
explained to them what I wrote above, they told me that I needed a windows 7
pro recovery cd, so I paid for it, they sent the cd, I ran it, supposedly it
would've worked right? Well it didn't.

My jaws, window eyes, NVDA, dam near every sound coming out of my comp was
very choppy and could barely be understood. I tried navigating the best I
could, opening up programs here and there to see what else was up with the
comp after the install and by golly everything was taking 44 for evers to
load.

I ran the recovery cd again and after that everything was back to normal,
screen readers working fine, nothing was taking 44 for evers to load but.,
in the CTRL panel, it told me I had three days to enter in a product key,
which after running the recovery cd, wouldn't the key had been installed?

I waited three days, to see what would happen, so after three days, it said
I have 30 days to activate windows. Huh?

So, I called hp, gave them the shpeel, they did some trouble shooting stuff
with me and in the end, they said, since your laptop is out of worentee
status, we cannot service your laptop without a fee of anywhere to 200-300
dollars.

I told them, all I need is a key to activate windows, but sir, we do not
have any of that information on file, but you can find that information on
the bottom of your laptop, which I told them, no, the characters you are
asking me to read off to you are warn out and not one person can make out
what it is.

Hp also instructed to me to call Microsoft and ask for a key seeing as
windows seven is their product and they should be able to give you the key.
Of course, I already knew what the answer was going to be before calling
Microsoft, but what the hell, I called anyways. Low and behold, they told me
what I thought.

Sir, hp is responcible for providing you with a replacement key seeing as
windows 7 pro came preinstalled on the laptop when it was purchased.

I called hp back, told them the situation and did some more standard trouble
shooting stuff and in the end, she stated, we cannot give you a key and you
will need to purchase windows 7 pro again, which we have a promotion for
right now!

So, seeing as I have no money to purchase win pro or to send it to hp for
repair, what is a good way to get my windows 7 pro key? I ran bilark adviser
and the majic jelly bean finder and they produced the same key, I entered it
in and it gave me an error, p

I ran bilark adviser
and the majic jelly bean finder and they produced the same key, I entered it
in and it gave me an error, pretty much invalid key.

When I went into the bios to verify the s/n for my comp, it said, serial
number: UID: and a bunch of zeros, so what is up with that? What does all
the zeros mean and why after running the recovery cd, twice, the key did not
get installed? Hp said, there could be something wrong with my mother board.

If someone can help me figure out how to obtain my windows 7 pro key that
would be great, besides paying for one because lol, I am broke.

Thanks for listening.

Re: [Blind-Computing] windows 7 product key

2011-11-11 Thread Bob W
Firstly, you write what I consider to be a good email: it is funny (in a sad
sort of way) it gives all the necessary facts.

However, I really don't have a solution for you. It sounds like the restore
disk was faulty, but that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm pretty sure the window key is stored somewhere in the registry, but a)
it's probably useless by this point, and b) I don't remember where the key
is stored. Perhaps google could help.

Best wishes and heart felt sympathies,

Re: [Blind-Computing] JAWS cursor question

2011-11-10 Thread Bob W
That's actually a good question.
I'll try to respond.

When you press either the keypad plus key (pc cursor) or the keypad minus
key (jaws cursor key) the system simply activates either the jaws or pc
cursor. In other words, nothing moves.

When you press the jaws key plus the minus it activates the jaws cursor and
moves it to the pc cursor. So, the jaws cursor moves to the pc cursor.

Hope this helps.

To any and All:

I have a question regarding the JAWS cursor functions. On several of the
instructions that have been given over time, there has been mentioning of
routing the JAWS cursor to PC cursor. My question is this: What is the
difference, function-wise, between pressing the JAWS Key plus the Minus key
on the numpad and simply pressing the minus key? Hope my phrasing makes
sense to someone.

Many thanks.

Yeah, I really think you are going to have to abandon ie6 at some point.

If FireFox or google chrome wont work either, you may want to try WebbIe, a
very basic but rather rugged web browser. It can be downloaded from

If you cannot upgrade to a newer version of IE and the webpages you
need to access do not work with ie, open them in firefox instead. If
you are running win 2k still, at least firefox 3.6 and 4.0 will work
on win 2k. Not sure about later versions of firefox.

You could probably save the file as a .txt file in word.

Word will warn you that you may lose some formatting, and that's what you

Hi list.
I have copied some text from a word document I downloaded from the net.
However, the copied text, still has the headings imbedded from the original
document. I know this, because Jaws says "heading" before the relevant text.
Deleting the heading doesn't seem to be working. Is there anything else i
can do to remove this and any other imbedded formatting like tables etc?
I am using word 2003, XP home and Jaws 12.

Thanks Jason

Just so you know, I tried to download the two programs you cited, but

I can suggest 2 programs. Not sure if they are better than this giveaway,
but they are accessible with jaws and best of all - they are free.
First one is called three compare.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5176021/treecompare%28compare%20folders%29.zip

The second is called directory compare.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5176021/DirectoryCompare337.rar

I haven't used them much, but they did what I needed.
Sorry that I don't give links from their official sites, but have no time at
the moment. I'm sure that everyone can search google if he wants.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating a stereo file fromamonofileusinggoldwave

2011-09-28 Thread Bob W
Granted you probably won't have a "live" sounding stereo file, but once you
have your file in a two-channel mode, you can do things like add stereo
echos, or short stereo echos, or use the equalizer to put the base on the
left side and the trebble on the right side. And, who knows, once you've
finished fooling with the file it might sound better than live.

2011-09-28 Thread Bob W
What do you mean "not possible"?

Sure it's possible.

First you open the mono file and copy its contents to the clipboard.
Then you create a new file with two channels.
Then you copy the contents of the clipboard into your new file, and, voila!
there's your stereo file.

You can do that, create a desktop icon, or even set it up under the
scheduled tasks link in your control panel. That last is probably the most
tricky but it is possible.

I might consider doing a demonstration recording some fine day if there is
enough of a need for it.

Which version of winamp?

According to jaws help, they've only made sure it works for some/certain
versions, like winamp 5.3.

Stay well

[Blind-Computing] jaws13, winamp and a bug

2011-09-21 Thread Bob W
Using jaws13 and winamp 5.8, I think, I have found that the following keys
don't work.

To set the volume to 0%, press ALT+CTRL+M,
To set the volume to 33%, press ALT+CTRL+COMMA,
To set the volume to 66%, press ALT+CTRL+PERIOD,
To set the volume to 100%, press ALT+CTRL+SLASH,
To pan 100% left, press ALT+CTRL+H,
To pan 50% left, press ALT+CTRL+J,
To center sound, press ALT+CTRL+K,
To pan 50% right, press ALT+CTRL+L,
To pan 100% right, press ALT+CTRL+SEMI COLON.

Can anyone verify this?

Where do I send a bug report?

Thanks.

I came across this from another list, don't remember if it has been posted
here before.
At any rate, it works extremely well with Jaws 6.2 and IE 8 on my Xp
machine.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Witch is easier to use?

2011-09-19 Thread Bob W
In my opinion winamp is better for listening to audio while windows media is
easier to use while burning or ripping audio.

A good site for describing windows media player and jaws can be found at
http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Windows-Media-Player-11-Guide.html

Hope this helps.

Hello Listers,
I am interested in knowing witch of the following 2 programs is easier to
use in the burnning and ripping of cd's. Windows media player, or winamp.
I use XP pro and jaws 12.
Thanks
