Michael, using LMS 7.8.0 - 1379434453 @ Wed Sep 18, Local Artwork now displays in the web UI. Well done and thank you. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Music Artist Information plugin
Version: 7.8.0 - 1379350096 @ Tue Sep 17 - Win 7 GUI - Local Artwork lists the jpg's the same size as the album covers in the browse by albums. After clicking on an album it is displayed at default thumbnail size, again just like the browse by album function. However, unlike the browse by album, clicking on the image does not display it full size. Suggestion - display image full size when selected from the list. Orange Squeeze - Local Artwork lists the jpg's but after selection (tap) only a stylized CD icon is displayed. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. I would suggest a simple Local Artwork (to distinguish it from Artist Information which goes to the web), when clicked it would list all .JPG files in the directory with the currently playing track and after an image has been selected show a simple next image and eXit buttons, allowing the user to loop through the images by clicking until the eXit is clicked. extGUI4LMS, after right clicking on the track artwork, returns Images and a list of image names allowing you to click to display the image. Then after displaying the selected image there are left arrow, right arrow and x to allow moving through the images. The issue that not perfectly square covers are cached as pngs, even if the source is jpg (only for _m and _p image specs, see below), is unrelated to this. Additionally, extGUI ships with it's own modified version of this framework, so it won't be by this change (something similar was already applied in my dev version when I reported the issue, but there has been no new release since then) As Michael already mentioned, thumbnail specs include aspect ratio. The LMS web UI uses 200x200_o (o=original=only width adjusted) if you set the size in the preferences to 200px, my plugin registers 200x200_m (m=resize using height and width), so you end up with two 200px images cached, doubling the storage size. Anyway, I've already added a preference for the pre-caching (which will default to false until the second issue is addressed - either in LMS as proposed 'here' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?98776-Registering-custom-resizing-specificiations-to-be-pre-cachedp=749502viewfull=1#post749502), or by changing my GUI to use _o resizing, which isn't affected by it), so in the next version, you can decide yourself if you want it or not. OK, I understand better now. Looking forward to the next version. For experimentation I set Settings\Interface\Thumbnail Size to 50 and rescanned, result is that browsing by large album cover showed the cover the same size as the small small album cover. Accessing the extGUI4LMS kicked off an Artwork scan that took 10 minutes for 10,006 covers and blew Artwork.db to 644,720KB from 241,088KB. After a day of use artwork.db has grown to 685,878KB. It appears that the change to stick with jpg has curbed the excessive growth of the artwork.db . If I change Settings\Interface\Thumbnail Size to 200, will that : 1. reduce the artwork.db size ? There is an icon that when clicked resize image to window size, I suggest that the resized image be the default display and the icon display image at original size. 2. If there is more than one image, e.g. a booklet painstakingly scanned, the user has to close the first image displayed, right click on the postage stamp sized cover art and select the next image to display. Could a simple arrows be added up near the resize icon if there is more than one image ? e.g. Next Image, Last image kind of thing. 3. In the Currently Playing section, could an indicator be added to indicate the presence of extra images - then maybe if the album cover image is clicked display the cover image at window size complete with the arrows mentioned in #2. 4. Cosmetic problem on my display, the little window that pops up after right clicking the small image has the list of images repeated. (Chrome) You appear to be putting a lot of effort into Discogs data retrieval - what data do you send Discogs to identify the currently playing track - in my limited testing I appear to get nothing back, what should I expect ? ... there is not much in the Help - Discogs integration Album information provided by Discogs can be displayed. This may not reflect exactly the album in the local library, as there is no way to find out which exact version it is (normal vs. extended, various formats etc.). Note that Discogs limits accesses via the public API (see here for details). This is especially relevant for full-sized images, so expect delays (and even timeouts) when using the Save to server function. I have watched the evolution of this impressive software for a while now and tried it once or twice, however it does not suit the way I control LMS. In my house LMS runs on a low power PC under the TV, the PC also providing TV recording, video and DVD playback. LMS plays music exclusively from its local library and uses SugarCube to continue playing after starting with either an album or track. LMS is started by Orange Squeeze on a Nexus or the LMS gui on my laptop in the study. I normally leave a window open on the SugarCube Live View so that little tweaks can be made to the playlist - usually adding tracks suggested by MIP that SugarCube has not queued up. The original reason for my first post in this thread was to identify a plugin that displayed the extra scanned images and then to suggest to the tablet developers that they should leverage the work done to display the images on their tablet applications. Roland0 wrote: That's a rather neat idea. I've implemented it in the GUI I'm writing (see 'here' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?98186-Announce-Alternative-Web-Interface-(beta))). It's pretty simple: if you right click on the cover of a track in the current playlist, you'll get a menu showing all images (jpg, png) located in the same directory as the track. Clicking on a menu entry will display the picture: 14577 so you can just put any image there, name it appropriately (back.png, booklet.png) and they will be available in the menu (as back and booklet in this example) This works. In fact it is excellent. I didn't try this when Rolly first posted as the extGUI4LMS would hang my low power server at that stage of its development - but now that extGUI4LMS is rather slick and loads a bit of data, displays and then loads more data while you cogitate what is displayed, I gave it a go and am most impressed! Interesting choice for the example (http://www.allmusic.com/album/teatime-favourites-mw0001998962). It has a setting for Default rating for automatic rating on non rated tracks - does this correspond to the rating of unrated tracks you see? Rolly, love the new splash screen on version v0.7.7 The mid screen circle thingy does not stop spinning or go away - is this expected? In MIP terms a Mixable Track is one that has been analyzed even if the Analysis tags have not been saved to the file. To me it feels important to have support for it when using a IR remote and it would be nice to have something better when using a Controller but on the touch screen it feels less important since you have access to a full virtual keyboard. But maybe I'm missing something ? Erland, There are two features of Lazy Search that make it the superior search tool - 1. The lazy remote user logic that allows the user to press a key once rather than up to 4 times, 2. The search logic that first determines if the search is for Artist, Album or Song, then the logic that displays the matches after 3 keystrokes while allowing the user to refine the search and so reduce the number of matches by adding keystrokes until the matches are at a scrollable number. The Touch search does not start searching until the 'done' key is pressed, then asks My Music or Internet Radio, then Artist, Album etc, then displays the list and it is only at this time that the user may realise that the search needs to be refined and the whole process started again after a bunch of back keystrokes. I think a version of Lazy Search for the touch only using the Touch remote would be the way to go as trying to combine the touch keyboard and search results would be clunky. A version for the web gui, based on the Lazy Search search logic would also be good. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Henry, have a look at this post http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=307716postcount=17 The Mix happens when the 'M'is against a track or album. (maybe worthwhile reading the rest of the thread http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=307716#post307716) Henry66;593972 Wrote: Some other questions: On the SpiceFly site somewhere it says -Its recommended to set MIP to “archive analysis” this places the fingerprint in the music file, just like a mp3 id tag-. I don't see a setting in MIP for archive analysis? Does MIP add new tags to my music files to store info? Or does it update existing tags? I don't want it to change any of the existing tags that I have so painstakingly set up. I don't mind GENRE being changed since I have not put much effort into that, but definitely leave my ARTIST, ALBUM, TITLE, etc tags alone. What does the Fix Tags button do? I am very afraid to press it. In the MIP gui, click on the red spanner icon to bring up the Preferences box, then General, then tick the box next to 'Archive analysis when tracks are analyzed'. Then when a track is analyzed, two new tags are added but no existing tags are altered. In Squeezebox Server, Server Settings / Plugins / set 'Only read Mixable Status', then I keep it simple - Player Settings for each mix to No, Mix Size to Number of Tracks to 75, Style 150, Variety 3, Mix Genre to No, Reject 2 tracks, and important Reload interval 0, stops it automatically scanning. Henry66;593972 Wrote: There is some overlap between MIP and GenPUID (used by a script that I have in MediaMonkey), but I don't think I quite understand what does what. Is GenPUID a subset? In MM I have set up the MusicIP Tagger script to Store PUID in Grouping and Update track genre. Is that compatible with MIP? The MM script sometimes fails like this: -C:\Users\Henry\Music\The Verve\Urban Hymns\1 - The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony.mp3 - no results!- Why? Once I understand what GenPUID and MIP are doing to my music files I will look into installing SugarCube. Henry, I have not used the GenPUID stuff so cannot help here. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP: newbie questions
Henry, If the 'M' shows in the gui as detailed in my previous post, then when the MIP mix preferences are set, you can make a mix from the Touch. On the Touch, select New Music, Select an album and all the tracks displayed. (I have only just got a Touch and have only tried this from New Music, but it should work from any track or album selected by search or browse). Long touch on a track brings up a display that shows details of the track and the last item in the display is Create MusicIP Mix. Tap that and a mix will be created and a new menu appears headed MusicIP Mix, first item Play Mix and then all the tracks in the mix are listed. Tap the 'Play Mix' and away it will go. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP: newbie questions
Are you running the MIP gui ? If so, click Options / Services, the API should be ticked. Click the Show Services box. This should bring up a browser window that shows the active services. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP: newbie questions
Henry, good stuff. I was looking through threads to find a screendump - http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=312980postcount=270 of the scan that shows MIP data being imported, I thought that may be your next stumbling block. You should now try different Mix Style and Variety settings to suit your taste. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee.
