Don't forget to look @ the regular Catalyst 5000's too. More often than not, I see the 2901's 5002's go for more than a regular 5 slot 5000. Secondly- a Sup I should suffice for the homelab. I don't know of any reason you'd need to run 5.X code. The Sup change should save a $1000 or better.
