With all of the discussion of keel bolt backing plates, I uncovered two
new stainless steel backing plates and three old mild steel backing
plates from our old Redwing 35. They measure 2.5" X 4" with a 1"
diameter hole. The stainless steel plates are 3/8" thick and the mild

We have a cushion that was under a leaking port that needs to be
recovered. Anyone know what the fabric was that was used on a 1983 C
35-3? It appears to be a blue tweed fabric (maybe Mediterranean Blue
Tweed from Sunbrella). We really don't want to reupholster the whole
interior.
BTW:
My first keel boat (Southcoast 23) used Tri Butyl Tin bottom paint. It
was in Lake Texhoma when I bought it and I moved it to Lake Lewisville
(Dallas' primary drinking water reservoir). I changed over to a copper
based ablative when I brought her up to Lake Michigan.

Rob,
Where is the Canada Cup held? I would definitely follow it given the
chance. There has to be some press coverage to generate interest. I
always follow the Chi-Mac race and have competed in several Queen's Cup

Rick,
That 50-60K spin is pocket change relative to the cost of the hydraulic
pumps that we designed for the AC boats. 2 speed, 9 piston axial
pumps. Coffee grinder driven. The components were literally made by
the providers of F-18 flight controls, engine controls and engine
accessories.
Dennis,
Looks very similar to what was on Corsair, Hull #7.

grade axial piston pumps for the last AC boats. We provided electric
motor pumps for the practice boats but the race boats are mechanically
driven. The hydraulics were for the foils and winches. The grinders

Ron,
Here is my recipe to bring up a shine on my boats. I am a fan of the
Aurora products. I wash the boat down with Boat Clean in the wash
water, use Boat scrub on a sponge across the topsides and use Black
Streak remover on any of the stubborn spots. That always leaves the
topsides with
Chuck,
It was -6 (F) here in sunny SW Michigan this morning. No need to go all

I have a reaching strut out in the pole barn from my old Redwing 35 (C
