Hi,
My expectation and this is how it's been explained to me by the author of
the KAT500 software is that when the tuner is not powered it will be in
bypass mode. This is the way every other auto tuner I am aware of works.

Excellent, that's the mode I will use it in.

Manual mode does exactly what you want. Press manual, transmit, and then
the tuner will tune.
We're printing the new manual right now and it will be up on the web as
soon as it is shipping
filter load.

I built my K3/10 and installed the KRX3 with no issues of different

BTW running both Rx with dual LP-Pan on MAP65v2.3 sw shows the audio

Hi,
So are you suggesting using a choke balun on both ends of the parallel wire
feedline?

Does Elecraft have a balun solution for balanced feeders for the KAT500

See the Choke Cookbook

On the K3 (probably common code with the KX3) the bandwidth knobs also
seem to be ignored during transmit. I often use the K3 for PACTOR which
is rapidly changing between transmit and receive. Sometimes I find I have

Any hope for serial command support for the receive equalizer?

Can I ask ELECRAFT what's next on the list for the K3 firmware
improvements we can expect...
Hi Gordan,
Best guess:
- improved CW decode at all AGC settings
- support for KAT500
. One
of the challenges will be to communicate with it over a distance of about
100' and I expect I have to use an Ethernet serial server that I already
possess.

the SWR is below 2.0 or 1.5 is merely a shortcoming in their tuning
algorithms. I am having high hopes for the KAT500. Is anything known on how
many bits of L and C resolution is there?

What Don says is true as far as it goes. The L-network tuner has only one
and his IC-756 has strong wideband noise even with key up (I am
sure he does nut run full QSK). The key up noise must be produced by his
amplifier chain, not the synth. It of course also completely rules out noise
from my synthesizer as the cause.

Hi,
Wow, the number 1 spot! That's incredible. Congratulations. I am especially
surprised and impressed by the phase noise performance. I had the impression
that the synth in the KX3 wasn't that great for phase noise, being a DDS
without a cleanup PLL.

Hi,
I am always curious about synthesizer technology utilized in new radios. If
it's not DDS, then what is is it?

That's because Its not a DDS. :-)
