Start simplifying things first and then add more bits.
Don't blame the radio as many others have great success. We just need to sort
out your environment.

OK, ... what's the FHM-1 "Flex Hand Microphone"?
I can't find it in the flex-store.

The current limiting of the power supply is well above 5 amps, so adding the
fuse might be a good idea. Otherwise, the supply should work fine.

back to Win7 I would recommend trying to determine what is causing
the high DPC count (Video driver? WiFi driver? Malware scanner?). That way you
could watch for updates to the offending object in case you want to try Win8
again.

I hope the above is a little bit more descriptive."

that only take a few or 20 watts to drive weren't the
target when VU5K was designed. All the big gun operators were clamoring for 50
to 60 watts to drive their 3CX tube amplifiers without needing an
interstage driver amplifier. That was then and this its now. So what?
Please give it
the circuit with a piece that is "4 dB
longer".
I hope the above is a little bit more descriptive.

flon dielectric coax that's very thin and has about twice the loss of LMR-100
and can handle even more power. One would only need 22-25 feet of it for 4.0
dB @ 2 meters.
