Just wanted to report a positive finding for PPC users as it seems like

Yes, for the most part support for PPC has been dropped, and that does seem
to also include a repo port even for 16.04, as when I try to upgrade my

Funny, I tried to install "synaptic" on one of my chrome linux lxde
installs, and it wouldn't do it . . .

Did one install of lxde and it turned out to be "precise" . . . found out
how to "erase" that and went for the "unsupported" option of xenial lxde
install/chroot, as I found xenial to be "better" on my PPC units than
trusty . . . . That does provide a very basic "open-box-y" like lxde
I just came into possession via hand-me down of an older Samsung ARM
Chromebook . . . fine for what it is, but could anyone here offer on
guidance on the "cost/benefit" ratio of the crouton + DE route or the "nuke
pave" of Chrome OS and fresh install of a linux OS???
The HD must be around 10GB .
er touches for
different operations than in 10.6 . . . but, as mentioned, the mouse makes
a lot of tasks easier and more precise than the finger . . . .

You can use the control button and click the touchpad . . . or go into

@Christian:
"We" need more details in order to comment, what version of Lubuntu? what
"G4" are you working with? What video card does it have?

This is because we received *zero* testing for PowerPC in 16.04.1. If

Yep, I think I've mentioned that same slow boot time in both of my PPC
Xenial installs, Lu & MATE . . . as well as slow boot for FF . . . once
that gets going things move along fairly well . . . but it's not a zippy
boot process to the log in window.

All is forgiven; but, yes I have more or less been doing semi-regular
updates, some of which have been
@Nio:
A little pressed for time as far as doing a zsync and qa testing, so since
I have Xenial running in two PPC computers I thought I'd check
update/upgrade to see if anything significant would change. I dusted off
the old motorola units and on both U-MATE & Lu 16 they showed about the

Haven't been exactly following the thread, but have you been able to boot a
"live" DVD or USB of whatever system that are then trying to install? Or,
you are just "installing"?? Usually I test out the system . . . and if you
can get to a GUI before installing it, that might be indicative
