Mutt of course shouldn't crash on postponing over to an IMAP folder,

It is *only* used as a default from header value for new messages
(new mails and replies too unless $reverse_name comes into effect).
If you want to set the From header from a send-hook, you must use
"my_hdr From:".

is very basic. If you need anything fancier than
that, you're better off using fetchmail (or some other POP MTA).
If you're not happy with that, you can always write your own patch...
I guess it might be useful to have at least the POP-to-program option.
