The new Netscape (6.01, I think) is pretty stable. Your
best bet would be to just use Mozilla 0.93. I have also found
that Galeon and Konqueror are pretty stable.

Then my pppd is "buggy" too, and that's the reason why I don't reach
connection. But if so, how to upgrade to 2.4.1?
That's chinese to me :-((

Firstly, I _strongly_ suggest that you use Mozilla instead of Netscape 6.x.
Netscape 6.1 is Mozilla 0.9 with some advertising courtesy of AOL (who own
Netscape). Mozilla is currently at version 0.9.2, which is faster and less
buggy than Netscape 6.x (and probably always will be).

You have got to try Opera. That is the creme-de-la-crop web browser for
Linux.

You can also get 6.1 in a 28 meg tar.gz form from netscape. I must say that
it is alot better than 6.0. I haven't used it alot, but it hasn't crashed on
me yet while 6.0 crashed every dern time I opened it. (Of course I must say

I've had the same problem. It's better to just download the larger tar.gz file
from ftp.mozilla.org directly. You'll probably want to
I have had this very same problem with my machine. I decided to scrap using
Netscape, and use Mozilla instead. It has the exact same feel of Netscape,
plus the wheel on my mouse works. :-)

I've noticed this as well. I've had it come down to working one night, and the
next day, it doesn't. In Netscape that is. I can use the mousewheel in XTerms
and Nedit and things of that nature, but if I try and use it with Netscape, it
doesn't work. It's like it works when it wants to.

Well, they usually work out of the box in 8.0, but here's a link since yours
didn't:

Why not just select Edit from the Netscape menu, then
Prefences-Navigator-Clear History. Clear the cache by
Edit-Preferences-Advanced-Cache-Clear Disk (and/or) Memory Cache?

I just do:
rm ./.netscape/cache/*
& then:
rm ./.netscape/xover-cache/*

1)Netscape in and of itself takes longer to open than one would
normally expect from an application. I would guess it is in
some part due to how bloated the program has become. I finally
gave up on Netscape for this very reason and began using Opera,
which opens almost instantly.
