Too late I know, but I'll attempt an answer anyway. Some of the senders for the warning light are set as low as 3PSI, at which stage the engine may be damaged anyway. You need to somehow verify the gauge/sender are giving you an accurate reading. Until you're able to do that I'd avoid using it.
