I like Darks suggestion to a description in the app store. the unique thing about this game is that you just start in a very small room with the fire, and then unlocks more and more while playing. It's very important to have this described in the app store, so people gets interested in the game. It may also be important to mention that this game is not command based, but a click and point adventure, and of course, fully accessible with Voiceover. I would say it's a pretty fair dream... and one that I share. You're right, the philosophical ideas would take adapting to. And one of the ones is the treatment of disability... it isn't horrible, and it's better than it used to be, but a lot of the time people who are disabled are still marginalized, though as I said it's improving. It comes from the same beliefs many other Asian cultures have... that disability is a bad thing because of Karma or what have you. Another thing is a tendancy for Japanese people to be polite no matter what the situation is... even a lot of the students I teach acknowledge the fact that sometimes, not all, Japanese people tend to act differently around one person if they are there versus if they aren't. So it all depends... but as I said, it would definitely be worth it to travel there... I teach English regularly to japanese students, and so many of them have invited me to come visit... and I wish I could. I would encour

Seriusly considering studying, working, or visiting in Japan, thoughts

Like many, my first exposure to Japanies culture in some asspect was through Anime, or mentions of samurai in various types of media. However recently, i began to heavily study the culture of Japan, and listen to other American's experiences on what it was like to live in Japan. Yes i know, culture shock would probably be a big thing to overcome, as well as learning the language. However, i have thought of going to the country to study the language, and use it by interacting with the people. This plan of mine is all theoretical at this point, and i have not taken any action to further this line of thinking as of yet. I completely understand that money will be an issue. If anyone knows of any grants, or blind organizations who support trips to Japan in any form please let me know. I am also aware that the culture is very traditional, and many of the phillisophical beliefs that the culture holds will take adapting to. In other words, Anime isn't seen in the same light as i

No, windows 8 isn't the issue. I'm perfectly happy with this laptop in fact it actually looks quite good to me... wondering what you think of the specs listed there? Every time this has happened was in Viridian Forest.  Not sure the first time because I wasn't expecting it, but afterward twice it happened when fighting bug catcher Doug and once with another bug catcher, I forget the name not sure if it was Sammy or the other one but when progressing in the forest it's two trainers after Doug.  Nothing else unusual was happening before the battle or even before the glitch, it just sort of happens unexpectedly.  I'm not sure if this is what the others are doing but since the error window comes up right after the error is encountered I tried select all and copy pasting once the game stopped but all it does is make Microsoft stop responding every time it tries to paste.  So weird!  I hope I'm doing something wrong in trying to copy it that way.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=161259#p161259

The error report happens in a new window that pops up. It is a window with a text box inside of it with text that can be copied to the clipboard. I'm not sure how accessible it is, but other members have copied the crashes, including people with total blindness. I'll contact one of my buddies tonight on how he does this to try to help you out a bit.There is no error logging feature anymore which is fairly unfortunate since that was a lot easier... Using TTS for voice acting is not a good idea. It detracts from the over-all audio gaming experience for a lot of people, myself not included.I am wonderring about the auto-licensing system. I am wonderring how it is possible to use such a system to generate keys. How is that secure? For instance, Rail Racer orders must be taken care of by an actual person. This seems like the most secure approach to me, that way the amount of replacement keys being asked for can be monitored. It seems to me that the auto-licensing system would be a drawback in this regard. The advantage of course being that people do not have to wait on a human to generate a key when an order is placed. Hi Kamochek.Well I have loved most of my teachers throughout school but only one in the way that you mean. This was years ago in high school and her name was Sara. I had to take a year of spanish with her and had a lot of fun. She was smart and funny and interesting and pretty and after a while I realized that I liked her a lot. Nothing ever happened between us because she was married and I didn't want to put her in a position like that. One thing I think you should do if your comfortable with it is getting out and meeting other girls. It definitly helped me because when I was in sixth grade I used to well I guess get attached to one particular girl or another and that isn't always a good thing like you would think.Well besides that going a little off topic kamochek you are going to have to realize that you can't convert everybody to what you believe even though it's hard to except. People have there own beliefs and they always will. No matter how m
 uch you want to you shouldn't try to change people because that can cost you friendships with people who have different beliefs than you do. As for the turning around you shouldn't do that in public because it does make you stand out. My sister told me a long time ago that just because you can't see doesn't mean that people can't see you. I've always thought that was an interesting point and so when I do something I think about how it might look to a sighted person. For example I like to rock back and forth and I have a chair that rocks back and forth. Well, fortunately I fiddled around with it a little. Sony computers apparently do let you have sound before startup, but windows+enter didn't work. I had to pull up the ease of access center and start from there. I haven't set up the whole thing yet because my family's encouraging me to find another computer... and I'm not too happy with that idea, since this computer has very good specs. And most of my friends who have this computer recommend it highly. I think the looping changes when it happens.  Just now it happened again after asking if I wanted to switch Pokémon in a trainer battle, but last time it had been during a battle. What it will do is set the voice two steps behind the actual stage of the game.  Normally you would keep entering past your Pokémon's and the enemy Pokémon's hp report, but in this case instead of entering that would be the point where you arrow to choose from fight, item and pokemon.  So you choose fight, but when it goes to the moves list the voice is still stuck behind so it tells you your hp.  After you choose an attack it acts normally, does the sound and says you're attacking then after you enter it does the opponent's sound and says they're attacking, but after that it does the same as last time where instead of entering after the enemy attacks, you have to choose fight and then the attack while the game says your hp.  Because of this the opponent's hp report gets skipped because after you choose a move it again acts normally with reporting your and your opponent's moves.  And this time it waited until talking to the next trainer to crash, so it's really weird where it's not set in stone for when it happens.  Let me know how to get the error report so I can post it as well.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=161246#p161246

Great with the fixes Amir. Regarding hints I am a little surprised that people have hints turned off since  your by no means the first  person who uses vo hints  to provide extra  information, indeed some accessible Iphone games would be unplayable without them. I patched that a while ago but forgot to update the link, since it was it should be fixed in the most recent release.Your rival isn't programmed there yet but there is grass. I might modify the map a bit since there's a lot of traveling south you have to do to reach the grass and it's a bit excessive in my opinion... The grass is definitely there though. Ok.This is not something I ever shared anywhere, but I guess it's alright now that it's over.When I was in high school, I had a crush on my English Teacher.  Her name was Ms. Mc... (won't write the whole name, but you know what I mean).  Anyway, this Ms. Mc was notoriously social with her students.  She added them to facebook, had private discussions with various students, ETC.Now, back during that year I had a crush on her, and I knew it.  But I also knew it wasn't going anywhere.  That was when I learned that feelings are uncontrollable, but you must use the logical part of your brain to combat those feelings.On the other side, I do have a professor here in college that I love, but as an almost serigate mother.  She treats all her students as sons and daughters, because she's never really had kids and physically can't have kids.  I know she'll do almost anything for us, to the point whe

Well "love" is such a slippery word anyway, and so long as it'snot in a dodgy sense, since that is something that could go very wrong if the teacher takes advantage of a student (and yes, women teachers have been tguilty of this in the past)."love" as friend or confidant or similar however is indeed no problem.    You might say that I "love" my tutor, who has seen me through a degree, masters and doctorate, we have spent lots of time together including meeting up for drinks and lunch outside tutorials, indeed we've had discussions recently because he's had a detached retina, and he wanted to know about  magnifyers etc, but if I would use the word "love" this would be more the sense that a person can love a wise and kindly uncle who you have a huge respect for.I've had similar thoughts for teachers in the past and at school, though it's always been in that sort of surragate parent relation
 ship, not as Kile said the way I would "love" a girl.   Indeed, there's no reason not to have friends who are older, one person I know I met playing nation states and we've stayed in contact ever since (even having conversations by phone), is a  lady in her fifties. Bare in mind though, the opposite  can also be true. I've  had teachers who were completely vile and unpleasant  and who I absolutely disliked, some I'd even say I hated. @SLJ thank you for the warm welcome. I've really struggled with the description of the game in the App Store. An important part of A Dark Room is the element of surprise when you first start playing. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into. Thanks for the detailed reply. I did actually fix the previously noted glitches last night so I will check out the things you pointed out today.in reffrrence to the music glitch, if you walk out of the gym while the intro is playing, the rest of the song doesn't start; in fact no music plays until I go into a pokemart or senter or go back into the gym.This is a fairly minor issue, it's just that the way the music works with loops it can be cumbersome. It's... very unappealing in terms of the way I have to set it up at least (using timers and all sorts of garbage). Pokemon MMO offers donations and bonuses from such things, and I plan to follow suit, as such things are used for server costs and implementation of other projects (the latter which will be my primary focus after Braillemon 1 is fully released).

@Slj, regarding the history and updates, one thing I have noticed is that you only tend to get a couple of updates spoken if you directly touch the bottom of the screen where history is, however if you swipe to history and then listen you will get the last four or five updates, so you will not miss things. This confused me  initially as  well, but once I realized swiping was needed to trigger the hints to speak the rest of the  updates, I found no problems with this and haven't worried about missing stuff sinse, though I would still prefer the history had time to speak the travel results before the encounter with the scout after you get back from a journey. Regarding combat, well the more extra weapons you can carry the better off you will be since the more attacks you will have, and you should run across something else to help soon. Just bare in mind if you die out in the  barren world you lose all your items, which can be a pretty grim pena

I couldn't possibly fit anything more in it, unless I wanted to write a book. And note that I did also emphasize that I wrote the thesis from the perspective of a sighted person with more previous experience of playing video games than audio games, and that I warmly recommend research on the topic from many other perspectives as well. I don't think there are any right or wrong perspectives to approach the topic of audio games with, and only by exploring many of them can we start to understand the whole picture.I guess you can say that this is an attempt to explain sound in audio games mainly based on theories and viewpoints from previous research of sound in video games and other audio-visual medias, in order to show the main differences between the two. I suppose it could make sense to use "Input-Process-Output" instead of "Player, Game System, Virtual Reality", but since it deals more with audio games based on a humanities approach (and even semiotics) rather than from an engineering and technology perspective, I felt that this explanation would be more representative.It also made more sense to me to structure the thesis in this manner, in order to relate previous research to the different entities.And for your last comment regarding the indie scene on PC/mobile, do you refer to the indie scene for audio games or video games?Thank you again for you inputs, BlackBird!
