Dear all,

I knew that the CCNP have changed Version. The four subject are now
1.Routing 2.Swtiching 3.Remote Access 4.Support

I knew that For Routing and Switching, there are new cisco press book for
the two subject

Routing-Building Scalable Cisco Networks
Switching-Building Multilayered Cisco Switched Networks

But for Remote Access and Support, are they still using the same book called
Building Cisco Remote Access Network and Cisco Internetwork Trobleshooting

Re: Watchdog Timer (restart)???

2000-08-16 Thread Flem

Watchdog timer is used for timing software or hardware
operations that misbehave and take unexpectedly long
time to finish ( if they finish ).
Watchdog timers are reset at the beginning of each
operation. If the Watchdog timer expires while an
operation is taking place, an exception is flaged and
the system may reset.

This is what you see .
It is always a problem and can be a software bug or
hardware failure . If it is a one time event you could
close your ticket , if it persist then it will need
some attention . As with ALL crashes , get at least
the sh stack , version , router logs to start with.
If you gathered the info look at cco if you can match
a bug id , if you can't open a tac case .

Not Cisco-specific, but generically here's what this means.

CPU software normally runs in a closed loop. It processes tasks, performs
calculations, handles input, produces output, and goes around and around.

If the main proces gets confused or gets out of the loop, then the
machine is "hung", and performing abnormally. To get it back into a
sane state usually means turning its power on and off, hitting a hard
reset button, or similar external stimulus to re-initialize the process
and get it back on track.

A "watchdog timer" operates in somewhat the opposite manner as a live
canine watchdog. A real watchdog is asleep until it hears a burglar,
and then it wakes up and generates a stimulus such as barking.

Within the main software loop of a program, there can be written an
instruction to reset a timer to zero. If the program normally finishes
its loop and gets around to the same point once every second, then
the timer might be set to something like ten seconds, or far greater
than the normal time to compete the loop. Under normal circumstances,
the timer never runs out because it's being periodically reset by the
program.

If the program gets wedged, it will fail to repeatedly run the "reset
the watchdog" routine, the timer will expire, and when it does it will
reboot the system.

Think of it in the same terms as the heart rate monitors you see in
hospitals. (Or on TV shows of hospitals if you don't spend lots of
time in hospitals.) Under normal circumstances, the heartbeat keeps
the monitor silent. If the heartbeat stops, the alarm sounds, and
out come the guys with paddles and a jolt to reboot the patient.

Not necessarily limited to a particular flavor of router or switch,
common in many devices.

Re: MY 1ST JOB OFFER

2000-08-16 Thread Dapo Ola

To be quite frank, if I had a position offering me at least $12.5 per
hour working with cisco routers, I would gladly take it. Reasons why ::

1.) Working on a hobby and being paid for it?
 2.) Making $2000 /month for fun work?
3.) If it's a graveyard shift, all the better since I can finish
college during the day and not have to resort to night classes.
4.) And, let's not forget the most important part, getting hands-on
training, something which is definitely lacking in my university. Wish
we had cisco Courses and labs, which still isn't quite the same. But
anything helps.

But, who am I to compare myself to others, I have no financial
responsibilities, except rent , small bills and school fees of which
$2000 a month is more than enough to make me feel like richie rich, at
least for the next year and a half. Don't even have a girlfriend, she
said I spend too much time on my computer than I do with her :)

Well... So you don't have to type it in several times, I used to think...
But really, the logical way it is set up is creating the access list, and
applying the access group. You could ask this question of any config
command that you think should be applied at an individual interface.

Correct me if I'm wrong. :-)

Re: MY 1ST JOB OFFER

2000-08-16 Thread Timothy Harkin

Finding ways to get experience can be a HUGE help. I changed careers six
months ago (from 'traditional' engineering). Prior to taking the leap, I
got my MCSE and had started towards my CCNA. I feel that the certs helped
me get interviews. However, I NEVER claimed to be an expert in anything - I
just stated my belief that having the cert means that I have a certain
minimum level of knowledge.

I recieved job offers because I had found experience on a volunteer basis.
I set up a network for my church and for a local community center. I also
performed other non-networking tasks for non-profits so I could have a more
rounded IT resume (i.e., I set up an Access database for a local parks
conservatory group to track their donors).

I also found that the best way to get job offers is through word-of-mouth.
Newspapers and job boards only produce jobs that would put me at a salary I
was making ten years ago. I did take a pay cut from my old salary, but I
found a job in a small investment firm where I will not have to spend six
months just doing user accounts or some other drudgery.

Permissions

2000-08-16 Thread Roan, Wayne

Gentlemen and Ladies,

Thanks for your help on the use of usernames. My next question is
where could I find a list of permissions I can assign certain usernames or
how can I assign certain usernames with the enable permission? I got the
router to login via telnet using usernames, but now I'm trying to use those
same usernames for different permissions (enable mode, etc.).

Thanks again.

Re: Fail to change line speed

Ken,

I had this on a 2621 when I was setting up AUX DDR via an attached modem. I
found that removing the
"modem autoconfigure discovery" command I had previously entered allowed me
to change the speed
from 9600 to 115200.

Hope this helps,

I have heard that there is an emulation software

ISDN Security

2000-08-16 Thread michael . ibidunni

  Hello all,

Can anyone tell me if what I'm trying to do is possible
I am setting up a point to point ISDN link between my organisation
and a third party company that needs dialin access into our network for
application support, but I am looking for a way if possible not to let the
third party dialin without first informing us. I can't put in a time
restriction because we have a 24hours operations, so they might want to
dialin any time.

Thanks in advance

As for as I'm aware you cannot tweek what times a remote site dials into your

It may have to involve a manual process.

Hi,

The "privilege" command allows you to assign different privileges to be
assigned to certain commands. You can then assign those privileges to
different users with the same "username" command that you have been using.
Check out the following url on cco for more info:

I believe in the word-of-mouth as well. I've been hunting the job boards
and not getting much. A friend referred me to someone, actually had an
interview with a technical person and now I'm getting an offer. They didn't
care much for my certifications, although that helps when discussing salary.
They liked my experience. Lord knows how long it would be until I got an
offer from any apps. I sent out via the job boards.

2000-08-16 Thread Roger Wang

H... interesting. You shouldn't have to do anything at the LS1010. You
don't even need to put LECS's NSAP address in the LS1010 if you don't want
to, or can't, in the case of the actual exam. There are other ways around
it. But, it does look like you have other problems if you can't even get
the NSAP prefix from the ATM switch. I'm not sure if you need to turn on
LANE service first (on the routers) before you can see the NSAP prefix under
"show lane default".

CLSC - Replacement Class??

2000-08-16 Thread Gaines, Rhonda

I see that CLSC is no longer listed as a class. What course replaced it?
I've taken ICRC a while back before it included switching. Is the CLSC
switching info now included in ICND? What would be a good class to take for
switching?

Redundant Firewall with automatic failover

2000-08-16 Thread Muthuraja Ayyanar

Hi All,

We are planning to have Internet connection to our company from two sites
with a checkpoint firewall ( On Nokia Appliance ) , we want to have an
automatic failover scenario in case if one of the Internect connection/link
, router or one of the firewall goes down .what's the best way to go about ,
can i go in for a static and floating static at each site , with the static
default route pointing to the firewall on site A and floating static site @
site A pointing to the firewall on site B and similar thing on the Site B as
well??? I think this would work , have anybody implemented a similar
soultion??? I am sure this is a classical dual-homing Internet solution
which most of the organisation would have implemented ..

Also for our Internal Network we would be using OSPF , any special
consideration like default-information originate have to be taken care...

Where does BGP comes into play if at all we need that alongside with
static/floating static combination??

Any ideas/suggestion is greatly appreciated??

Thanks,

Muthu

RE: books on security specialization

2000-08-16 Thread Chuck Larrieu

Probably because all the security specialization is, really, is a bit of
Cisco's idea of security policy and then the rest is hands on work with
Cisco equipment. Oh, yeah, there is a bit on encryption and such, but
generally the exam covers policy, security threats, CBAC and other access
lists, and PIX configuration. The CCNP/Security is essentially a low level
security certification, and should in no way be confused with those guys who
make 300K doing complex security assessments and implementations for major
banks, ISP's,  and brokerages. :->

RE: ISDN Security

2000-08-16 Thread Charles Gatrelle

Michael,

I think a possible solution to your problem is to use a TeleWall to monitor
those lines (I am not familiar with ISDN lines, so the example is for an
analog modem).

If you added the following rule to your TeleWall security policy it would
alert you each time the vendor connected to the app server, as well as alert
you each time an unauthorized person tried to connect to the app server:

Objects in Policy
[ App Vendor - Specific phone number vendor will call from ]
[ App Server - phone number of modem connected to your application server ]

TeleWall Security Policy

Source Destination Call Type
Action Track

1. App Vendor App Server Modem
Allow Email Staff
2. ANY App Server ANY
Terminate Email Staff

RE: ip forward-protocol vs. ip helper-address

2000-08-16 Thread Leigh Anne Chisholm

The "command ip helper-address" enables forwarding for eight UDP ports - time (37),
TACACS (49), DNS (53), BOOTP/DHCP Server (67), BOOTP/DHCP Client (68), TFTP (69),
NetBIOS Name Service (137) and NetBIOS Datagram Service (138). However, there may be
times when you want to forward other UDP ports besides these 8.

The command "ip-forward protocol" gives you more granularity over forwarding UDP
datagrams. You literally can forward any UDP port from 0-65535 if you should so
choose. Here's the output of the options which can be used with "ip forward-protocol"
for Cisco IOS 11.2:

  <0-65535>Port number
biff Biff (mail notification, comsat, 512)
bootpc Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP) client (68)
bootps Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP) server (67)
  discard Discard (9)
  dnsixDNSIX security protocol auditing (195)
domain Domain Name Service (DNS, 53)
  echo Echo (7)
  mobile-ipMobile IP registration (434)
nameserver IEN116 name service (obsolete, 42)
  netbios-dgm NetBios datagram service (138)
  netbios-ns NetBios name service (137)
  netbios-ss NetBios session service (139)
  ntp Network Time Protocol (123)
rip Routing Information Protocol (router, in.routed, 520)
snmp Simple Network Management Protocol (161)
  snmptrap SNMP Traps (162)
sunrpc Sun Remote Procedure Call (111)
  syslog System Logger (514)
tacacs TAC Access Control System (49)
  talk Talk (517)
tftp Trivial File Transfer Protocol (69)
  time Time (37)
  who Who service (rwho, 513)
xdmcpX Display Manager Control Protocol (177)

Passed CCNP 2.0

2000-08-16 Thread John Barnes

Well a few weeks of studying and I'm finally finished
with this thing. Here's a list of what I studied, and
what worked for me. Hope it helps!

Week of July 3rd
   Passed Routing 2.0
I read Jeff Doyle's Routing TCP/IP Volume one and
Halabi's Internet Routing Archicture. Exam outline is
dead on.

Week of July 10th
   Passed Switching 2.0
I read the Cisco Switching book, and the CLSW from
Mcgraw-Hill. Exam outline again, is right on.

Week of July 17
Passed Novell 4.x to 5.0 upgrade.
I blame the completely boring material I had to
study for destroying my motivation for the next 2
weeks.

Week of July 24
SLACKED!!!
Week ok July 31
SLACKED MORE!!!

Week of Aug 7
   Monday-Passed CCDA.
I took CCDA not for the Cert, but to get me moving
again. Pretty easy test, just tedious.
   Wednesday-Passed Remote Access 2.0
I got Jeff Quigle's book for this. I basically
skimmed the book and took the test. Wasn't that bad.
Exam outline could be revised.

Week of Aug 14
   Passed Support 2.0
Ok. I got the Cisco Internet Troubleshooting book
from Cisco. I could not read this book, it was
completely boring. I took the test to see what was on
it and passed it. Coolness.

My advice:
Read Jeff Doyle's Routing TCP/IP Vol.1.
I got more out of this than any of the others.

Read Halabi's Internet Routing Architectures.
He manages to keep it interesting almost all the way
through.

Read the Cisco Switching book, I think by Kennedy
Clark. I managed to read it all the way through.

Well, it's onto the CCIE written probably in a few
weeks, I've started (again) on Caslow's book, and I
can't recommend it enough either.

Good Luck to All!

I know ATM devices get NSAP prefix from upstream

CCDP Friday

2000-08-16 Thread McCallum, Robert

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know that I am once again attempting the CID exam on Friday
13:30 GMT. Hope this time goes better than last (need to find 7%). A
question to everyone, my director has agreed to let me go on a 2 week Lab
with a training company for the CCIE, although I reckon that's marketing as
it is just a lab for a fortnight which forces you to try every protocol /
design under the sun. For the people in the UK it is with Horizon (anyone
done this with them b4), for everyone else do you reckon that this is a
waste of time. One of the prerequisites for this lab is to have passed the
CCIE written although I am wanting to use this lab as a help towards the
written / then to find out what I am lacking for the actual lab, is this
overkill? Another point now is what area is better to concentrate on the
CCIE R/S or the design, any views?

No Flames Please.

John,

sorry, you're quite right - I mis-read the question - read it as being the
VLAN itself. you can only have one VLAN *INTERFACE* live at one time - I
know as I've made a remote switch unreachable bringing up the wrong VLAN
nterface before now :-( Kept switching though, thankfully :-)

RE: Great book!

2000-08-16 Thread Sean Odom

The Cisco recommendations are really for medium to large organizations. My
recommendation for a hundred users (not knowing what the future expansion
plans hold are
1. If cost is a concern and you can do with 10 Mbps to each desktop go with
1924's and create a trunk between the two 10/100 ports.
2. If you need a little more umph and 10/100 to each desktop go with the
2900XL series.
3. If cost is not a concern and you have expansion plans, go with the 5000
family. They are much more equiped to handle expansion mondules.

By the way. Thanks for the comment. Before deciding on the equipment to
place in your network. Read the first 10 pages of Chapter 10, then decide
on your needs from Chapter 4 which lists all the available Catlayst switches
and their features. I am always available for comments!

Sean,

I just wanted to say congratulations on writing such a great book. The Exam
Prep Cisco Switching book is fantastic.

One question I have (if you don't mind and have the time) is we are
installing a new network from scratch and I was wondering what type of Cisco
switch that I should get for our office. We will have around 100 users with
some web development and coding work being done at our location. I am trying
to follow the Core, Distribution, and Access layer model that Cisco
recommends but the thing is that we are basically a flat network. Right now
I am leaning towards the 3548 XL switches but I am not sure if I need to go
to the 4000 or 5000 series.

Thanks,
Jeff

Never mind... for some reason this router needed to have the 'neighbor'
statement added to the configuration, instead of figuring it out by itself.
Once I added the statement telling it where it's neighbor was, then the
adjacency formed and the election process started.

I believe it is available separately (i.e., not bundled with Internet

For that matter, given Security interest, you might take a look at Internet
Security Consortium offering.  It is was $2,500 and covers pretty
near the whole

Not a dealer. Not a rep. Just repositioning.
Good luck.

RE: Great book!

2000-08-16 Thread Chuck Larrieu

Not too long ago there was a thread started by a guy who found himself in
layer 8 hell. Some users found out that they had 10mbs NICs while others had
100mbs NICs. Having spend many years in the brokerage business, I am quite
familiar with NIC envy. The brokers would start whining to me about need
faster NIC's so they could get their quotes faster.

I would say that in this day and age any NIC purchased should be 10/100, and
any new backroom equipment should be 100mbs switched. Servers should be
100mbs in any case.

Best way to avoid trouble? No be there!

Just one opinion.

RE: books on security specialization

Unless
SmartForce offerings have improved substantially since the last time I looked -
March or so - I wouldn't bother.

Besides, I'm not sure anyone ought to be spending time
learning Centri firewall ;->

Look,
for the security test, you can get all you need and more free on CCO. It's not
really a killer test ( yet! )

My opinion. worth what you paid for

Figure this one out!!! (damn telco)

2000-08-16 Thread NeoLink2000

Hey Group,
Got another issue for you all to give opinions on. We have a client's router
attached to the telco's FR cloud. We seem to have a problem with strickly the ping
command. When we ping an IP in the telco's net, we get dropped packets. Maybe 60% will
go through. Then maybe 100%, and so on. When other traffic goes through the line
everything is normal. The telco said that there is not a problem on their side and
they don't see anything wrong (as usual). We have looked at everything, ACL's, CIR's,
DE bits. We cant figure why this is happening and why packets are being dropped,
especially at the low rate of traffic that is being sent. It almost seems like when
you grab a water hose and bend it to stop the water from flowing and then let it go
the let the water flow again...strange stuff. What do you all think.

RE: ip forward-protocol vs. ip helper-address

2000-08-16 Thread Kent

Leigh,

Thanks for your reply, I kind of know the difference
of these two commands, but in the sample configure,
which just uses the 'ip forward protocol' without any
parameter, does it just by default enables forwarding
those 8 ports too?
I was confused by its using the 'ip forward protocol'
without paratmeter with 'ip hleper-address' together,
what is the point of this? Do they just enable the
same ports?
As this is from the CD, I think it should have some
meanings, maybe not, I just want to get some comments
on my doubts.

Thanks

Kent

DDR Dialer0

2000-08-16 Thread Kobbervig, David

Is it possible to have the dialer0 be assigned a dynamic address or does it
have to be assigned a static address or be ip unnumbered?

I don't have a static IP address from my ISP, and IP unnumbered won't work
because I am using 198.162.x.x internally. I am trying to configure my 3104
ISDN interface to dial my ISP. Additionally, will I run into issues with
NAT? Has anybody ever done this? What were your experiences?

Thanks!

Re: Figure this one out!!! (damn telco)

2000-08-16 Thread John Neiberger

Hmm...it seems to me that could be caused by several things. Where are you
pinging from? I remember a situation where someone was using HP OpenView
Network Node Manager to check out a problem and pings would fail sometimes,
but not others. It turns out that NNM has two different ping functions and
they use different data payloads with one of them being all zeroes, IIRC.
That one was failing, but the ping with a payload of mixed characters was
not failing. This indicated that a data line had the wrong coding/framing
configuration.

It seems possible that you might also have some sort of odd routing issue,
perhaps a flapping route. This might cause your network to be unstable and
could result in the symptoms you describe.

We really don't have enough details to make a determination. If you think
of any more relevant information, post it to the group and we'll all take a
crack at it. :-)

Make sure you don't have duplicated routes on either end. Look at your
interfaces to make sure your not dropping packets there, or getting CRC's,
runts, etc.

A question about BGP

2000-08-16 Thread Luobin Yang

Hi, group,

When reading Halabi's book on "Internet Routing Architecture", I couldn't
understand the following paragraph from P340 :

For BGP learned routes, an AS can also advertise these routes to another AS
with the internal IGP metric carried into BGP. This is achieved by using the
following command as part of a route map towards a neighbor: set metric-type
internal. This would cause BGP routes to carry the internal IGP metric as
MED.

Question 1 : Does the internal IGP metric here mean "hop count" for RIP,
cost for OSPF or composite metric for EIGRP & IGRP ?

Question 2: According this paragraph, the configuration command "set
metric-type internal" should be used on the example on the same page, why I
couldn't find this command in his example?

If anybody can give some direction, thanks a lot.

Re: CCDP Friday

2000-08-16 Thread Kevin Wigle

Ah, don't know exactly what to say...

I'd love for someone to pay for me to take a 2 week lab to prepare for CCIE.
Definitely not a waste of time.

What you have to determine is "what are my employer's expectations".

After the course, are you expected to get the written done and then the lab
in short order?

You say the lab has a prerequisite of having the written. Obviously, since
you're considering taking it that requirement isn't enforced. (just an
excuse the trainer can use if you complain that you couldn't follow).

So, for me - since I would be paying I have only my expectations to live up
to.

Don't commit to anything that you don't think you can realistically deliver.

Otherwise - take the course!

2000-08-16 Thread NeoLink2000

Hey group,
Thanks for the help I got from you. We wound up getting on the phone with telco
and worked through it with them. They said that they were seeing 140% overutilization
for the CIR on that link and when we would look at our show command we saw, for 3
minutes 16,000 bytes sent. Our CIR is 16K PER SECOND! We were doing 16k for 3 minutes
and those geniuses at telco, who were watching the link at the same time we were, said
that it was at 140% over. How does that add up??? Well I've learned something very
valuable in my first week of work in this field...NEVER TRUST, LISTEN TO, REASON WITH,
OR TRY TO UNDERSTAND...who?...you guessed it...TELCO!!! By the way, after about 20
minutes he says, "Oh, wait a minute...now I'm seeing something strange from that
device...I'll have to re-route this one" So tickets closed. Thanks for the help again
guys. I'll wait a little longer before posting these for now on. See-ya

RE: OPSF issue

2000-08-16 Thread Healis, Jim

I thought about the neighbor command when I first saw the issue. But the
neighbor to the router that was having problems, and all other routers in my
network, did not require the neighbor command which is why I was so puzzled
about needing it on this router... I can only blame it on the hodge-podge
work that was done to put together this network. Just imagine this network
like a series of band aids covering a cut... when the cut gets bigger you
just add another band aid, when the old band aid wears out...you put another
one on top. And now it's my job to rip the band aids off and use the dermal
regenerator. =)

Never mind... for some reason this router needed to have the 'neighbor'
statement added to the configuration, instead of figuring it out by itself.
Once I added the statement telling it where it's neighbor was, then the
adjacency formed and the election process started.

RE: Figure this one out!!! (telco was wrong)

2000-08-16 Thread David Jones

Understand that cir is rated in bits per second, so your 16k cir is 16,000
bits per second, that's 2,000 bytes per second, 120,000 bytes per minute, so
they were WAY off!!

Hey group,
Thanks for the help I got from you. We wound up getting on the phone
with telco and worked through it with them. They said that they were seeing
140% overutilization for the CIR on that link and when we would look at our
show command we saw, for 3 minutes 16,000 bytes sent. Our CIR is 16K PER
SECOND! We were doing 16k for 3 minutes and those geniuses at telco, who
were watching the link at the same time we were, said that it was at 140%
over. How does that add up??? Well I've learned something very valuable in
my first week of work in this field...NEVER TRUST, LISTEN TO, REASON WITH,
OR TRY TO UNDERSTAND...who?...you guessed it...TELCO!!! By the way, after
about 20 minutes he says, "Oh, wait a minute...now I'm seeing something
strange from that device...I'll have to re-route this one" So tickets
closed. Thanks for the help again guys. I'll wait a little longer before
posting these for now on. See-ya

PRI Connection

2000-08-16 Thread SH Wesson

I need assistance with hooking up a PRI. Telco has already brought in the
PRI line into a circuit in the room with a jack. I want the PRI to work
with my router. My router does have a PRI Multi-Channel card to handle
this. My question is, how do I connect the PRI line such that it will work
with the PRI multi-channel card. Will I need to connect the PRI line to a
CSU/DSU and then from the CSU/DSU to the RJ45 on the PRI multi-channel card.
If this is the connection type, on my CSU/DSU, the connection on it to the
router is a v.35 connector. How can I accomplish this. Thank you.

Re: PIX

2000-08-16 Thread bellis

Ive done it before with the same pix box, same software...and Ive done it
with different pix flavors and same software...they seem pretty
interchangable. I was told by Cisco that they do not recommend
interchanging pix versions for fail-overs...as long as your interfaces are
the same, I cant see there being any real problems in a lab environment.

Re: Figure this one out!!! (telco was wrong)

2000-08-16 Thread Dale Holmes

Once when troubleshooting a problem with the Telco, I had to go to a meeting
and call the guy back. After hanging up the phone, I shut down the router,
unplugged all the cables, and took it back to my desk.

2 or 3 hours later, I get a call from the guy at the Telco, and he says to
me "We've been hitting that box all morning with no problem..." I say
"Really?!?!" "Yeah," he says "no problem at our end". So I say "The thing
is, you see, that I have that router sitting on my desk now, it hasn't been
in the rack for 3 hours or so. I can't see how it could possibly be
responding to you." LONG pause... "What was that circuit ID again?" he says.
I nearly pissed myself laughing...

Rule 1. The telco is lying
Rule 2. Refer to rule 1

Re: CCDP

2000-08-16 Thread Robert Padjen

Bruce's book is very good for its topic, but it is not
geared for the CID exam. The Sybex book is written for
the exam and for current design methodology. Cisco's
design book is also written with the course objectives
in mind. I'm personally biased to the Sybex text. ;)

The key to the exam is that is is very different from
the rest of the certification series. There is a focus
on theoritical and not on commands or specifics. This
can throw some test-takers. Bruce's book is good for
the specifics.

Take a look at the objectives on CCO and then compare
to the Caslow book - I think you'll see the deltas.

CCNA 2.0 Info

2000-08-16 Thread Kris Jacobs

I purchased Todd Lammle's 640-407 CCNA study book in the plan of
getting my CCNA 1.0 cert by July, which didn't happen. In
addition, I also have Cisco's ICRC book.

My question is, now that the CCNA has changed to ver 2.0
(640-507), do I need to purchase any other study materials, or
will the books I have (in addition to numerous 640-407
whitepapers/practice tests) be enough to enable me to pass the
test? If not, which singular book would be best recommended to
increase my chances of success?

Lastly, if anyone (without breaking the NDA) could tell me the
differences between the 407 and the 507 so I could pinpoint what
to study, I'd appreciate it. (Yes, I've searched the archives,
but didn't find this specifically addressed)
