I was able to watch an adult Golden Eagle from our patio today, as it
soared, hawking in the wind, finally landing on an out crop at the top of
King Mountain. American Crows and Common Ravens mobbed it for over an half
hour before it few in a southern direction.

I located a Golden Eagle sitting near the road and pulled over to admire it.

The location as of this email is 2nd Concession WEST of Highway 59 near

I was thrilled to have a very brief but close encounter with a Golden Eagle
today. I was driving westbound on the Mulmur/Nottawasaga Townline when the
eagle flew across the road about 10 metres in front of me at approximately eye
level. My first thought was juvenile bald eagle but as it flew,

I decided on a lunch drive up George Johnston Rd and then decided to walk a bit
of the Willow Creek trail. Within 2 minutes of walking I spotted a distant
buteo-like bird. I watched it climb quickly on a thermal and as it came closer

A golden eagle was soaring over Lindsay Lake (2 km north of Opinicon Road,
accessible via the Lindsay Lake Trail) at 4 pm today. This may be the same bird
that has been seen along Opinicon Road periodically since Feb 23. The eagle has

Hey Birders,
I had some work in the Strathroy area today. While working, I had a number of
interesting sightings. Most exciting was a Golden Eagle which appeared to be
hunting, near the intersection of Sylvan and Elm Tree Road's. It was observed
heading west, not too high up.
Other interes
Spotted and confirmed an adult golden eagle while at the Bayfield river on
Saturday. It was in the area all day approximately halfway between the town
of Bayfield and Varna.

As of 12 noon today the snowy owl at Whitby Harbour was still present on the
rock wall on the south west part of the harbour, near the small green and white
lighthouse looking thing(not the red and white lighthouse at the lake end of
the groin)

On Saturday April 2 I spent much of the day in the Long Point area.
Attached is a few of the better sightings.
1) There was an immature Golden Eagle moving along the forest edge of the Big
Creek National Wildlife Area. It could be observed from the top of the sand
dunes at the end of Hastin
Today went down to the Long Point area with Margaret Bain, Paul Riss and
Richard Pope and unsuccessfully looked for the Greater White-fronted Geese
reported earlier in the week.As a consolation we did see a juvenile Golden
Eagle soaring over the treetops just south of the platform at Lee Brown.
A first year Golden Eagle was observed hunting over the Turkey Point marsh
between 10:40 and 11:00am this morning, 2 March 2011. The bird was spotted
by Kevin Kavanagh at 10:40am and we continued to observe it for about 20
minutes. The eagle appears to be actively hunting, sometimes flying low over
Gerald Donnelly who lives near Mono Road in the north end of Peel County,
reports seeing a Golden Eagle on his farm today. The bird has been seen locally
for a few days, at one time feeding on a Wild Turkey.

This morning at about 9:30am I observed an adult golden eagle flying westward
at
tree-top height in the area of Dickie Settlement Road and Roseville Road. I
followed it in my vehicle for several kilometers until it went into a soar and
drifted to the south west near the village of Ayr.

Gwillimbury just east of Hwy. 27 when I spotted an adult Golden Eagle heading
in a southwesterly direction at fairly close range. It was close enough to

about 100m east of Hwy 28, about 15 minutes south of Bancroft. The exact
location was in a wetland at a bend in the road 1.1km north of the Eels Lake
Public Landing Road, which is between Apsley and Silent Lake Provinc

Elgin County. It was observed at very close range.

On Saturday, May 1st, Angela and I saw an immature
Golden Eagle near Chaffeys Locks (flying over the
entrance to the rail trail a few km west of Queens
Biological Station on Opinicon Road). Other birds in
the area were all as expected (lots of Red-shouldered
Hawks, both species o

2 Golden Eagle together flying north west, one 1st year and the other a 2nd
year, over Little Pike Bay this afternoon.
Also 4 Rough-legged Hawks were migrating.
1 Merlin was seen in breeding area.
Little Pike Bay is on Lake Huron, west of Lion's Head in the centre of the
Bruce Peninsula.

Yesterday Stan Bajurny and I motored west and south of the Hamilton area and
spent a long day in the field.
High Lights are:-
Horned Grebe - 2 at Townsend sewage lagoons along with 12 species of ducks
Tundra Swan - 10,000+ at and between Aylmer Wildlife Management area and the
Lee

Had a first summer Golden Eagle fly over the Long
Point area this afternoon. Photographs and more
