It's funny... maybe an hour ago I got an e-mail from Amazon suggesting I
take a look at the ISDN CIM for only $120. Is that a sign? I'm in the
market for an ISDN simulator, but I'll probably bite the cost and still just
get the actual physical box as opposed to the CIM.

I agree, you need real ISDN. Everyone I've talked with sees ISDN on day 1
in the lab. (I just failed my lab by a couple of points, but not due to a
lack of ISDN knowledge - But at least I made it to Day 2 )

working. The simulator, by default, is setup to use Basic-ni1. I connected
both of my routers directly to the simulator using straight-through cat5
cables. I then typed no shut on the bri0 interface

wonder if anyone has any experience with this product and let me know if

did you check out the CIM CDs that ciscopress just released? the routing

You could try and find a used Simline2, or you could purchase a couple of
ISDN lines and have them installed in your home. Probably cost you $60/mo
or so for two lines, or you could go with one line for $30 or so and break
out the B channels (although you wont be able to do multilink if
you need to look everywhere on the internet. I
found a teltone isl-2000 at a used test vendor for a very good price a while

Simulators. I bought a used Teltone Demonstrator and 2 NT1 devices for
$1400. I almost bought an alternative - a 2610 with NM-2V, VIC-2-BRI-NT,
which will simulate an ISDN network. The cost on them is almost the same as
a regular simulator, with the ISDN simulator

No, I think getting an ISDN simulator is more effecient. You can always use
your isdn simulator for 6 months than turn around and resell it. I guess it
really boils down to how much money you can afford to spend and how much

Does anyone know where I can rent or lease an ISDN simulator such as a
Teltone for my CCIE prep lab? I'd rather spend a few hundred dollars
and rent one for a month as opposed to buying one for $1800.00.
