I picked up a N770 for $130 from Buy.com. No charge for shipping and it
arrived 3 - 4 days sooner than expected. It has the 2006OS, so I have
not tried to update anything. I probably won't.

I realize the device is end of life. I'm satisfied with what I got

I have the N800. Having never used or seen an N770, I can't say how much
faster the newer device is.
Ben's skin is excellent. There are a couple of minor improvements that
would be nice, but it does an excellent job.

Should I upgrade the SW in the n770? How do I upgrade the SW?
I am still seeing about a 10 second delay using the N770 with the 770
SS skin. It is much faster when I use the default skin. I've tried all

Well, the old laptop is using IE 6.0. Even running the 770 skin in IE
that is on my desktop computer (IE7.0), where all the music resides, it
is slow.

you can't. Nokia770 skin does not work unless Slimserver = 6.5. You'll

The nokia 770 *can* show both frames of the usual slimserver skins; I
guess that before I just didn't give it time to refresh enough to
display properly.
However the normal skins are sort of small for the Nokia. It'd be nice
if there were a normal skin that just used a somewhat larger font.
The 770 seems to work ok. I attached the case to the wall, so it would
be like a control panel.
Still, I'm a little disappointed; for one thing, the screen won't show
both the frames (list of albums etc. plus current playlist) that are
needed for most slimserver interfaces.

Anyone have a link to screenshots for the Nokia 770 skin they can post
for me? The skin doesn't come up correctly on IE5/6 or the sony PSP.
In MSIE use Touch skin instead. It's basically the same, except it's not
optimized to the Nokia's screen size.

but I only get two buttons at the top - play and pause. Are there
supposed to be ff, rew, stop, volume, etc?

only a play and pause button at the top. I'm by no means an html expert
but I am a programmer and it would appear I have something to learn
about slim's html. Never seen the [% %] constructs in html before. I'm
guessing these
