When I get the chance this weeken
reference.
After warm-up, I'm not so sure that the 751A is any better than the Drake.
They are a lot better if they have the TCXO module added, but I didn't
see that mentioned.
Anyway, just curious what the reference conditions were.
Thanks

Gunky grease can hold the spring plunger all the way retracted (never
engages the stop) or half out (clicks as the pin goes past it). As
Garey indicated, it needs to be free to move into the depression in the
face of the gear.
If anything, I use a small amount of dry lube...no grease.

er to start advancing a little too early so
it nicks the pin one turn before the full stop.
To understand this, you probably need to watch the stop in action.
Should be no clicking at 0 and 500.

In the past I have use an O ring from the hardware store.
But the best is a white foam washer that is used in the packing of the
cylinder packs of CD's and DVD blanks. Approx ID is 9/16, OD is approx
1.2" and thickness approx 1/8. Soft, high density foam.

iron. Also think proper flux in addition to cleaning and regular solder
makes it easier.

Thanks for letting me know that the fork to 'slug rod' joint is

The fork _IS_ threaded!
Perhaps I misunderstood your problem. The fork is NOT fixed to the
tuning shaft. The shaft rotates and the fork is driven back and forth
by the threads??

Soldering braid to the frame and yoke can be done with a normal 100W gun
or hot iron.

Seriously, a little lower or a lot lower? All the ganged tuned circuits

Depends on how much messing you want to do I guess.

It is probably me (wife will testify regarding my sock selection) but I
would swear my TR7 sticky paint is a shade of muddy brown. Especially
when placed beside something black. Seems same as the newer RV7 and MN7
non-sticky texture coating. Is it just me?

What are you using to measure the output? Same measurement for both
conditions?
Is there any reflected power being seen when indicating 40W to the antenna?
What is the green alc light doing when it is putting out nothing?
My TR7 will back down to 5-10W just using the output control..unlikely
