Just called my dialup ISP and asked how to route all connections to their
news server thriough my modem. I want to use my cable connection for all
other addresses. Told them I was using Mandrake 9.
Their tech support said the only practical way was to physically disconnect

aid for and use the product often,
and have been very impressed with how quickly I get responses e-mails asking
for support even on weekend afternoons. Jeremy White is one patient,

I followed the instructions on installing KDE 3 from the Mandrake website,
but when I do the urpmi *, I get all of these errors about qt3 devel files
conflicting with the qt2 devel files. How do I get around this? is is
alright to have it install without checking dependencies?

In my case it was because I was configured to get my IP address by DHCP and
had not installed a DHCP client. I DL'd one from Tucows
(dhcpcd-1.3.21-pl2.tar), but I suspect there was one on the CDs.

Mick, you need to edit this file as root.
log in as su before you edit it, then you can save it. When you open it as a
user, it is opened read-only.

md5sum filename
where filename is the name of the downloaded file you wish to check. This
will spit out a character string, which should match what is in the md5sums
file, which is a text file.

I have Mandrake 7.2 on a laptop that started out with W2K and now dual
boots. 7.2 sees the mnt/windows just fine. The -t type is vfat just like you
specified. Check to see if there is an update available for linux to mount
W2K filesystems. Or this maybe a kernel update. I am not sure.
