One way to fix that is to go into the KDE Control Center. Once you
start that, go under the system heading and then session manager. There
is a checkbox there next to restore session...

I must confess to being an absolute 'newbie' on Linux. I have managed to
install lm7.2 correctly. all my devices see to be working ok except my usb

I am having trouble with my modem. Its
a US Robotics 3Com (full modem) 56K
I am using Mandrake 6.1 helio
and my error message is setting speaker sound when
i try to dial up

to the root (which is me, which doesn't do me any
good, because i haven't the first clue as to what needs to be fixed, or how
to fix it!)
so, any ideas out there as to how to avoid the restart in the first place,
and what to do if/when it is inevitable?

I use the ATI Mach64 RageIIc in all my linux boxes - they work fine out
of the box. It's available as a selectable option in Xconfigurator. Both
PCI and AGP cards work beautifully.

Irq2 is your interrupt controller. I normally disable one of the com
ports in bios and use that for the modem ie ttyS1/irq3 (com2 in dos).
