Cooker being the key word there...that is NOT a 9.2 release, that is a cooker release and cooker questions/problems should go to the cooker list. Cheers J Tom Brinkman wrote: On Wednesday May 28 2003 06:59 pm, Robin Turner wrote: Adolf, Michael F wrote: Greetings, I just installed Mand

Re: [newbie] No sound!
That's a pretty wise answer Stephen. I've disabled OnBoard sound, but i still see that CM8738 in Mandrake Control Center, and XMMS still won't play music. Would you mind telling me step by step what you did in order to make your sound work? Thanks On Tue, 2003-04-01 at 15:40, Stephen Kuhn wrote:

Re: [newbie] No sound!
Nope, it first was using aRts sound server, i switched that to alsa and now i can actually see the trackbar in XMMS scrolling, which it wasn't doing previously (it was failing connecting to the aRts soundserver obviously). But now, after all the modifications everyone in various forums/chat room
Re: [newbie] No sound!
You are right , there is nothing on my web site which describes your problem. If you can hear audio with xine, then obviously you have drivers installed and working. You appear to be using the alsa sound server, so install the xmms-alsa RPM and select that as the output plugin in xmms>Options>
Re: [newbie] No sound!
Hey Anne, thanks for replying. I've checked out Derek's useful linux page and it turns out that the plugin he suggest to load in XMMS (libcdaudio.so) is already loaded an enabled. Beside, my sound works flawlessly on ELX linux and WindowsXP. I've tried various things that the Mandrake Control Cent
