Hi all,
I'm very new to the world of Linux and Redhat, but I have been using Solaris for
over 8 years. If someone could help me figure out the following few things, I

The work-around for this is to never login as root. You can always 'su'
into root status from a normal user account. This is done with the su
command, and enter the root's password.
There are logs in the directory /var/log

Try changing the browseable option to yes. If you cant browse a share, you

For a GUI text editor, search for StarOffice. I don't remember the URL
off-hand. It's a very big app, and some like, but some don't...It's
freeware also.
