Yves, yes, they are external IDs. But so are wikipedia titles. Visually
inspecting Wikipedia tile does not provide you with any way to verify its
correctness - you have to look in the external data source (WP). As for
entering by hand - just like you shouldn't enter Wikipedia articles by hand

Not familiar with umap but it looks like it would fit well with your needs
and it is OSM friendly. If you wanted to put the data directly in
OpenStreetMap then hotosm have a tool that allows you to divide an area
into blocks that people can work on. That is a great way to divvy up work
and see

Totally agree. If some script can automatically add new tag
(wikidata) without any actual WORK needed, then it is pointless,
anybody can run an auto-update script.

j'ai toujours cru que la recherche concernait les éléments téléchargés
(= retrouver l'objet qui a tel tag). mais en effet cela permet aussi
de chercher un tag qui n'est pas encore présent sur un objet.

Overpass API is definitely your friend. Version 3 doesn't mean much though.

I would go about it in a slightly different way and download everything
related to public transport, not just the stops using the query found on
this

Si effectivement il n’est pas nécessaire de mettre en œuvre une procédure
d’import (que j’avais identifié comme assez lourde) et que JOSM + greffon
todolist permettent de faire le job de manière intelligente alors ok.
