my tale of woe was that my time capsule power supply died. This was a Known Bug with the earlier ones. Applecare warranty on the imac so all good it was replaceable. but. They would not let me have my data back. I asked them whether I could buy back the HDD which had nothing wrong with it.

there's a solution to the indigestion problem, you can use a Rule in Mail (or whatever) to push all your WAMUG email into a folder, then sift through in the long winter evenings when facebook gets boring. It'll organise by thread which is actually a lot easier to read than digest mode...
