When you moved the Envelope Index to the Trash and then opened Mail, did you
allow it to complete recreating your envelope index? If you did not that could
explain the 'beach ball' spinning.
Without knowing how you have setup your gmail account on the Web and in Mail
it is difficult
I have this problem with the gmail read/unread number indicator.
Though I have read through all my emails a persistent number still appears
against my gmail
as unread. What can I do to get rid of this number?

A new window opens up with a list of all the email addresses you have used.
Select the one you no longer want and click Remove From List

Earlier today for no apparent reason my MobileMe/iCloud mail account went off
line and was not sending or receiving mail. I went through everything I could
think of and the only odd thing I saw was in the mail preferences Account
Information panel the Incoming Mail Server
Your problem may be different, on the odd occasion Mail app plays up on my
desktop computer, I find that 'take all accounts offline' for a minute, then
'take all accounts online' again seems to fix it.

In iPhoto go to the iPhoto menu and choose Preference, then where it says
Email photos using: you can set this to your email client (Mail etc) instead
of iPhoto.

attempting to add my photo to the address book in as much as once I had chosen
the photo I couldn't get to the 'done' button because the chooser page was
blocking access to the done button, I pushed 'set'

There is another option.
Go to the Mail drop down menu, while on the main Mail Viewer window.
Then View Customize Toolbar Then drag the Reply All icon into the tool
bar. Press Done.
Then with the received email selected, click Reply All and delete any you don't
want

Then you can email all the recipients in the group just by typing the group's
name in Mail.
If you have some of the contacts already in your Address Book, it lets you
know and you can either review them, accept them, or cancel.

About 6 months ago I sent an e-mail to my son which refuses to open and can't

Accounts username Picture, and Address Book will immediately start using
the new picture on your personal card, as will Mail on your messages.

and clearing close to 1000 emails. I start up ( from OFF) this am only to
find a selection ( not all) emails right back where they were when I started.

For some reason Mail has triplicates of recent received messages from 1 Sept
to 8 Sept.
1. Mail has now 931 unread triplicate messages.
2. I cannot delete them.
3. I have trashed the ‘Envelope Index’ but Mail crashes when I launch Mail
Hi Rick. This is just an idea to show you what files may be taking up
the space; If you go 'USERS - HOME - LIBRARY - MAIL - YOUR MAIL
ACCOUNT - INBOX.mbox - MESSAGES. Then view in LIST VIEW, then click
SIZE you can see all your attachments from the largest to the smallest
and delete

I've been experiencing a similar problem since beginning of September! Some-not
all- messages are duplicating,in particular,Wamug stuff.I clear my Server of
messages every day and maintain a low level of messages in my Mail App. OS

I've done all that now and it all seems OK--HOWEVER!
Re : If that doesn’t solve the problem, quit Mail, navigate to ~/Library/Mail
Darned if I can find the above in the Library Folder!
