(313) Wladimir M. is back
Hi all, Just wanted to announce that we just released a new EevoNext and we are bringing back the dead (well a figure of speech, he is still very much alive ;-)) this time: Wladimir M. - Electronic Muzique With a remix from yours trully, electronic muzique is running through my mind, is it running through yours as well? For sound clips, check the eevolute website: http://www.eevolute.com/release/electronic-muzique.html Feedback is very much appreciated! Thanks, KJ

Thanks Kent, I was just running to some old music and found a couple of old Theorem records. They all still sounded really fresh to me, he should be releasing that new stuff :D KJ On 5 mrt 2010, at 19:51, kent williams wrote: ... repeated with permission Your name came up on the 313 list ... In 2006 I made an entire album but ended up not doing anything with it. I ran out of energy after working so hard on it until 2008 when I made another batch of tracks. "I think one is on my myspace page called Amine. Then I took another break until just a few weeks ago because I became intensely concerned and vocal about the politics here in the US. I updated some software, have been working on a track for the past week, and just got a new subwoofer two days ago. I have no clue what I'll do with any of it and am doing it more with a feeling of curiosity, thinking "What kind of music would I be making if I started right now?" and basically daydreaming (nightdreaming?) and playing with sounds like I used to. That's usually when I write my best work, when I don't have a purpose and it just happens." So if you want to keep up with Dale, facebook friend him.

He used to be on 313 back in 'ye old days, when dragons wandered around the world and noble knights battled for the beautiful princess. I think i met him a couple of times at 313 parties in detroit. Re: (313) DJ Agents / Agencies
Well i am a producer and in the almost 20 years i am making music, i came to the following conclusion: Booking agencies are evil. I tried to avoid them as much as i could, all the times i had to deal with them i ended arranging stuff myself because they just did it wrong or flat out forgot about it. (313) Future Beat Alliance out now
Well it is out for a while now, but i have been late posting it due to a holliday (damn them). The new Future Beat Alliance is out now on EevoNext, digital download for now, the CD will be out sometime later. Expect lush strings ;-) Info: Future Beat Alliance aka Matthew Puffett proudly presents his third full length album, the first one on the EevoNext recordings imprint. Patience and distance refers to getting from A to B in the best possible way in a bad situation, trying to control anxiety and fears. The featured tracks reflect on that, most of them being recorded in an impulse to capture the moment, after long lost weekends in the city. In essence, they form therapy sessions to recover from the big city stress. Having worked an average day or 2 on each track, it still took a few years to compile everything into this excellent album. Some highlights: The title track 'Patience and distance' has calm, yet exciting feel to it, transmitting peace and relaxation. 'Eremin 5' beautifully transforms from an ambient piece into a complex pattern of rhythm, sequences and chord pads that make you feel all shiny and new. 'Without words' makes you think about the world and it's complexities, and 'Calculated notes' resembles the energy from the city travels after which it was created. Re: (313) DJ Bone denied entry into UK
There was this dutch couple last year (or 2 years ago) who went on an extended vacation and went from cost to cost to the US. They were stupid enough te let their tourist visa expired. So they got pulled over by some highway patrol and he noticed that is expired, he arrests the couple and they end up in jail due to something in that Homeland Security thingie they have in the US. They got out 3 months later... I had my experiences as well with US immigrations, being shouted at and humilliated just for picking up a bag without that Immigration officer saying i could, trying to turn on a laptop when an immigration officer asked me if it could be turned on (how the hell could i know she wanted to do that). I have heard tons of stories like mine from friends and colleagues who went to the US. Oh yeah and after all this you always immediatly pass a big sign saying "welcome to the united states of america", they sure know their sarcasm ;-) On 17 aug 2009, at 19:53, Matt Chester wrote: This is a good point - whereas pre 2001 if you managed to get away with it once but got pulled up another time they would tend to be lenient, these days if they get the slightest whiff that you'd broken the rules in the past they will have no second thoughts about denying you entry on a permanent basis. A friend of mine who's a visual artist lived in NYC for 10 years on a legit visa, but recently had some irregularity on a tourist visa to go back there, and in the process they found that she had overstayed her work visa previously by 5 days - she is now barred from getting a working visa for the US for life. If you're going to play internationally, you pretty much have to follow the rules, because they WILL catch up with you eventually, and they usually get really upset if they realize you've been working in their country without a visa and getting away with it. -- matt chester 11th hour recordings matt-chester.com myspace.com/mattchester1

(313) Florence & Wladimir M. - The vineyard & Evil remixes
Hi, Some of you might find this somewhat interesting. We let a bunch of friends remix the first 2 eevolute releases. Some of the remixers are Arne Weinberg, Beat Pharmacy, Baby Ford, Convextion and Mark Archer from Nexus 21/Altern8 fame. I hope you enjoy: --- http://www.eevolute.com/t.php?pageid=2&atid=3&id=97 Florence & Wladimir M. - The vineyard & Evil remixes We proudly present the first full album release on EevoNext Recordings. It is the perfect bridge between the past and the future, this being an excellent remix album of two classics on the label. Florence's 'US heritage' and Wladimir M.'s 'As the leaves fall' were restored and remastered last year and released on vinyl and digitally. We retrieved some of the original music parts, supplied them to an international group of friends and producers we admire, and they came up with 10 excellent remixes of the tracks 'Evil' and 'The Vineyard'. The melancholy and vocals inspired the remixers to produce a wide range of great music to listen and dance to. We also found an unreleased remix by Peter Ford we restored, remastered and added to sum this album up. Featured are dub master Brendon Moeller aka Beat Pharmacy, NewScottsMan Mr. Arne Weinberg, EevoNext member The Moderator, Dutch techno heroes Duplex, Barcelona man Dave Tarrida, London's Justin Berkovi, deep Germans Neurotron, Ravemaster 'Altern8 aka Nexus21' Mark Archer, Peter 'Baby' Ford and lone islanders 'Skye Radio' who close in true dubstyle. The original recordings for these tracks were made in 1991. First vinyls appeared soon after, but only last year, in 2008, a limited edition of remastered editions was done. Florence is an alter ego of label founder and musician Terrace aka Stefan Robbers. When originally released, Florence started where Terrace stopped with an approach that electronic music can not only be danced upon, but also be listened too. Taking American dance music as a start, the results represent a kind of evolution that explains that everybody has qualities inside, just one should try to explore them. Wladimir M. founded Eevo Lute Muzique together with his friend Stefan Robbers. He was sometimes described as the conscience of the label and its artists, something he expresses in poems, lyrics and art. He is also an active visual artist and creates urban on locations you wouldn't expect. Together with music producer Stefan Robbers he created this and many other electronic compositions, where the influence of great minds is taken into a new, unexplainable direction. Tracklist: • Florence - The vineyard (Beat Pharmacy dub): • Florence - The vineyard (Arne Weinberg remix): • Wladimir M. - Evil (The Moderator Remix): • Florence - The vineyard (Convextion remix): • Wladimir M. - Evil (Duplex remix): • Florence - The vineyard (Dave Tarrida remix): • Florence - The vineyard (Justin Berkovi dark remix): • Florence - The vineyard (Neurotron remix): • Wladimir M. - The vineyard (Mark Archer remix): • Florence - The vineyard (Peter Ford's from the vault remix): • Florence - The vineyard (Skye Radio remix): Soundbits can be found here: http://www.eevolute.com/t.php?pageid=2&atid=3&id=97

Some news from Arne Weinberg some of you might like: --- Another thing to look forward to: I am happy to announce a new 12" by Optic Nerve aka Keith Tucker, one half of the famous electro group AUX 88. I can assure you that the tracks he delivered are pure funky and hot Detroit techno stuff, great for the dancefloor. Also in progress is the return of mighty techno don Gerard Hanson aka Convextion. I hope to be able to tell more about that soon. I think we can expect more spaced out dub styled futuristic techno from him. Regarding the author of this newsletter, I am working on my liveact finally. Yes, I did it, and I am happy to tell you that I will be available for livegigs after the summer. I am planning to offer a Arne Weinberg live set and also a liveact under my alias Onmutu Mechanicks (new 12" on Echocord Colour just released) that will focus more on the dubby side of things. File under: -Shameless promotion- --- For more info check: http://www.eevolute.com/t.php?pageid=2&atid=3&id=95 year: 2009 label: EevoNext Recordings producer: Tim Wolff catalogid: NEXT08 'Sostenuto' is the debut release of Amsterdam based producer and dj Tim Wolff and can be regarded as the primary sample of his unique producing skills. The title track Sostenuto refers to the Italian term 'Adagio Sostenuto' which, in classical music, refers to sustained play. Tim was inspired by Carl Craig for the track 'Branch; which crosses over from pure dance oriented to listening music, with a nice wintery feeling. The third track, Like Clockwork is a minimalistic, yet very warm dance track. It made it to the final of the annual Dutch dance music competition 'Vinylized'. EevoNext artist Terrace added his own mood while maintaining the drive of the original, resulting in a more anthem-like remix. (313) Closure of the Clone record label
I found this in my mailbox this morning, it might be of some interest for some of you: --- * Closure of the Clone record label* After running the label since 1993/ 94 we recently noticed that we were going to repeat ourselves. We started as a label influenced by the first wave of techno and house labels who were just releasing music for the sake of good and personal music (we cloned what they did... by just having fun and release music which we enjoyed ourselves). We have started very immature and without having an idea in mind that we we're going to make this a business... At that moment we were exploring the field of minimalish techno and acid. Then our attention slowly moved to electro, post Detroit techno and the new sonic territories with modern electronica. We've had the return of disco in the late 90's and the nu-disco thing and a fusi on of styles in the early '00. Simultaneously we've released dark electro techno, campy nu-disco ,advanced modern electronica and personal favorites in the rebound. Artists developed into different directions and there is not much we haven't touched in our field... from very 'obscure' records to 'underground' dance floor hits that got big festival crowds and balearic holiday ravers moving. So what is there left to do? Basically there is no challenge at this moment... we can continue releasing everything we like (from people we like) without a marketing strategy and without a potential buyers in mind as we used to do... but we already did so for many years. At this moment we don't understand the popularity of many artists and releasesor... actually we do!. We do, to a certain level, because we've tried many things when we just started our journey into music when we were teenagers and when we started the label +/- 15 years ago! By now we do understan d the tricks and formulas of dance music and the different users. However using these tricks and formulas just to ensure maximum effect would be betrayal to our own musical ethics because our goal with Clone records is to entertain ourself with the music we release (and to be clear... with themusic...and not the side effects). Somehow we feel we've had an almost complete life cycle of personal evolution in dance music and thats also how we developed the label into a versatile label which is releasing different styles of dance music for different purposes. Its a difficult decision because the label is doing very well and we get warm reactions from the strangest places in this world and we could do this for another 10 years! But in order to remain passioned about what we do, we feel we should not continue the label as it is.. so we won't. but no worries.. there will be new things coming, but its just not exactly clear what, how (and when). More news on th at in a few weeks time! There will be to two remaining releases (scheduled for Februari.) C#55 - I-f ft Fred Ventura/ Ajello - I cut my heart out (Craig Richards edit)/ I'm ready C#56 - Marco Bernardi - Mystery Of Nazerus (plus a limited Marcus Bernardi rmx 12") then it will be quiet on the label... oh.. and Clone Clasic Cuts still has some releases lined up (incl a Unit Moebius CD release), so for now we don't know what will happen with that.. but most likely we will continue with the Classic Cuts Series.

To bring this track to the 21st century, Estroe gave it a remix treatment mixing her typical Estroe sound but keeping the emotional value of the original. They played in The Hague last year, the sound was awefull there but the set was really good though! Actually it was how Jason described it. Only the line up was a bit different back then with Skurge, MM and Blak Tony (if i recall it correclty) and Juan of course. Re: (313) techno vs technique
Oh don't get me wrong, i don think there is anything wrong with having a preference on making music with hardware or software or a mix. My point was simply that most of the discussion i had with people about if music made equipment Z or by workflow Y is based on some form of jealousy or fear. I personally have a mix of both worlds in my studio. My statement is based on personal experiences, something i noticed when i had these rather pointless discussions on what was real music. It wasn't based on some form of science/facts. The discussions on itself is pointless because it can only be held if we could exactly tell scientifically what would be music and what not. These discussions are based on personal feelings about what would be the right way to make music. It is a personal preference yet most people try to reason about it with other people on scientific level. So we personal/emotional choice about music and we defend it scientific facts. KJ On 7 apr 2008, at 18:19, Matt Chester wrote: What do you base this comment on, just your own experience or a wider view? As a primarily (but not solely) hardware producer I certainly don't agree with that statement - I neither fear nor am jealous or even smug about laptop producers, I simply prefer making music with hardware. Yes, it took money and time to build up a decent studio, but that's half the fun of it. It's just a different way of working... Whilst I fundamentally agree also that the end product is the most important thing, there cannot be any question that the methods used dramatically alter the outcome. It's a matter of taste which you prefer, but there is no doubt that differing production techniques and equipment result in a different sound... Not only from the point of sound generation (which is becoming less obvious as soft synths etc become ever more elegant) but also the interface and approach that the differing techniques force upon the musician. There are things that you can do with a computer that would be very difficult to do with hardware and vice versa... i don't think you can do exactly the same thing with each at all.. Re: (313) techno vs technique
Well said Kent! Last couple of years i saw so many of there debates, debates whether or not techno with only a laptop is bad techno, analogue synthesis is the way. The thing is that when this whole thing started i had to do exactly the same discussion but then the thing we had to fight about was when 'traditional musicians' claimed electronic was not real. I recently had a similar debate with a DJ who claimed that people dj- ing with Live or with that M-Audio Torq system ain't real DJ's. In the end it turns out that most of these discussions are all based on fear or a form of jealousy. I have a studio with a bunch of old analogue synths and i see people playing out with only a laptop, and that laptop is there whole studio to. When is started making electronic music i had to save up a lot of money to get something simple started, these young kids can do the same with a lot less money. All these discussions are based on feelings described above, in most cases they have no musical content and if there is one it is mainly that for example the old rock people simply did not like the sound of a TB-303. On 7 apr 2008, at 15:36, kent williams wrote: This seems to come up a lot -- people complaining about laptop performers, software-based production, etc. This is where the dub vs mnml thread seemed to be going. I don't want to start another debate, or another repetition of the same people launching the same mortars over the wall at each other, but I want to say this (perhaps again): 1. Judge the results, not the technique. 2. The theoretical 'futurism' of techno would almost demand embracing of new technology. 3. You can make crappy dance music with a 909, 808, 303, SH101 and a MPC60 too. You're just out $10k more on hardware than you would be with your laptop and cracked copy of fruity loops. 4. Why give people points for making virtue of a necessity, if the results don't measure up?
