One time when I was working at Second Life Bikes, and kid came in with a bike freshly painted with black spray paint. I asked him where he got it. Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park court swamped by parking tickets
I don't think it's wrong to be critical of the way the system was implemented. This is a system, which people have shown quite a bit of confusion in using - one that had at least one local town (Belmar) eliminate the system for that very reason. The meters also run a good 5 hours longer than any of the nearby towns. I think those two points are definitely worth discussing and debating. dfsavgny wrote: --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com mailto:AsburyPark%40yahoogroups.com, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: True I don't get that. Belmar actually tried a parking meter system like that a year or two but removed it in favor of the old system of one meter per space because too many people complained about not understanding where they should be paying for their spot. First off, they should've waited till next summer, or until more of the renovation is complete. Secondly, it's confusing people left and right. And if you park too far away from the machines, and don't know that you have to pay to park, and didn't note the space number, you have to walk all the way back to your car. Strike 2. Finally, there is no communication between the city and MM, because MM has free lots at the SP, Casino and the Wonder Bar. People seems to be parking in those, rather then use the pay spaces. I'd do the same thing. Nobody is watching those lots. This is already generating lots of brand new bad publicity for our city. It should. I'll go out on a limb here - the STUPIDEST thing MM can do is to NOT put the (a) carousel back in the Casino. I hope they do put it back. - Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search.
Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Chamber Names Carousel Awards
I predict that the Casino Carousel House will be turned into a food court...a replica (wink, wink) of the one at Monmouth Mall. (Hey isn't that one supposed to be an interpretation of the 'Real' Casino Carousel House right here in AP ???) I think the boardwalk idea at Monmouth mall was based off of AP. There intended to be a carousel in the center food court area. accross from what is now Old Navy? You can see the round shape on the floor, and the circular support system above it. It was designed for it... but i think time showed it would be a waste to add it. - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Chamber Names Carousel Awards
I'd like to see a carousel in the Corousel House again, but i don't think its possable at this point. Look at the direction the boardwalk is going in I don't think it would fit in with the stuff planned for the boardwalk. Times can change though, who knows! I doubt it though... I was sitting behind members of MM at a previous counsil meeting. A frequent towns person wondered over and began asking questions about amusments and other boardwalk attractions (like the water park he had heard of as being part of MM's plan). Their answer to his questions was no.. - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Chamber Names Carousel Awards
You need a reason, other then for a sit down $30 pp affair. Not that people won't come for that buttake a look at a carnival trailer midway with cotton candy, popcorn and soda. Bring me the $. That and a ride like a carousel next to it. I see your point about the Freehold Mall... But i guess Monmouth Mall didn't see as a draw or people, otherwise why would have wente through and built it. They've had quite a few years between now and when the boardwalk additions were added on. Ah, who knows! Carnival rides, cotton candy, and others are good attractions. However, it's kind of obvious that isn't the image the boardwalk is going for. Like it or hate it, that appears to be what's going on! - Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Chamber Names Carousel Awards
I have the feeling MM is not planning to cater to a boardwalk filled with children. When they first showed their plans in City Council there was nothing for children except a candy store with walls of candy. They did not mention the water park that was proposed in the app. MM in my opinion is gearing the boardwalk to the people they will need to fill the Condos that will be built on Ocean Ave. The Condos being built are for couples with no children. Exactly. I wish it were different. Do you really picture a boardwalk filled teens and screaming kids, while there are million dollar condos only feet away on the other side of Ocean ave? I highly doubt it. But again, we will have to wait and see what happens. As the post up top mentions, MM didn't mention anything about a water park really. They said they had ideas for it, but i'm guessing it's nothing major or else they would have had it ready. Maybe it wasn't mentioned beasue it's not part of the summer 08'? - Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Chamber Names Carousel Awards
These are just thoughts, i have no idea if they're true. Maybe the freehold mall has their double decker carousel becasue they can afford it? Does the Freehold Mall bring in a large profit? From the area, and the percentage of high end stores, i'm guesing yes. It may have been an attraction, something done becasue they could afford to do it. Weather it makes money or it doesn't, it brings in people. But that could only have been done becasue the mall in general brings in enough extra money. Maybe Monmouth doesn't do well enough to spend on such an attraction. One that may not give back much. - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.

Anne Frank was 13 when she started writing her diary. Want to question her letters? Both the cited letter I provided and the legend are included in the wiki entry on Max. It was amended based on new info. Unlike any of your mistakes: (Using the legend as analogous proof of a godless school board and judiciary which you ditto from the wingnut blogs. You've inadvertently transposed their misspellings which gave your sources away on more than one occasion.) Your responses today come before you could possibly have read any of the technology, business, magazine articles, or the video support I provided. After Max nearly took a knee against the ropes when the ref stepped in? After Joe knocked him down the 1st time? The 2nd time? The 3rd time? Also, if I recall correctly, my column said something to the effect of legend has it about the radio broadcast being cut. Haven't you pretty much proved that I was telling the truth about that? You've found numerous sources, Wiki itself, citing the same thing. Lastly on this, which one of us is hijakcing the thread? You are bringing up this stuff from last year, not me. Maureen is right! A center lane with a 5 MPH speed limit. Anyone operating outside of these guidelines would be enforced. What's the problem? Especially since roads were not condusive to cycling, particularly with ocean view. The other thing that bothers me is that if Kinmon was willing to go out on a limb and tell me I'd not have a problem with rentals; it would not have been difficult for the city to alter ordinance to allow commercial bikes; considering I had valid mercantile license. In the beginning of the summer, I did it all the time, and there were definitely cops present, and nobody told me to stop. Then, toward the end of the summer, I got kicked off once, and like a good citizen I followed the rules. Next thing i knew, I was the guy riding on the pothole ridden street, but there were still others riding on the boardwalk, and nobody seemed to be enforcing that. Also, one thing that amazed me is that many times, the boardwalk was nearly deserted, so here's a rule that keeps people from riding on a deserted boardwalk. What is that? The first step to know what is going on and trying to change things is to attend council meetings. I told the city that they should ty for once, to condemn something it doesn't want instead of things people want to stay (Baronet). Use eminent domain to acquire the shelter property, but for a public use. Various groups run charitable services in this city, fail to police the people who use them, and they return home to their own communities which these operations do not impact. BTW Allan, another knock at Asbury Radio by you. __Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! It is in total contrast to Cookman. You walk away from a stroll down cookman with 'wow, they are really taking this seriously!'. The BW leaves me shaking my head and saying to myself 'They must be joking! your right, there is a difference between the boardwalk and cookman ave. but keep in mind, that whats being done on cookman ave. is perminate, and ment to remain as you see it. its clear that whats done on the boardwalk is only for a few years, untill a final renovation is done (for anyone out there who didnt know, or figure it out. that final renovation will come as soon as the first 3 main residential projects are completed). I am sure I was not the only one who left feeling what was 'fixed' looked cheap, tacky, and temporary. cheap, yes. tacky, possiably. temporary, of course. __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Readies For Busy Summer Season
there is no mention of it on the sign on main, and i didnt see anything in the loacal papers about it. This seems to be the norm for city sponsored (im not sure that who is sponsoring it) events down on the waterfront. I think a little more attention to PR and marketing for these types of events would help immensely. I think it was mentioned in the Asbury Park Press on Friday (weekend section). I was told about the concerts a few months back and promised a press release once the schedule was set. That release never came. I did add all of the events to the event calendar at AsburyMusic.com yesterday so if you want to see the summer schedule it is available there as well as the Convention Hall website. They are great at sending out press releases for things like the installation of new lights on the boardwalk, but when it comes to promoting events they hardly ever send anything out. As for promotion, well... Let's just say that there are places who have been offering advertising for practically nothing and they refuse to take them up on the offer. When an popular act like Billy Idol fails to sell enough tickets for a concert on Memorial Day weekend you know that they aren't doing promotion well. Yahoo! John, Very interesting. What happened to the group that wanted to make sure the Casino was preserved? -Original Message- From: AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tony Tedesco Sent: Saturday, May 28, 2005 7:02 PM To: AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com Subject: [AsburyPark] Re: Asbury Park Readies For Busy Summer Season thanks for the asking the question i was hoping would be asked. It allows this topic to be brought up without hearing, 'the election's over..why is this still a topic?' I, for one, might consider suing (if i was a person of litigious nature) because they seem to have been negligent in making sure that the developer's agreement is being held to as intended. If the city was on top of making sure restoration and safety came first (and maybe question these anti-newtonian timlines the MD has seemed to concocted) the casino would certainly be in better shape by now. And frankly, if they gave a crap, they would MAKE as sure that people wouldn't be walking through that death trap as well as they seem to be making sure people arent hitting the sand without beach badges. I think having the casino open is an important part of generating BW traffic (people certainly arent going to hop in their car and to come from the south if they are at the beach in OG, but will readily continue their stroll northward through the casino), and hate the fact that it is closed, but the reality is that someone has to intercede to make sure the injury and litigation does not ensue. The last thing AP needs is the setback of bad press related to the perception that 'camden by the sea' is still an appropriate euphemism for AP. Dan: Charlie has made those same arguments for 4 years. They've been refuted a thousand times. JerseyJohn did an accounting of all the developers that have tried to get in here. It's quite a number. Unfortunately despite all the facts that make those same arguments untenable, Charlie and the City Council (except perhaps Hamilton) still think the same things. It's no use. People who don't want to face facts won't. Yahoo!
