Like you I did not study for the beta exam (I wanted to know what it
was all about and not loose 300 bucks.) I have not received my graded beta
exam yet not did I expect to pass (however if the pass grade was 45, I may

hindsight, one month of studying would have been plenty to prepare for the
written. It covers (potentially) more material than the CCNP/DP tests, but

I agree. Cisco, like Novell, teaches you HOW things
actually work rather than simply teach you their
products and their way only.
If you achieve CCIE written or lab, that knowledge is
transferable to almost any WAN platform in almost any
enviornment. Granted, the current and future salary
expect
ce was I successful in leaving a company for a better
opportunity... & never was able to write my own ticket like I am today.

I believe Cisco Certs aren't the same as the other vendor's Certs, in that
for MS/Novell/Lotus alot of them require knowledge with their products. As
newer versions of the OS/App comes along, your previous knowledge will be
less relevant.
