Could also be the video cable. I've seen a Pismo 500 that locked up or shut
off when moved. I isolated it to moving the LCD rather than the whole
laptop, but haven't yet ripped it apart to verify.

Thanks for your suggestions Laurent. Swapping bits between the old and
new Pismos, I have isolated two separate problems; the interminable
boot seems to be a HD cable problem, so will try to fix or get a new
cable.
But the PMU needs to be reset every time I restart otherwise I don't
get any

I think you have the latest firmware but I would have to check on my Pismo,
which I don't have right now. Maybe another Pismo owner could verify in
System Profiler?

I've never had trouble with any laptop (Compaq, IBM, or beloved Apple)
on any airplane seat.
Most tray tables not only fold out, but then also SLIDE forward. The
Wallstreet fits fine (as did the leviathan iBook 366 I had).

Wallstreet and Pismo owners have an extra zeal and loyalty regarding
their PowerBooks. It's not surprising that there are so many current

If I couldn't sell it and it was the only machine I could have, that would
be a very difficult choice since the 280 has no wifi possibility, and that
is something I use frequently.
If the choice was changed to a Wallstreet or a 2400c, I would grab the 2400c
in a heartbeat.

If it is a 12 iBook you are comparing (I think all of the 500-700MHz were,
though I may be wrong), then that would easily win the choice for me. The
Pismo, like all other PowerBooks since the 2400 (current 12 excepted) is
just too danged big and heavy.

i have a dvd combo drive in my lombard and they
take the same bay type as
the pismo. The drive is a Samsung sn-324f/dmb
january 2004 model it supports
disc burning in X and toast in 9.2. works fine.
