I don't know about running a guest operating system designed for a
370 machine like MVS or DOS/VS. I think you would need SET MACHINE 370.
I used the option to run an old version of VTAM in z/VM 3.1.

There is no ASA control character for skip to channel 12.
To get to line 44 you would have to count lines and print blank lines

That's funny David because I have often wished for exactly the
opposite. When I RECEIVE PRT files from a VSE virtual 3800 they are
always RECFM 'F' and 205 bytes even if the longest print line is 10
bytes. If they were received as 'V' it would save a lot of space.

On my system I changed the privcalss to Y for OPERATOR only.
My operators are not used to typinge CP prefix for CP commands so when
they type SHUTDOWN they get the my SHUTDOWN EXEC that asks them if

After the FTP is done I just receive the file.
I do this with service machines too where I might have WAKEUP running
to detect a new file in the RDR and RECEIVE it.

I have 4 groups of people and I put a LINK in the CP directory to the
misk that has the files they are authorized to use.
If someone falls into two groups I simply put two LINKs in the
directory.

I applied the HTTPS updates to Charlotte and put the package on my VM FTP site.
To ftp VM to VM:
ftp zvm.sru.edu
user sruftp
pass guest
ebcdic use binary if not on a VM system
mode b only on a VM system
get charlott.vmarc
quit

The EXEC still works in z/VM 3.1 . It is extremely fast and there is no
manual intervention of any kind.
I am sending the exec to Steve offline. I will send it to anyone first
thing Friday morning to anyone who requests it today

So my solution is to use a third party LPD program called RPM (Remote
Print Manager) from Brooks Internet Software: http://www.brooksnet.com/
This LPD server allows me to use my own name for the receiving
queue so I chose TRANSCRIPT. RPM then prints to any Windows

I have VMARC MODULE on a VM FTP site. If you do the FTP in your VM
then the record structure of the MODULE will transfer correctly.

I made REXXWAIT.VMARC and put it on my VM FTP web site.
