I only have the express version of Visual Studio 2010 and was able to build
MPIR using it. I'm not certain but I think it was necessary to have Windows
SDK 7.1.

I just downloaded the SVN version of MPIR. I looked in the build.vc9
directory and only found a mpir-tests.sln but none for MPIR itself. I think
that previous times when I have built this library there was such. Am I
missing something?

Well I tried this. I made the suggested change to gmp.h in the root
directory of MPIR. I then rebuilt the library. I then rebuilt the MPFR
library using Brian Gladmans project for Visual Studio. After this I got
the same error.

I have a further suggestion for the documentation of mpz_probable_prime_p
the prob argument could use a suggested value or range of values. The
mpz_likely_prime_p could also use further documentation on the div argument.

and 64-bit MASM (ml64.exe) installed. I'm not suggesting thier use, just
